Who is SABRETOOTH?
SABRETOOTH is Victor Creed, a member of the Weapon X Project and the arch enemy of X-Men's Wolverine. Unlike his X-Man counterpart, SABRETOOTH embraces his primal instincts, leaving death in his wake.

SABRETOOTH is a Marvel Comics supervillain created by writer Chris Claremont and artist/co-writer John Byrne. The character first appearance of the character is in Iron Fist #14 (August 1977). Originally portrayed as a non-powered serial killer, SABRETOOTH is later written as a mutant who possesses bestial superhuman abilities, most notably a rapid healing factor, razor-sharp fangs and claws, and superhuman senses. He is a vicious assassin responsible for numerous deaths both as a paid mercenary and for his personal pleasure.

SABRETOOTH's memories have been tampered with by clandestine organizations such as Weapon X and so much of what appears to be his past is not of credible account. The clearest accounts of Victor's childhood begin with him murdering his brother Luther over a piece of pie. His father then chains him in the basement like an animal and systematically pulls out Victor's elongated canines, which perennially grow back. Victor begs his mother to let him go, but she does not. Years pass until Victor eventually gnaws off his own hand in order to escape the basement and murders both of his parents. However, whether or not these memories are accurate is unclear. It is equally likely that Weapon X would want SABRETOOTH to believe he has always been prone to violence.

Eventually, Creed is recruited into a top secret CIA covert ops unit known as Team X, where Wolverine is also a member. He frequently targets and kills civilians during other fights involving the loose-knit team, but he is loose friends with Wolverine.

SABRETOOTH also got recruited to the Weapon X program, and like many of the members, SABRETOOTH got experimented upon.

He would later resurface as a costumed supervillain that we all know about.

CHANGING APPEARANCES
First Costume
The first time we meet SABRETOOTH, he is not yet Wolverine's Archenemy, he pops-up here and there, first challenging the Immortal Iron Fist. On his early blood-thirsty adventures, he wears an orange costume with fur linings.

Marauders
As part of Mr. Sinister's Marauders, SABRETOOTH updated his costume. This costume became his default costume.

Captured by the X-Men
When SABRETOOTH attacks Professor X, he was captured by the X-Men, and detained in the X-Mansion.

X-Factor
Later SABRETOOTH was fitted with a restraining collar, so that he could be controlled and work with X-Factor.

Brotherhood
It will soon turn out that he was placed in X-Factor as a sleeper agent, to execute X-Factor members the government could not control. He eventually leaves the team, for a time went back to doing mercenary work, and later joined Mystique's team - the Brotherhood.

Return to Weapon X
SABRETOOTH is forced again to become a member of a relaunched Weapon X program, where his skeleton is infused with adamantium once more. SABRETOOTH revealed that by means of genetic enhancement the Weapon X program has increased his strength and accelerated his healing factor. Eventually he escaped the program again and resumed working solo.

Continued Rivalry with Wolverine
SABRETOOTH once again seeks out Wolverine and continue their decades long fight.

Death of SABRETOOTH
SABRETOOTH's deeds plague Wolverine's memories. The latter, not being able to handle it anymore, got the only weapon that can hurt them, the Muramasa Blade. Wolverine stalked SABRETOOTH for some time, and when their eventual fight happened, Wolverine used the blade to hack off SABRETOOTH's head, which leads to his death.

Death is still not the End
SABRETOOTH appeared again to Wolverine, leashed and under the control of the Devil himself, who has claimed to have broken Victor's will. Victor shows defiance by striking the face of his defeated master after Wolverine uses his broken bone claws to pin Satan to a wall. After Wolverine has an interrupted discussion with his father, it is shown that Victor wields Satan's sword, which is being held as a symbol of who is the ruler of hell. Wolverine fights Victor again mentioning as he beheads him once more, that there's no coming back when you're killed by the sword. Wolverine leaves Victor's beheaded soul laying in the pit of Hell.

LIVE APPEARANCES
SABRETOOTH was portrayed by Tyler Mane in the X-Men motion picture released in 2000.

