TDKR: Tom Hardy Goes Bald, Possible Confirmation Of Edward Nashton

Tom Hardy has been snapped with a significantly shorter new hairstyle, and we have a cryptic news paper clipping by a Mr Edward Nashton!..

This will be a fairly speculative article so don't expect any definitive news updates. Anyway, first up..

Tom Hardy there. Even though he is wearing a cap we can see he is sporting a shaved head as well as some burgeoning facial hair. Coincidence or could he be gearing up to portray Dr Hugo Strange? There are other characters he could be prepping for of course.

Next is this...

It came from Spanish site Zona Negativa and as near as I can tell(even with the translation it's not very clear. Maybe some of you guys could make a better stab at it) this is a blown up article from some of the old promotional stuff from The Dark Knight, which displayed various news paper clippings defaced by The Joker. Edward Nashton was featured in the supposed leaked script draft from last week. Even though Nashton was one of The Riddler's alias' in the comics, in this script he is an amalgamation of that character and Hugo Strange. Could this be confirmation of the character's appearance in The Dark Knight Rises? It could be anything to be honest! I wouldn't give it much credence for now. Just thought I'd post it and get your take?

Anthrax - 1/10/2011, 3:47 PM
hmmm very hugo strange I Love it even though I want riddler and catwoman but not the [frick]ed Schumacher version that superkalsaphire jacks off to
Anthrax - 1/10/2011, 3:49 PM
what SHHH said BRING ON THE STRANGE!!!
dellamorte1872 - 1/10/2011, 3:56 PM
its a real shame theres no RIDDLER there is a good amount of potential for the character here. but i must admit the completely shaved head with facial stubble is a indicator that it will prolly be HUGO, so the villains will be HUGO STRANGE and TALIA AL GHUL? those wouldnt be my two choices but if thats all NOLAN's got he must have something there, i kinda knew 2 was always going to be the most entertaining in a way. JOKER + TWO-FACE are BATMAN'S best rogues but as a whole this will be a nice really strong TRILOGY (minus the re-cast aspect)
DoctorAlgernopKrieger - 1/10/2011, 4:27 PM
Hope Tom is playing the center Villain, Until Christopher Nolan, Jonah Nolan, and/or David Goyer tells us who the villain is I'm not going to trust anything else.

interesting........

"Bring On The Strange" Should be the Tagline...
AlexDeLarge87 - 1/10/2011, 4:54 PM
Hugo Strange all the way!:)
Hardy is born to play the role! He is short like Hugo! He is muscular like Hugo! He looks like Hugo! He is great actor so he can bring some deepness to Hugo! And... do i need to say anything else?:)... I thought so!

Talia and Bane or Black Mask as the other villains!
dellamorte1872 - 1/10/2011, 4:56 PM
In Detective Comics #46 Strange starts spreading a fear-inducing powder around the city until a punch from Batman sends Strange falling to his apparent death. (scarecrow must figure into the tale some how even if its small like TDK)
Wadey09 - 1/10/2011, 4:58 PM
i think Joker may have given a hint to Strange's involvment in The Dark Knight.
"Whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you..... STRANGER."
would be a nice tie-in no?
Retribution13 - 1/10/2011, 4:59 PM
Does anybody know that specific article was posted during TDK's production as an easter egg. There is no confirmation. And for GOD SAKES. The script is being read by Warner Brothers now, there SHOULDN'T BE ANY MARKETING.

I remember reading that Edward Nashton letter on the Gotham Times viral sites before the movie came out. It's just a neat little easter egg, not an indication of an upcoming villain.
jbak368 - 1/10/2011, 5:21 PM
He's shooting another movie before TDKR, so the baldness doesn't really mean anything.
Ryden - 1/10/2011, 5:22 PM
Just have him as Hugo Strange, that Edward Nashton combination idea sucks, I'd rather just not have the riddler in the film if this is the plan.
Dusk - 1/10/2011, 5:30 PM
I think the 2nd one is the best one so far. That being said, as long as the 3rd one is as good or better than the 1st, I will be totally satisfied.
Xandera - 1/10/2011, 5:32 PM
Hugo Strange!!!!
RorMachine - 1/10/2011, 5:33 PM
jbak, you sure? Apparently Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is wrapping up, then it's straight into pre-production for TDKR
RockNRollCC - 1/10/2011, 5:59 PM
Really hoping its HUGO [frick]ING STRANGE! Hardy was born to play him!

