You may remember a while back I posted a short teaser trailer for Elfquest: A Fan Imagining. Well since then the ladies behind the ambitious work have been making waves in the fan community, bringing about somewhat of a resurgence in popularity for Wendy and Richard Pini's excellent comic series. Below is the full trailer for their "fan imagining", and details of their upcoming appearance at this years Comic Con..

ELFQUEST SOARS AT SAN DIEGO'S COMIC-CON

"ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining" Creators, Cast, and Comic Book Originators to Participate in Panel Discussion at Renowned Fan Convention

Los Angeles – Elves are descending on San Diego at Comic-Con International 2011 for the panel ElfQuest: From the Woods to the Web on Friday, July 22nd at 8pm.

New media producers/actors Stephanie Thorpe (GOLD: Night of the Zombie King) and Paula Rhodes (A Good Knight’s Quest) are responsible for the current phenomenon of fan resurgence in the mystical comic book series ElfQuest, created by Wendy and Richard Pini in 1978.

Thorpe and Rhodes collaborated to create the fan-made, non-profit trailer “ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining” which has been earning high praise from the media and enormous fan support since launching in April at the Screen Actors Guild New Media premiere. Lifelong fans of the comic book, Thorpe and Rhodes pulled together their skills and resources, along with a cast of famed ‘women of the web’ and donations from other devoted fans to create the world of Two Moons.

ElfQuest tells the tale of a tribe of elves who find themselves driven from their forest by humans and must find a new home. It’s known for its magical artistry and for being a vanguard of the indie/fantasy scene. Originally self published by the Pini’s, the comic book series was later picked up by Marvel and DC Comics respectively.

Up next, Thorpe and Rhodes are looking at features that resonate with their geek heritage for their next project together. Individually, Rhodes will return to webseries Hollywood Wasteland, while Thorpe is currently working on a sci-fi series with director Andrew Erin (Confined), and a travel/food/fashion show with host Kristyn Burtt. Thorpe is proud to announce 10 episodes of the new series “Shelf Life,” premiering at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The live action comedy was produced by Thorpe with Yuri Lowenthal (Legion of Superheroes) and Tara Platt (Afterworld) and directed by Eisner Award-winning comic author Paul Jenkins.

Panel Details: Friday, July 22nd at 8pm / San Diego Convention Center, Room 4
Panel Participants: Stephanie Thorpe (GOLD: Night of the Zombie King), Paula Rhodes (A Good Knight’s Quest), Wendy and Richard Pini (authors), with host Taryn Southern (Battle: Los Angeles)
About the Panel: The panel will examine the changing landscape of fan fiction, social media, and the web, bringing together the creators and cast of “ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining”; along with special guests Wendy and Richard Pini, who will share exclusive, never-before-seen ElfQuest art and the latest news.

Many thanks to Stephanie Thorpe for providing the info.

TheLight - 7/11/2011, 9:22 AM
Is it wrong to want to do a elf?
BlueScarab - 7/11/2011, 9:25 AM
not if they are that hot.
gangbuster - 7/11/2011, 9:38 AM
What the hell was going on in that?
Shaman - 7/11/2011, 9:39 AM
I kinda wish it was a porn.
RorMachine - 7/11/2011, 9:51 AM
haha. Well, it's pretty abstract I think. Even if you have read the comics I think they are just combining some random imagery, characters and plot points. I might be wrong though.

That was just as bad as the short trailer. I couldn't finish watching. Just because your camera is expensive and you have eye candy doesn't mean your movie or trailer will be good.

Get REAL actors (not models), learn how to edit, learn cinematography, learn how to direct actors...nevermind. Just quit and leave it to people that know what they're doing.

Didn't this cost them thousands of dollars? I could have done this for $500.

mwmcintyre - 7/11/2011, 10:39 AM
As a longtime Elfquest fan, I'm glad they did it, I can appreciate the effort but impressed is definitely NOT among the feelings I get from watching that. Decent to good cosplay with hot women, nothing more.
superpooper - 7/11/2011, 11:01 AM
Ok wait, were they using women to play the male parts? Is that what was going on? Because the make up kind of threw me. Not bad for a fan film, even though i lost interest about half way through and bailed before the end. I'm impressed at how many attractive women he got to be in this. He must work at a strip club or something. I did expect the cave men to start nailing those broads though. Bow chika bow wow.
alexi52 - 7/11/2011, 11:33 AM
so is this porn
Scarycherry - 7/11/2011, 12:22 PM
Great! But kinda weird not seeing Cutter & Skywise. I mean one has a baby but there are no male elves?
RorMachine - 7/11/2011, 12:53 PM
Yeah this is all about the ladies..unless Supertrooper is right and there are girls playing dudes? Didn't recognize any of the male Elves costumes though.
tumbler - 7/11/2011, 1:49 PM

superpooper - 7/11/2011, 6:27 PM
Yeah, I think the chicks are supposed to be Cutter and Skywise. They're dressed like 'em. I know cuz I liked this stuff once. Once.
superpooper - 7/11/2011, 6:34 PM
...and that's "pooper" to you @ror lol. Actually, I just watched it again and i can't tell. They all have huge tits so maybe they're all supposed to be broads. I know there were dudes in the books. I don't know. Who cares? They need to get naked.
