Stan Lee To Have A "Big Role" In An Episode Of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Marvel Comics legend has confirmed to THR that he'll have more than just a cameo in an upcoming episode of the tv series, and the site have also posted a BTS snap of Lee alongside executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen, and stars Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg.

Rumors had swirled, and really, after making a cameo appearance in every Marvel Studios movie so far it was probably only a matter of time before we saw Stan "The Man" pop up in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. According to THR his character remains a mystery, but Lee will likely appear in an episode on February 4th - though that's subject to change.

Ol' Stan has a cheek grasped firmly in each hand.

Rex: Gregg does look uncomfortable.

Sadly, the only thing I see this role bringing to the show, is more comic relief.
jlabatman - 1/7/2014, 9:59 AM
I heard they are digging up Kirby to make an appearance!
ChanchoMcGrady - 1/7/2014, 10:03 AM
His best cameo so far was in TASM. Even if you didn't like that movie, you have to admit that was awesome.

Still, the whole 'old man being oblivious' cameos are getting kinda old. I wish they'd do something new. I'd love it if he cameo'd as an army vet or something, and came out shooting at the bad guys with a Gatling gun.

Hopefully his role on this show is a little more refreshing.

Jollem - 1/7/2014, 10:05 AM

Am I the only one that doesn't care about Stan Lee cameos anymore?

No, you are not.
SuperAlexMan - 1/7/2014, 10:12 AM
No Stan don't do it! They're using you for a ratings boost!
JoeMomma29 - 1/7/2014, 10:15 AM
I guess while they are at it, they might as well throw in the kitchen sink!

BlackWarrior - 1/7/2014, 10:16 AM
AstonishingArachnid, that would be cool, he actually has been the same character in every cameo, the watcher.
Nigrutin - 1/7/2014, 10:17 AM
Wasn't he just some guy that got interviewed at the end of the Avengers!? What possible big role can he have?
EkklesiaRobb - 1/7/2014, 10:18 AM
I'm betting that he's the professor they keep talking about.
JoeMomma29 - 1/7/2014, 10:27 AM
You know what please have Stan be in the show at least we will have something that is actually Marvel in it!
charlie2094 - 1/7/2014, 10:29 AM
@EkklesiaRobb

That's actually a pretty good guess, could see that happening

Was going to finish with the show after the new episode, only thing keeping me going was Coulsons death, but might watch whatever episode Stan appears in
MarvelousAgentX - 1/7/2014, 10:33 AM
Gotta Luv It. Now Stan Lee is a bad guy and cannot add anything. WOW, LOL. Ding Ding Ding. Cry havok and let slip the dogs of war! Oh wait, these are Pavlovs dogs acting on the Conditional response of the ringing bell. Ding Ding Ding.
TheRationalNerd - 1/7/2014, 10:34 AM
LOL @BkackJack10
JoeMomma29 - 1/7/2014, 10:34 AM
I just found an exclusive pic form the upcoming Stan Lee episode!

FOOM - 1/7/2014, 10:35 AM
Sounds excruciating. But will it be as bad as Cary Bates and the tacky vanity of putting himself throughout Flash #228?
Probably worse.
MercwithMouth - 1/7/2014, 10:41 AM
@ Joe

You're getting worse, dude. @Marvelous and @Remy are probably gonna find you and stab you.

Stan Lee being in an episode should be great fun.
MercwithMouth - 1/7/2014, 10:42 AM
@b&y

Hell Yes to Mallrats!
FOOM - 1/7/2014, 10:42 AM
@blackandyellow

Now that really was excruciating. Wish

@ MercwithMouth

LOL!
MercwithMouth - 1/7/2014, 10:44 AM
Oh, and @Joe

EVERYTHING in AoS is Marvel. It's made by Marvel. We've discussed this before.
JoeMomma29 - 1/7/2014, 10:44 AM
xfan320 - 1/7/2014, 10:50 AM
While I have no intention of believing it to be true, it WOULD be hilarious if he did end up being the Watcher as some have mentioned above. Perhaps the AoS team could actually be tracking the same man through all of Stan's old Marvel cameos, only to find that he was always the same cosmic being who has been observing the formation of the avengers.

Again, I know this won't be the case.. I just think that ACTUALLY sounds like an interesting idea for an episode and leagues more clever than what this show has been doing so far...

Fingers crossed for tonight..
JoeMomma29 - 1/7/2014, 10:52 AM
@ xfan320

That would be clever.
SymbioteJoker - 1/7/2014, 10:54 AM
might as well be the watcher
JoeMomma29 - 1/7/2014, 11:02 AM
@ Xfan

I have to say I actually think that is a really good idea!!!!!!
xfan320 - 1/7/2014, 11:02 AM
^^Yea, it seems like a totally original idea, that actually adds a layer of depth to his cameos and real excitement... He would be almost like a time traveling tourist seeing all the sites, trying to get the best peek and souvenirs from his journeys. (The general in CA:TFA and trying to pull the hammer for himself in THOR)

The only real problem with doing something like that, would've that every Stan cameo would have to be "watcher related" from now on in these films..
LoudLon - 1/7/2014, 11:09 AM
Just sitting here looking at the pic and it struck me how many billions of dollars have been made, and how many people -- artists, writers, screenwriters, directors, film crews, construction crews, caterers, etc have careers now and steady work -- all from that old dude in that picture having sat in an office in a bullpen fifty years ago making up comic book characters. Not to mention the millions upon millions...upon millions...of fans he's entertained with those comic book characters.

The world would be very different if he'd never existed. So I say let the guy cameo in anything he wants. He's earned it.
xfan320 - 1/7/2014, 11:13 AM
I don't care who he plays though, the man is 91 YEARS OLD!!!

Holy crap, I hope he never slows down! He's almost a superhero himself now in a way!

GERIATRIC MAN!!! Someone that the elderly can REALLY look up to!!!

Or is that already Gusto's moniker..?
antoineflemming - 1/7/2014, 11:16 AM
@xfan320 @joemomma29 What about his Larry King cameo in IM2? Larry King's an alien? That'd be funny.
BritishMonkey - 1/7/2014, 11:16 AM
He's got to be Uatu The Watcher as we all know that's his real role in the movies.
Cameos, pfft. There is no such thing in a Marvel movie.
MarvelousAgentX - 1/7/2014, 11:18 AM
@MercwithMouth
Jomama29 is no threat to me or my family, so I pose no threat to him. Joe and others act as predicted on every SHIELD article without fail. I actually find their predictability quite funny.
MsDarkPhoenix - 1/7/2014, 11:36 AM
Does he get paid for those cameos? Or does he just want to appear alongside the characters he created?

Oh wait, that's AoS, he didn't create any of those characters.
dougieisrollingthejays - 1/7/2014, 11:42 AM
@TDP he's the face of marvel essentially. So he will show up on everything