According to the always relible IMDb.. only joking guys.., Hardy is set to star in the film ''The wettest country in the world'' set the depression, this may for that film..
asavagevandal - 1/10/2011, 6:31 PM
Tom Hardy is Hugo Strange. Take it to the bank.

http://ddpeterson.com/tom-hardy-is-strange-2/

Nashton is a red-herring. He already said there would be no Riddler when everyone was talking about Johnny Depp. The leaked script was a fake.
AiyalKilU - 1/10/2011, 6:58 PM
Nolan already ruled out Riddler... honestly, how thick headed are some of these people who always says things that are only rumors?
Naqoyqatsi - 1/10/2011, 7:21 PM
That column is nothing new. It appeared in the letters to the Editor in Volume 2 of The Gotham Times. Why do people repost these things trying to make up some new "news"? Nothing to see hear folks, move along.
DarthStimpy - 1/10/2011, 7:21 PM
bah no Hugo! Hugo Strange isn't what I would throw as good follow up villain to the Joker. Also i know I'm stepping on some toes but after the Joker basically ruled Gotham's crime scene in the last movie it pulls down the idea that Black Mask would be such a baddy. Bane Croc Catwoman, Penquin do a character that carries volume as extreme in dynamic physical presence not in frustrating obsession and pulls the threads out of a greatly stitched batman trilogy. Save that Hugo Stuff for the video game.
JackNapier3d - 1/10/2011, 7:25 PM
HARDYS TOO YOUNG TOO PLAY STRANGE.....
ALmighty1080 - 1/10/2011, 7:27 PM
Lex!
JackNapier3d - 1/10/2011, 7:28 PM
I THINK HARDY SHOULD PLAY BANE BUT MORE OF A HUMAN BANE SHOW MORE OF HIS BACK STORY WIT A NOLAN TWIST THEN PUT THE MASK ON IN THE MIDDLE OR END OF THE MOVIE LIKE HAVENT DENT BECOMING 2-FACE IN TDK...
RichardTheNerd - 1/10/2011, 7:36 PM
He would play a great Strange I reckon. However, he could be getting ready for Black Mask too (so that the mask fits well?).

JackNapier3d - 1/10/2011, 7:42 PM
@richardthenerd strange is like a 50-60 year old man wit wrinkles and grey facial hair i think hardys in his 20's it wouldnt look right but i do agree wit the black mask thing shaved head for the prostetics/mask...
frontierpsychiatrist - 1/10/2011, 8:20 PM
Sweet!
KidGoku - 1/10/2011, 8:33 PM
Lex Luther.
ALmighty1080 - 1/10/2011, 8:36 PM
i thought filming for batman doesnt start for awhile, his hair will grow back by then.
Checkmate - 1/10/2011, 8:37 PM
Riddler/Strange combo = Sucks
Strange = Stupid
Riddler = Dumb
typicalfanboy - 1/10/2011, 8:51 PM
there are so many grammatical errors in that "article." no way in hell anyone can take that seriously. plus why would nolan use just the name edward nashton? unless nolan comes out and confirms anything, i will never believe this crap.
Knightstalker - 1/10/2011, 9:10 PM
I'll bet Nolan's posting red herring's on this site just to mess with people and keep the wild speculation fueled up so he can zing everybody when he actually releases some real information.
EditNinja - 1/10/2011, 9:18 PM
That's strange. That's Hugo Strange - bring it on!
UncleDrew - 1/10/2011, 11:28 PM
I don't know what to say about the combination
FrankGarret - 1/11/2011, 12:32 AM
Awwwww.
I was hoping he would be Black Mask.
HEARTOFHUSH - 1/11/2011, 12:36 AM
Bring back two-face..catwoman is the most important villian next to joker and two face. she has to be in Nolans final batman. with rachael dawes out of the picture batman will need a love intrest, even tho hes had many it should be selina kyle no question. tom hardy could pull off hugo or even the riddler. just dont forget about batmans story either with wayne manor and the batcave finally!
HEARTOFHUSH - 1/11/2011, 12:41 AM
This has to be the BEST batman film and im not sure hugo strange could do that as the main antagonist in TDKR. with all the cbm's slated to come out 2012: spider-man, avengers, superman?, wolverine and others, Nolan has to pull out all the his cards and make this epic. Topping the first two films will be very, very tough.
