Patrick Stewart Wants To Make More X Men Movies

Apparently the man who portrayed Charles Xavier looks forward to reprising the role. He also speaks about his role in the Star Trek movie franchise...
At a Dragon Con(thanks Betty) in Atlanta on Saturday, Patrick Stewart answered questions on whether we would be seeing him in future X movies, or maybe in the reinvented Star Trek movie series.

As we know, Stewart recently appeared as a younger Xavier in X Men Origins : Wolverine but he seems to be interested in appearing in future mutant centric movies in the future. While working on an adaptation of Waiting For Godot with Ian McKellen, he says the two of them agreed that they would love to further explore the relationship between Magneto and Xavier.

Asked about Star Trek he said he thought the new movie was "terrific", but that he did not see a large role for Jean Luc-Picard to play in the movies rebooted timeline. He did say he would do a cameo in a future movie.

the only good thing in wolverine was patrick. Wouldn't mind seeing him return.
luecypher - 9/7/2009, 5:52 PM
he did a great job
tyko450 - 9/7/2009, 5:52 PM
It's not just a convention Ror, it's D-ragoncon! (Dragoncon) You have to go at least once in your life. Or once and a half... or 13
Betty - 9/7/2009, 6:13 PM
He is our Xavier now and should be until he is much too old.
undeadpool - 9/7/2009, 6:14 PM
I find it extremely cool that he would enjoy this role as much as he seems to. He is a Shakespearian actor ,and he has no shortage of roles. For him to take as much of an interest in the role really gives the comic book movie concept more weight and credibility in my opinion.
Hawksblueyes - 9/7/2009, 6:23 PM
awesome dude, he was perfect as Xavier, and I'd love to see him reprise that role
davidzuck - 9/7/2009, 6:24 PM
Cool, lets hope its X4 X5 X6 and not a FIRST CLASS BORIGINS 90210 spin off! ; D

Wait a minute, why the [frick] did they change actors in X3 if he still wants to do X-movies???? : /
LEEE777 - 9/7/2009, 6:25 PM

RorMachine - 9/7/2009, 6:30 PM

Anil Rickly - 9/7/2009, 6:37 PM
im glad to hear he wants to return in any future x-films. hes a great actor. and if anybody heard the commentary for x-3, the coma guy is actually xaviers twin brother, so ya, he can return

woo hoo!
jallanr - 9/7/2009, 6:38 PM
Patrick Stewart is the best part about all of the X-films and it just wouldn't be the same without him involved in someway.
Osiris - 9/7/2009, 6:42 PM
I'm definitely for Stewart getting a cameo in a future Star Trek movie
mobile1ph - 9/7/2009, 6:47 PM

grif - 9/7/2009, 6:49 PM

CaptainCanada - 9/7/2009, 6:53 PM
THEYRE DOING FIRST CLASS TO GET THE TYPE OF APPEAL TWIGHLIGHT IS GETTING.
GUNSMITH - 9/7/2009, 6:56 PM
@ osiris "coma guy" was Xavier's brother wasn't he? Perhapse HIS TWIN BROTHER!!! DUMP-DUMP-DUM!!! Seriously though, I've got no freakin' idea.
NERO - 9/7/2009, 6:57 PM
i already mentioned, the coma guy IS his twin brother, they stated it in the commentary

woo hoo!
jallanr - 9/7/2009, 7:07 PM
well, that's good because they can now bring him back in.
But then again X3 could have been just a little less lame also
SixSixteen - 9/7/2009, 7:10 PM
i would love to see him in every single x men solo movie they are going to make or if they going to do x men 4
flames809 - 9/7/2009, 7:15 PM
cool
AvengingAngel1022 - 9/7/2009, 7:18 PM
Bring on X-4, and for Christ sake get a good writer, good directer, and bring on Bolivar Trask and the Sentinels. Perfect time to make the gov.t the new enemy focus, and get Michael Clarke Duncan to play Apocalypse
ASSASSIN666 - 9/7/2009, 7:23 PM
I would love an X4 w/Stewart. They could come up with some BS mutant or convenient plot line to resurrect him. They do it all the time in the comics. When I was a kid I wrote him requesting an autograph when they started Next Gen. He was the only one to actually write a personalized letter and sign it along with a picture. Very nice actor and loves his fans.
Number21 - 9/7/2009, 7:31 PM
They should bring back both Xavier and Summers... damn Jean and her killing spree.
LexLuthor - 9/7/2009, 7:36 PM
Come on, seeing him in Wolverine was a joke to me, sure you gotta do it some how, but people were laughing in the theater when they saw 'young' Xavier.
BryEL - 9/7/2009, 7:36 PM
Xavier has the power to make everyone see him as he once was, only magneto would see him as the guy at the end of X3
ComradeX - 9/7/2009, 7:40 PM
more PS in future x-men movies?..........make it so!!!
superdog - 9/7/2009, 7:47 PM
Xavier was alive at the end of X-3, look for the scene after the credits. He transported his conscience into the body of his twin brother who was the man in the hospital shown earlier in the movie
ASSASSIN666 - 9/7/2009, 7:47 PM
He was always at the top of both my friends' and my lists for Xavier even before the movies were cast. Glad to see that he likes doing the role so much. Honestly I don't know who else could play him.
necrosage2005 - 9/7/2009, 7:48 PM
sweeeet he is the best star to play xavier
Marvel Rules - 9/7/2009, 7:55 PM
ID LIKE TO SEE RAZE FROM UNDERWORLD MOVIES PLAY APOCOLYPSE

