So if they go back on what they said and actually make Trevor the real mandarin, does that make it "official" in the MCU? I ask because the 1.2 billion dollars worth of people who saw IM3 in theaters aren't all gonna be seeing some dinky special feature on the Blu-ray. Or would it be just for Marvel to make it up to the fanboys for screwing it up? Doesn't make sense...if they were gonna make a whole new huge twist, they would put it in an actual movie, not a one-shot DVD special feature. Probably just Trevor doing some gags then.

I hope whatever they do to satisfy the screaming protesters still keeps the integrity of the film intact. If they undermine the movie's plot just because some guys on the internet were yelling about it, that's a steep, slippery effing slope to go out into.

Why would a writer with absolutely nothing to do with Thor: TDW, but who DID work on IM3 in which the Mandarin appears, hashtag a new short appearing on the THOR: TDW Blu-ray? Not saying it's definitive proof..but that along with the other evidence is leaning towards it.

There's been a lot of accidental references that are fourth wall breaks in the MCU as is to be expected.
Skye in Agents of SHIELD referenced the Big Lebowski^ which starred Geoff Bridges (Obadiah Stane.
Then there was Tony Stark referencing Legolas in the Avengers. Liv Tyler (Betty Ross), Lee Pace (Ronan the Accuser) and Hugo Weaving (Red Skull) have all played in the Lord of the Rings franchise.
