COMICS: Newest Member Of The JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED Revealed

Jeff Lemire teased that he'd be introducing a new female hero for his new Justice League incarnation last year, and now we have our first look at her. We don't actually have a name yet, but she's a Native American woman based on real-life activist Shannen Koostachin.

Last year Jeff Lemire announced that he had created a new character for his new Justice League United series - a teenage Cree girl from James Bay based, in part, on late activist Shannen Koostachin. This character was absent from the first Justice League United #1 cover by Gene Ha, but here she is on the new version of that cover which was taken from a Previews Magazine. Thanks to DC Women Kicking Ass for the spot.

A bit of diversity is always welcome..but a name would be nice! Anyway, whatever we'll end up callng her, she'll be joining the likes of Martian Manhunter, Adam Strange, Stargirl, Supergirl, Green Arrow and Animal Man (with more TBA) in the new series which will replace Justice League of America after it finishes up in April.

ManCalledSting - 3/2/2014, 8:44 AM
Looks like a good team. I like Animal Man in a more classic outfit.
Pox - 3/2/2014, 8:47 AM
They need to do something about that Supergirl outfit...the 70's bush is a bit much
Jollem - 3/2/2014, 8:49 AM

Pedrito - 3/2/2014, 8:50 AM
A new Native American hero. I like it.
So we cool now, indigenous peoples of North America?

dcnoob122 - 3/2/2014, 9:47 AM
Animal man and green arrow are two names that jeff lemire is just successfully writing
jTiso - 3/2/2014, 9:49 AM
Adam Strange's new costume looks like a mix between Megaman and Star Wars Rebel Alliance's pilot uniform...I like it, though.
Monitorearthprime - 3/2/2014, 9:57 AM
I am confused, I thought Supergirl was a Red Lantern? Then again I only read Aquaman so I have no idea what is going on in the DCnU anyway.
DrunkenNukem - 3/2/2014, 10:23 AM
The art looks good
BubSnikt - 3/2/2014, 10:29 AM
This looks pretty good, especially since its Jeff Lemire
Battabing - 3/2/2014, 10:46 AM
I think this book has broken the record for the most blondes on one team. LOL!

Regardless, I f.uckin LOVE Jeff Lemire's Green Arrow, so I'm on this book like red on roses.
3DWitchHunt - 3/2/2014, 10:48 AM
[frick] yeah.
Lemire's been knocking it out of the park with Green Arrow and Animal Man.
Sad to know the latter's ending, but this should make up for it.
Glad to see some new, diverse, heroes being added.

Grren Arrow and Hawkeye have always been lame to me. No superpowers…..any minor super powered villain would kill them easily. Doesn't make sense.
McGee - 3/2/2014, 11:13 AM
It's about time DC brought out Sex Girl.

I'm assuming that's her name...
DatScarletPimPerNeLL - 3/2/2014, 11:33 AM
She's based on this young lady. R.I.P.
(she starts speaking at 2:20)
thewolfx - 3/2/2014, 11:35 AM
Supergirls new 52 suit makes her look like she has a fire crotch
Enphlieuwince - 3/2/2014, 11:53 AM
Awesome job DC...
Praetorian - 3/2/2014, 12:02 PM
Apache chief.
MightyZeus - 3/2/2014, 5:23 PM
The art looks good.

The character reminds me of Apache Chief.
SnapperCarr - 3/2/2014, 6:18 PM
Martian Manhunter needs to go back to the regular JL team.
Wolf38 - 3/2/2014, 6:54 PM
That's some lovely new artwork. Cool character concept.

I had to look up JL United, though. So, for those of you who are experts, a couple of questions:

1. Is this like the DC version of Alpha Flight?
2. How many different Justice Leagues are there?
mgeoff88 - 3/2/2014, 8:23 PM
This is cool. I haven't seen too many Native American superheroes in DC comics.

I just wish they would've given us a better look at the character.
rkshuttleworth - 3/2/2014, 8:25 PM
McGee, as a First Nations person (that's how we refer to ourselves in Canada) . . . Shut up please. Did I say that politely enough?

About time there was a Native American hero. Now about time that Native Americans were more acknowledged in the U.S. as a whole on a regular basis.