GUNSMITH - 9/7/2009, 8:23 PM
nobody else could be xavier. not even christopher walken lol
Fartman - 9/7/2009, 8:40 PM
Ben Kingsley could/should be Xavier after Stewart is done.
InTylerWeTrust - 9/7/2009, 9:10 PM
LOL, apparently they are starting to make the x-men movies storylines just as complicated as the x-men comics were in the late 80s and 90s. You had to keep a handful of notebooks to keep track of everything that had happened and even then most of it didn't make sense. I can just picture the regular movie goer... X-men 4: Rise of Apocalypse (or whatever surname they decide to give it), mmm sounds cool last movie sucked but this one might be good, nice effects mm, I wonder who'll be in it..wait a minute... WHY THE HELL IS THERE A PROFESSOR XAVIER AGAIN, WASN'T HE KILLED LAST TIME? the studio would respond NO YOU ASSWIPE, YOU HAD TO WATCH THE 2 MINUTES AFTER THE END CREDITS OF THE LAST ONE TO UNDERSTAND THIS MOVIE.

Anyway if they do X4... Jean Grey is dead, Mystique is powerless, Cyclops (apparently dead), Magneto powerless, I know there are many more x-men but... I really see a horrible situation in which the writters have to start jumping through hoops to make it believable for the characters to come back (they find a coccon under the lake of X-2 in which the real Jean is hidden, Xavier transfers his conciousness to another body, the "cure" wasn't permanent, etc, etc.)I don't know...maybe reboot? or just reboot x-3?
NoobMike - 9/7/2009, 9:39 PM
Yeah, they f*cked themselves sideways twice in the a$$ with X3. Too many continuity constraints.
InTylerWeTrust - 9/7/2009, 9:41 PM
Well, we already know the cure is not permanent because we see Magneto move the chess piece at the end of X3..so that would also apply to Mystique. The deaths are an easy fix. Noobmike you said yourself the comics have gone through such insane leaps of logic and outright silliness at times, why cant the movies follow suit? All the have to do to explain Xavier and Cycs death is say that Jean doesn't kill them when she does that vaporising thing, but instead transports their bodies to another dimension or something. Maybe the Shadow Kings realm! I dunno, there are lots of ways to get them back. Jean? Man she has dies so many times in the comics its actually laughable. Hell even leave her out of the next one if it would be over kill to bring her back too..have Scott be all "I know shes still out there somewhere" like his bitch ass likes to whine about in the cartoons.

Basically there is nothing that can't be fixed from X3 at all with a little imagination.
RorMachine - 9/7/2009, 10:05 PM
I know that Ror, the problem... and we have seen it happen all to often, is when that imagination starts jumping form person to person (or even worse from team of writters to team of writters) many times both Marvel and DC, hell even Wildstorm had to make wiping storylines, in which they simply wiped most of the inconsistencies they had, crisis on infinite earths, zero hour, Onslaught, and many more, were storylines that tried to reboot everything. The problem is that making and distributing a comic is a whole lot cheaper than making a movie so studios will probably be wearier of the wiping events, add the fact that this is Fox... and well....

