Was probably the best part of the flick.
ForMeToPoopOn - 12/16/2013, 9:18 AM
Smaug was fantastic. Managed to generate some genuinely nerve-wracking scenes.

Smaug was awesome. He was very intense his whole time on screen
Ramiel - 12/16/2013, 9:42 AM
Villain of the Year...and no one else comes close.
Ramiel - 12/16/2013, 9:48 AM
The Cowboys SUCK! How do you give up a 23 point lead? Callahan, Kiffin, and Garrett need to be fired. And Romo needs to be disciplined for audibling out of the run, which lead to a pick.
JatevinM - 12/16/2013, 9:50 AM
Zod, Smaug, and Khan are definitely the villains of the year

OMG! I am actually laughing that the wheels on the Dalls short bus are falling off again. If they were win their division Jerry Jones would say that the team is moving in the right direction.

Right back at ya Batz!

@jatevin

Faora was a better villain. She wasn't the one getting her ass kicked by a scientist and a farm boy.

That Dragon was Awesome. Best part of the movie hands down. Well that and the fat dwarf on the river.

Looks amazing! Smaug looked incredible in the film, very happy with how they handled him...probably my favourite villain of the year, next to Zod/Faora
DelTorite - 12/16/2013, 10:09 AM
This picture doesn't make justice. Looks a lot better in the movie, specially HFR.
BmanHall - 12/16/2013, 10:19 AM
I find it amazing that I was on the edge of my seat during this scene as if I hadn't already read the book a dozen times. This movie was [frick]ing amazing.

SPOILERS

The only thing I didn't like was the time the decided to end it. It was like, right in the middle of the action! I thought they should have ended it right after Smaug dies.
charlie2094 - 12/16/2013, 10:24 AM
@Bman

I agree! Always feel the same way watching good adaptations, always surprised at the effect such scenes have despite knowing the outcomes and such :P

I think leaving Smaug alive was needed, I mean, otherwise a lot of people wouldn't go back for the third, the main premise of the Hobbit is to reclaim Erebor from Smaug :P If he was killed off at the end, some of the interest in the third will probably have been lost, do think they needed to have him in all three films in some regards
JoeMomma29 - 12/16/2013, 10:33 AM
@BmanHall

You have to keep in mind they need to battle Smaug and then of course we need to see Gandolf come back and warn about the impending armies etc.... then of course we will see all the armies come to battle and bam the final battle over the treasure.
Greengo - 12/16/2013, 11:25 AM

Smaug is no mere dragon.
He is an existential hurricane.

To quote the stupendeous one:
"I am Fire...I am Death"
