Do We Have Some New Info On Ben Affleck's BATMAN In MAN OF STEEL Sequel?

Daniel Alter, Producer for both Warner Bros and Relativity, sent out a Tweet which may or may not give us an interesting insight into the incarnation of Batman we'll see in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel follow up. He might be taking the piss, but possible SPOILER WARNING just in case.

Here's the Tweet.

Now we already knew that Affleck would be playing an older, more reclusive Batman and it was also rumored that he'd be estranged from his former protege, who has now taken up the Nightwing mantle. But the drones thing is a VERY interesting addition -- if true of course. Alter may have tacked that bit on to stir up the fanboys, or it might just be something he's heard and hasn't confirmed - but assuming that it's on the level, if Bats is using drones it might be why Superman is forced to get involved in his business, eventually leading to their dust-up. It's all speculation of course, but let us know what you think in the usual place.

kevberg - 11/15/2013, 9:40 AM

GET IT STRAIGHT...---Bruce wayne is obsessed.with fightimng crime....he 'd rather be out kicking ass than an rich fund raiser crap. He simply doesn't "give up". Its why hes a bit crazy.
RorMachine - 11/15/2013, 9:46 AM
Yeah..I forgot there's only one definitive Batman and that's who any film incarnation should be based on.

Oh wait...no he's actually hung up the cowl in several comic stories.
whoa123 - 11/15/2013, 9:48 AM
Uhm sounds a bit like Kingdom Come Batman
MrCBM56 - 11/15/2013, 9:49 AM
Controlling drones? Hmmm, we'll see.
NovaCorpsFan - 11/15/2013, 9:56 AM
Maybe Nightwing is central at the start and he's out doing all the Batman stuff, while Wayne sits at home controlling the drones.

What am I talking about, I've never read a Batman comic?!
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 9:56 AM
So far away!!!!!!! Hmmm I wonder if Bruce is retired and he goes to Metropolis to help with the rebuild etc.... and bam he takes up the Mantle again to help Supes!
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 9:56 AM
@ Nova

LMAO!
kevberg - 11/15/2013, 9:56 AM
@euro-machine--

Yeah and he always comes back to it. I appreciate the snarkiness. though.
batcheeks8 - 11/15/2013, 9:59 AM
I buy the bit with Rohin right away because that's what I've been thinking too but he sounds like he's joking haha
DCNY - 11/15/2013, 9:59 AM
And a now, semi-retired Batman (Affleck in 42 now, will be 44 when movie premieres) is supposed to kick-off his own trilogy AND star in Justice League movies?

Again, short-sighted by WB. They should have cast someone closer to Cavill's age...
MarkV - 11/15/2013, 10:00 AM
Dude!!!!

I am so super stoked for this! Sounds awesome.

Can't wait for billionaire Bruce Wayne to meet the reporter Clark Kent. That will be an interesting scene indeed.
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 10:00 AM
This is a good way to get away from any character portraying Robin!
MarkV - 11/15/2013, 10:01 AM
OK, at the expense of sounding like a ten year old boy, I [frick]ing love Batman. It's such a cool damn character!

*swoon*
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 10:01 AM
@ Beto

Hopefully not!
maninfinehat - 11/15/2013, 10:02 AM
I really hope this isn't true. I don't need to see another retired pseudo-Bat like Baleman. Was really hoping to see the man who just plain lives for the mission. [frick]ing hell, Snyder. Don't screw this up.
charlie2094 - 11/15/2013, 10:02 AM
Sounds interesting, can't wait to see how it turns out. Don't think it'd be his use of Drones that would attract Superman, always thought it would be Batman going to Superman. What with the destruction in Man of Steel and the fact he's an alien, assumed that would be part of the reason they fight, beginning with Wayne helping to rebuild Metropolis...guess drones could be part of it, maybe Wayne tries to track him down or something

kevberg - 11/15/2013, 10:03 AM
@ror--

Its about CHARACTER... theres a certain way one acts from another, thats defines that character from another. If you dont understand that, then the character falls apart.

Even when everyone points to the Dark Knight Returns.. they're like see... " he gave up" ...No..the point was , he can't STAY AWAY. even eldely, Hes obsessed with being Batman.. it eats at him.
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 10:03 AM
By the way the last Teen Titans Go episode was so freakin hilarious they were foolin around the Batcave. If you look at the shelf you will see Robin Remains next to a crowbar!!!!!

JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 10:04 AM
JatevinM - 11/15/2013, 10:04 AM
Not really sure how I feel about this but I'm definitely willing to reserve my judgement until after I've seen the movie. I have alot of confidence in Affleck and Snyder.
ABH1979 - 11/15/2013, 10:05 AM
Yeah, the drones bit definitely sounds like Kingdom Come. I thought they were going for more of an Urban Legend Batman, where only the cops and villains really know that he's out there. However, all that goes right out the window, though, if he's got drones all over Gotham...
Omarvls - 11/15/2013, 10:05 AM
I want to see a BADASS Batman
Imagine a scene where Batman is going after Superman being backed up by dozens of Bat Drones EPIC
Gjedi - 11/15/2013, 10:05 AM
Well, what a hell, at least we will get something different from Nolan's Trilogy.
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 10:05 AM
@ Beto

NOOOOOOO a good Robin could work in Teen Titans movie!
Odin - 11/15/2013, 10:07 AM
If this Batman is going to be all Frank Miller; I'll be furious.
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 10:07 AM
@ Beto

Maybe, I think the problem is getting a costume on the big screen!
MrDonut - 11/15/2013, 10:08 AM
I dont mind that they're going for an older and wiser Batman, but having him semi-retired? It just seems to similar to The Dark Knight Rises; they need to change it up a bit if it's to be a different Batman.

Personally, I'd like Affleck's Batman to be an older wiser hero, who's gone through 1/2 Robins and is so obsessive with his night time activities that he's out cracking skulls as soon as the sun sets. I'm just hoping this film doesn't disappoint, cos as much as I liked Man of Steel and love the premise of this film, all these rumours and the continued use of the word 'weary' to describe Batman isn't really giving me much hope...
Optimus83 - 11/15/2013, 10:08 AM
No Robin. ...Batman Retrated, Nolanverse???
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 10:08 AM
@ Odin

There is going to be a lot of Frank Miller influence in this movie!
quasi95 - 11/15/2013, 10:09 AM
This sounds way too much like Kingdom Come Batman.
I love that story and all but that really doesn't need to happen right now.
JoeMomma29 - 11/15/2013, 10:10 AM
Maybe they should show Robin retired!

WhiteBolt - 11/15/2013, 10:10 AM
So, Batman is really Barack Obama with all those drones?
KINGPEN266 - 11/15/2013, 10:10 AM
lol i cant wait
Nomis1800 - 11/15/2013, 10:10 AM
How 'bout some Superman rumors? Hm?
quasi95 - 11/15/2013, 10:11 AM
Maybe hes emotionally at the end of his rope and Supes brings him out of his funk?