I know that I'd go see X-4 in a heart beat, but you can't deny that most of the explanations and imagination needed would put off most of the regular audiences. Although Star Trek did manage to make a wiping event and be a cool movie, so what the hell do I know, but you guys know me I prefer to be weary and pleasantly surprised than be extremely optimistic just to end up deflated.
NoobMike - 9/7/2009, 10:25 PM
XMEN NEEDS A GOOD DIRECTOR WITH A FAN WORTHY VISION, HEY, I LOVED THE FIRST AND SECOND ONE, THAT WAS COOL, THEN YOU GOT RATNER WITH THE 3RD, IT WAS JUST OK,
GUNSMITH - 9/7/2009, 10:48 PM
I grew up a big fan of Star Trek TNG. Picard will always be my Captain. I'd like to see how they plan on bringing Xavier back after X3.
longbowhunter - 9/7/2009, 11:01 PM
I don't know if i could sit through another X-men movie after X-3 and wolverine . just like with spiderman 3,or blade trinity. it's hard to trust in a franchise again when you've been let down by it before. This just might be why i wont be watching heroes this season, or smallvile
supermarioworldE - 9/7/2009, 11:15 PM
Well I think Patrick Stewart is a bloody legend but I do not want to see him in a Magneto or First Class prequel because I dont want to see the return of the crappy rubber looking CGI Xavier from Wolverine. Either improve the CGI or just get a younger actor to play Xavier which Patrick could help choose.

But as some of you guys said they should just make an X4 (with Mr Sinster the reason Cyclops survived, we never saw him die!) and then follow up with a X5 with Apoclaypse. In my opinion, they should wait until X5 to properly re-introduce Xavier. Show how Storm manages the school and leads the X-Men in X4 without the help of Xavier and then bring him back at the end of X4 as a surprise to help fight Apocalypse. And I would really like to see X4 and X5 being made because it is the perfect time to make them as the current actors are going to get too old for the roles in the next 10 years if they dont make them soon. Make Deadpool in 2011, Wolverine 2 in 2012 and then back-to-back X4 and X5 for 2013 and 2014 and then when the actors have gotten too old, make the Days of Future Past in 2017, where the characters would also be old. It makes perfect sense.

Then they can make Magneto and hopefully, a First Class trilogy done right if they get the right director (but of course Emma Frost and Storm to replace Iceman and Angel).

And guys does anyone watch those anime videos that luffycapri uploads because if not, stop uploading them luffycapri
dancingmonkey08 - 9/8/2009, 3:16 AM
ROR @ I meant at the end of X3 they changed actors for PROF X! Didn't they?? Its been so long since ive seen it, ive forgot the heap of sh1te lol.

TYLER @ KINGLEY will be wayyyyy to old by then lol, anyway, he's a much better VULTURE!!!

DANCING @ No we don't want STORM & QUEEN replaced by ANGEL & ICEMAN!!!!

Got a chance to do it FRESH with X-MEN FIRST CLASS!!!

Hell their donig it with DAREDEVIL & FANTASTIC FOUR and both was better than X3!!!!

ORIGINAL X-MEN REBOOT!!! ORIGINAL FIVE an PROF X would be Awesome!

Can carry on doing WOLVERINE , DEADPOOL, GAMBIT etc, it don't hav'ta touch 'em!!!

Only way to go!

CABLE in X4 can undo alot of things and also could get a CABLE spin off outta it! ; )
LEEE777 - 9/8/2009, 3:24 AM
Sorry LEEE, I respect your opinion and all but I am sick of bloody reboots. They take too long to set up all of the characters again and does it really matter if they dont use the original first class in the prequel. No comic book movie yet has had every detail completely lifted from the comics. So what if Iceman and Angel dont get used in a prequel, they should just make a X4 and X5 and focus more on Iceman and Angel in those movies

But I do like your idea of Cable being used in the movies, he is awesome. I think Bruce Willis might make a good Cable
dancingmonkey08 - 9/8/2009, 4:03 AM
I respect your opinion dude, an im sick of reboots too!

But i don't want a X-MEN FIRST CLASS 90210 BORIGINS an that is what we will get IF they don't do ORIGINAL X-MEN proper!!!

X-MEN and ANGEL are CORE ORIGINAL members, [frick] singers lil universe!

Who wants [frick]ing STORM or that QUEEN from BORIGINS???

Danicing @ CABLE yeah!!! Can bring back CYCLOPS, time travel an all! ; )

MICHAEL BIEHN dude!!!!! CABLE!

