The movie's leads feature on these first couple of character posters for Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic, and I guess we can expect some for the likes of Anthony Hopkins and Emma Watson soon enough too. Take a look after the jump.

NOAH is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter John Logan (GLADIATOR, HUGO). Scott Franklin and Aronofsky of Protozoa Pictures, along with Mary Parent of Disruption Entertainment, will produce the film. The film will be executive produced by Ari Handel (BLACK SWAN), Arnon Milchan of New Regency and Chris Brigham (INCEPTION, ARGO).

Noah is directed by Darren Aronofsky, and stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Ray Winstone, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth and Anthony Hopkins. It hits theaters March 28th, 2014.

Here we go with the absurd religious comments on a MOVIE. Not a biased video, or a piece of propaganda but a mother [fricking] MOVIE!!!!
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 3:07 AM

I will just have turned 40 when this movie is out!

I think I will take myself to see it as a present to myself and then go subscribe to the hair club for men then go get drunk

As much as I dig Aronofsky's stuff, this just doesn't interest me.
sameoldthing - 2/11/2014, 6:37 AM
There is supposed to be two of every creature on the ark.
Glad Jennifer Connelly brought her two big sweater puppies.
ProfessorX - 2/11/2014, 6:49 AM
In the Bible story, humans had become so corrupt that the only moral thing to do was wipe them out and start again with Noah (the last decent bloke left). Factual content aside, the moral logic of the story makes perfect sense to me.
nowtheresaBATman - 2/11/2014, 7:02 AM
If you look close enough you can see Satan on a Jet Ski.
grifterprime - 2/11/2014, 7:16 AM
They got part of the story wrong but yet partial right. It wasn't because of man's sin but also to wipe out a serious genetic problem. But most of you won't see it.
Danbojohnj - 2/11/2014, 7:58 AM
Can't wait for the Stan Lee cameo.
BillyM67 - 2/11/2014, 8:20 AM
@Bravado – You’re getting really mad about something that never happened. If a "world ending flood" happened a few thousand years ago there would be evidence, lots of evidence, but there isn't because it didn't happen. The bible is many things, but factually correct is not one of them.

I like Crowe and Connelly and think this might be a pretty good movie, so I'll check it out when it hits Netflix.
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 8:26 AM
@bravado-

They were all bad/demonic
Shaggy - 2/11/2014, 9:02 AM
i kind of picture the world in this story looking like it did in The Road. its just so [frick]ed theres no saving it

DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:04 AM
Do you really think Noah's wife was that HOT looking back then ? Where did they find dentist back then.
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:04 AM
It cracks me up- marvel makes movies anout Thor and people go looney with joy but aranofsky makes a Noah movie and they act like they're victims of the inquisition.

It's like - how many priests are molesting you RIGHT THIS SECOND that you're losing your shit over a movie.
Careful- Obama will blame a terror act on your response to a film that pissed you off.
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:05 AM
@indignant waffle

EXACTLY
ProfessorX - 2/11/2014, 9:09 AM
"So you think that absolutely everyone on the planet nearly 4 000 thousand years ago was evil except for Mr. Noah?!"

What point are you trying to make exactly? For the sake of your argument you're postulating that the flood did happen but you're ignoring the reason given for why it was done (because ALL of humanity had gone bad). You can either reject it as a factual event or accept it, but to cherrypick parts of the story and ignore the internal moral logic of it is dishonest.

DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:09 AM
Not a big believer in the Bible but I will still check out the movie. Always love a good story. Like Russell Crowe an Jennifer Connelly.
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:10 AM
@doubleD

LOL!
DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:12 AM
If you believe in the Bible or not its still a good story . People need to relax.
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:13 AM
I bet 99% of the "it's wrong to kill and god is evil for the flood" have ZERO problem with killing fetuses
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:16 AM
There aren't a lot of people who think Thor is real, but there used to be.

But everyone kvetching about Noah doesn't think HE is real either.

Hilarious to quote George Orwell as it is SECULAR statist ruling class making our society Orwellian
DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:19 AM
JorL5150. Pick up a science book or is it evil ?
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:20 AM
An often overlooked anecdote to the flood story is the tale of Noah's cousin Larry, who made a small fortune selling kayaks just outside the ark.
DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:21 AM
JorL your comments are confusing
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:23 AM
@doubleD-

I had no bone to pick w/ you - thought your post was funny in fact
No, science isnt evil - never suggested that - I'm agnostic if that helps
DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:25 AM
Bravado the problem with religion is it seperatets an starts wars. Like Iraq. When religion rules its always trying to force their views on others.

Religion should never be involved in politics or government
DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:27 AM
JorL that was my original take on you.
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:30 AM
It is exasperating to see the intellectual laziness of the Noah movie haters-

There simply is NOT a single monolithic church /religion ruling our society. It doesn't exist .
The bible can be and has been and is inyerpereted in any number of ways shapes and forms

Opportunist politicians will use the bible/ faith to support whatever policy they want then pretend to be aghast when someone else does it for their policies
Fiscal conservatives and socialists
Social conservatives and liberals
White skinned brown skinned and otherwise
Literalists and metaphorical Gnostics
All and everyone either use the bible / church or ridicule it as needed
DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:30 AM
ALL Religions tell people not to look for the truth. Let fate guide us. Religion tells people not to open locked doors because God told us not too. Can't find the truth if your afraid to ask questions and open doors
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:31 AM
Not directed at double D
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:32 AM
We just need to use the force
JorL5150 - 2/11/2014, 9:46 AM
The Noah story isn't exactly about a bloodthirsty god smiting people- that at best is a gross oversimplification

In the narrative humanity had gotten SO bad from the influence of demonry and the demon-human hybrids that "goodness" was not tolerated
It's a world where Enoch was brought to heaven before death as they were coming to abuse and murder him
It's a world where even children were possessed and or cruel and evil
The whole time Noah and his sons were building the ark they were harassed and abused
Noah begged his contemporaries to repent and change their ways and he could only persuade his immediate family to be a person of virtue and character

Yahweh sees this and regrets making humans in the first place
AFTER the flood Yahweh himself repents of the action and pledges to never do it again

It isn't about Yahweh "wanting to kill millions" it's about yahwehs regret that he could only salvage Noah and his family
DoubleD - 2/11/2014, 9:50 AM
Bravado, AMEN Brother
ProfessorX - 2/11/2014, 10:05 AM
"The law, separate from religion, is the only thing that stands between the people and religious fanaticism and tyranny. Perish the thought that churches ever regain the power over people that they once had."

Wait, what? 99% of the law is derived from Judeo-Christian moral principles. Christendom was a shepherd for two thousand years, not a tyranny.