Liev Schreiber portrayed SABRETOOTH in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In the film he was depicted as Victor Creed, half-brother of James Howlett (Wolverine) and that they fought together as mercenaries in the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Regenerative Healing Factor: SABRETOOTH's primary mutant power was an accelerated healing process that enabled him to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of his anatomy with far greater efficiency than an ordinary human. SABRETOOTH's healing ability was dramatically increased in recent years due to various augmentation procedures. SABRETOOTH could fully heal from injuries that result in massive tissue damage or loss such as multiple gunshot wounds, slashes, puncture wounds, blunt force trauma, and severe burns within a matter of moments.

Superhuman Strength: SABRETOOTH possessed superhuman strength that has been artificially augmented on a number of occasions over the years. Initially, he possessed sufficient strength to lift slightly above 800 lbs for brief amounts of time, slightly greater than the maximum amount an ordinary human is capable of lifting.

Superhuman Agility: SABRETOOTH's agility, balance, and bodily coordination were enhanced to levels beyond the human body's natural limits, even those of the finest human athlete.

Superhuman Reflexes: SABRETOOTH's reflexes wase similarly enhanced and were superior to those of the finest human athlete.

Superhumanly Acute Senses: SABRETOOTH's feral mutation provided him superhumanly acute senses. SABRETOOTH could see with greater clarity and greater distances than an ordinary human. His vision extended into the ultraviolet and infrared areas of the electromagnetic spectrum, allowing him to see in near-total darkness and retain the same level of clarity. SABRETOOTH's hearing was similarly enhanced, able to detect sounds that ordinary human's can't and at greater distances. SABRETOOTH also possessed an extremely well developed sense of smell. SABRETOOTH could recognize or track targets by scent, much the same way as a dog or wolf does. His nose could detect minute chemical differences in the scents of different deodorant brands, even if they were purported to be exactly the same scent.

Claws and Fangs:' SABRETOOTH has retractable talons in place of fingernails. The claws are naturally sharp and tougher than that of normal human bone structure, allowing SABRETOOTH to cut through most types of flesh and natural materials. SABRETOOTH's ability to slice completely through a substance depends on the thickness of the substance and the amount of force he can exert. At times, SABRETOOTH's claws, along with his skeleton, have been bonded with Adamantium. As a result, his claws were virtually indestructible. The Adamantium further enhanced the already razor sharp edge of SABRETOOTH's claws and enabled him to slice through almost any surface.

AbilitiesSABRETOOTH is an excellent hand to hand combatant, having been trained by various organizations such as the CIA, Weapon X, the Foreigner, and HYDRA. He is also an expert hunter and tracker, even without the use of his heightened senses. SABRETOOTH also has developed a high resistance to telepathic probing and manipulation. Although his extreme arrogance gives him the appearance of stupidity, he is actually quite intelligent. He routinely hacks into government databases to steal classified information and has escaped the highest levels of incarceration.

Special Skills: Due to his extensive training SABRETOOTH was an exceptional hand-to-hand combatant. He was also a trained expert in multiple types of weapons, vehicles, explosives, and assassination techniques.

This is the 49th article in my Know Your CBM Character series. Any requests and suggestions for an article for this series write it down in the comment section BELOW.

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!

Now for the supergeeks, identify who this character is and what is his connection to SABRETOOTH:

I see a little gap between the first X-Men movie and the Wolverine movie. In the first X-Men movie, Sabretooth and Wolverine act as though they met eachother for the first time, but in the Wolverine movie, they only show Wolverine loosing his memories, and not how Sabretooth lost his. Anyone else see the gap here?

The Sabretooth portrayed in the first X-Men was so much better than the Liev Schreiber one in my opinion

Tyler Mane as Sabretooth was just plain goofy... he looked more like a dumb jock most of the time on screen... Liev Schreiber on the other hand totally got it when he showed a thinking Sabretooth that was both animalistic and a cunning psychopath. Regardless of how X-Men Origins Wolverine had a sucky ending due to Barakapool - Jackman and Schreiber nailed their roles.

Liev owned the role of Sabertooth in Wolverine, Tyler Mane was the single most forgettable character in the X-Men films, even more than Toad and Senator Kelly.
Tyler Mane Sabertooth = Bad
Liev Schreiber Sabertooth = Good

I love Sabertooth he is a great villain and I liked hopw Liev Schreiber portrayed him in X men Origins. Since you are doing X Men characters you should do Apocalypse or Mr. Sinister.