Damn WILLIS would've made a fine FURY! ; D
LEEE777 - 9/8/2009, 4:11 AM
stewart IS xavier
Denn1s - 9/8/2009, 4:18 AM
no reboots! i think stewart did a great job as xavier @lee777 we dont know for 100% that cyclops is dead i think he mite still be alive thats my theory and i choose to believe it
supersteveprime18 - 9/8/2009, 4:43 AM
Oh that is a much better choice than Bruce Willis, Michael Biehn is the man! But the one thing I would be afraid of would be it might be a bit cheesy if he plays basically the same role as Kyle Reese because Cable and Kyle are very similar. But at least we would know he would be perfect for the role and he is the right age for it too. And it would be great to see Michael in a movie again because the only good movies he has been in is Aliens and Terminator (and he was in Grease? wtf? lol)
dancingmonkey08 - 9/8/2009, 4:46 AM
Yeah, but KYLE was like ages ago an he has that mature look to pull off CABLE! He is such an underrated actor an needs this part, heck the part was made from him.

He was in GREASE wtf is right lol? Whos he play man heh heh.

ONLY X-MEN: FIRST CLASS worth doing!!!

Supersteve, i meant the FIRST CLASS movie as a stand alone movie not connected to SINGERS-verse! Still wanna see X4, DEADPOOL an stuff, just think a stand alone FIRST CLASS would be soooo much in quality an entertainment plus for the die-hard X-MEN fans! They can co-exsist!!! Hell all the other franchises that do that do!

Get SINGER back on X4 (maybe) and get a quality team to do the ORIGINAL X-MEN the way they should be!

Its like having a AVENGERS movie without Hank Pym and Wasp!!! (They better be in it lol).

Bring on a CABLE spin off!!!

I hate my [frick]ing PC, argghhhh lol, need a new friggin' one!

: D
LEEE777 - 9/8/2009, 5:05 AM
CABLE is the easiest an best way to undo an sort out the mess of X3, think about it, easy!!! ; )

Photobucket

Sorry cant use me own pics lol, friggin PC is [frick]ed!

; D

BIEHN IS CABLE!
LEEE777 - 9/8/2009, 6:17 AM
in star trek, captain kirk died long before picard was ever born. why would he be in any of the new star trek movies?
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2009, 6:33 AM
really?? that coma guy is xavier's twin brother? gee, i wonder why they left that little piece of information out of X3, lol
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2009, 6:36 AM
@ luffy

i hate you

@ dancingmonkey

a lot of people complain about luffy and his videos. he's becoming the next supermike, as far as annoying goes.

@ LEEE

would you want to see them bring in cable with no Jean or Cyke? there would be no story to tell. i mean, they are his parents. and i don't want a silly time travel story to pop up to fix everything. that's the easy way out. they never showed cyke die, so he would be easy.

like someone else said. if sinister is the villain in X4, he could be the reason for X3's events. the "resurrected" jean from X3 could be madelyne prior, a clone of jean created by sinister. the real jean could still be stuck in a cocoon under lake alkalai. and cyclops could have been taken by sinister to do experiments on him. this makes sense, because sinister is obsessed with jean and cyke's X-Genes, he believes that if their genes were mixed and they had a kid, that it would create one of the most powerful mutants in history. X5 could be about them giving birth to cable, but then needing to send him to the future due to his disease. then X6 can be his return from the future to fight apocalypse. especially since his future is ruled by apocalypse! but that'll probably never happen, because it makes too much sense, and we're talking about FOX
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2009, 6:48 AM
I am really surprised by this story

Great news though, makes me love Patrick Stewart even more.
SoulAllFlush - 9/8/2009, 7:46 AM
If they want to do a First Class movie, let them. All new cast, just like a different artist draws a variation on the same characters. Get the guy who played PS clone in ST-Nemisis to play Xavier. And I agree a Cable story line could fix alot.

Number21 - 9/8/2009, 9:18 AM
And I would like to see a second Wolverine movie. The first one was ruined by bad cgi, a unpolished script and the thing that killed it - deadpool. If they would have left deadpool out of the movie it would have been much better. But the Wolverine Japanese story would be awesome to see on the big screen. Needs a another director then.
Number21 - 9/8/2009, 9:20 AM
I like Patrick Stewart. He has a really majestic voice and presents himself really well on screen. His manurisms are great. He really was the best choice for Charles Xavier hands down. As much as I like Ian McKellen I think he was to small for the role of Magneto. They needed a buffer more middle aged guy to play Magneto.
LaffaTaffa - 9/8/2009, 9:42 AM
There is no doubt that Patrick Stewart was the best choice for Professor X, it's just that this franchise has fallen to a point where i don't think it can get back up. Sure, more X-Men movies will be made, but by then, will anyone care?
supermarioworldE - 9/8/2009, 10:52 AM
@ supermario

i would be completely happy if no more x-films came out. then marvel could get the rights back and make a REAL x-men movie. maybe disney can buy 'em back!
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2009, 11:20 AM
@corndog, did you mean like a reboot?
supermarioworldE - 9/8/2009, 11:55 AM
@ supermario

yeah. if marvel gets their hands back on x-men, i would love a reboot. same goes for daredevil.
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2009, 1:03 PM
Professor X dies in X-3 so a reboot is needed to have him again.
JohnMarston - 9/8/2009, 2:09 PM
I just wouldn't want to see Hannah Montana in the next x-men movies!!

seriously though, this Disney/marvel/reboot era that's coming is gonna suck
supermarioworldE - 9/8/2009, 2:19 PM
@ mario

you don't know that man, come on. lol its more than likely going to be a very good thing! disney hasn't interfered with any of their companies, they won't do it with marvel. they know if they did, they would push away all their older fans, and thats money!
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2009, 2:27 PM
yeah. if marvel gets their hands back on x-men, i would love a reboot. same goes for daredevil.

Daredevil was a good movie for its time, much better than Ang Lees Hulk which was out at the same time, if they used any of the Bendis/Maleev material such as underboss or when he is unmasked they would have a quality movie on their hands. How the [frick] can the Fantastic Turds get a sequel and Daredevil doesn't. [frick] even the Punisher survived Dolph Lundgren raping it.
Moltenman - 9/8/2009, 2:36 PM
Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen both are awesome actors...
TwoFacedJoker - 9/8/2009, 2:43 PM
who knows, maybe a reboot will be good. But as of right now, the X-men franchise is making smallville look good!!
and that is very hard to do!!
supermarioworldE - 9/8/2009, 3:02 PM
@Hawksblueeyes I couldn't have put it better. He brings credibility to the whole genre.

@Corndogburglar They are screwing around with time travel and multidimensionality in the new Trek, they could easily have him in it. Plus I think before he dies, and since Next Generation is pretty beloved by the fans (Picard probably the main reason) he deserves to be in it before he dies.

And like Rorshach said, there are tons of easy fixes for bringing Professor X back. A very quick one would be to just have X3 quickly rewound at the beginning, and them back in Cerebro, saying "this is what will happen if we don't do so and so". Wouldn't hardly even need to mess with any elements of continuity with that.
48and2 - 9/8/2009, 6:36 PM
Hey corndog that does seem to be a fairly plausible and not to complicated storyline, but as you stated it is Fox... so
NoobMike - 9/8/2009, 8:42 PM
star trek the next generation was awesome thanks to stewart as the captain. it would be a shame not to include him in the reboot franchise. great actor and criminally underrated this man deserves screen time as the man has a presence
nicholls805 - 9/9/2009, 6:05 AM
@ noobmike

thanks man, its funny, because you say its plausible and not too complicated, but thats actually exactly what happened in the comics. so i can't really take credit, lol.
CorndogBurglar - 9/9/2009, 7:18 AM
@ 48 and 2

yeah you have a point. and i wouldn't be upset if he were in it. i was just assuming that the next trek films wouldn't have anything to do with time travel, because its "been there done that", y'know?
CorndogBurglar - 9/9/2009, 7:20 AM
I don't think that Xmen franchise needs a reboot, X4 just needs to be better than X3. Stewart is perfect as Xavier. The first Xmen had potential elements in it that could have lead to two awesome sequels which in turn could have utilised alot more anti mutant xenophobia, sentinals (and not holographic ones)
and Xaviers xmen deciding to use their powers to protect humans and mutants. And as already mentioned above, there is no evidence in X3 that Cyclops is dead, only missing. As you all realise, had he been at the final fight, he could have just blasted Phoenix from afar and saved Wolverine the trouble. In the least, it would have made an emotional element to the movie - "Should he kill the woman he loves to save everyone else?"
Perhaps X4 could include a search for Cyclops which leads to Mr Sinister followed at some point by Apocolypse. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Mr Sinister make a clone of Jean. Maybe it was the clone killed at the end of X3 (high hopes) and the real Jean is still out there somewhere.
Hopefully this can make up for X3, is in continuity with the story arc but at the same time can uplift the franchise?
