IMO Something about him reminds me of Legolas aka Orlando Bloom. Both his demeanor and the way he talks. No wonder he is playing Bard the Bowman.

Cautiously optimistic here. I guess with two movies to fill, we'll probably see a lot of characters with larger roles than in the original story. I just hope that it doesn't change the overall story. Bard the Bowman is a good and interesting character, and it probably won't hurt things to give him a bit more to do.

TokenOfKrypton, I always imagined Bard the Bowman to be the complete opposite of Legolas. Orlando Bloom is a can't act pretty boy gobshite ( I thought Legolas was the least interesting character in the Fellowship ) while Bard was supposed to be a strong silent type of character. I wonder if he hadn't already used Sean Bean for Boromir he would have cast him as Bard. In my opinion a much better fit for the character.

comicb00kguy. What more do you want him to do? he killed the dragon and helped lead the armies to recover compensation from the dwarves and he fought in the battle of the five armies. I suppose we could see more of what happened to him after the battle but I don't know what relevance that would have.

Moltenman - You might spoil people with this comment.

And Bard probably will have a bigger role, since he's important to the story.

In PJ we trust.

Im glad they are including him in this Hobbit series....one of the characters that we missed in the LOTR trilogy was Tom Bombadil.

Moltenman: I'm aware of what Bard did in the story. I'm talking "more to do" in the sense of fleshing the character out a little more, not in finding new big things for him to accomplish. We're going to probably see a fair amount of padding of things so Jackson can get two three hour movies from a story that could probably be served just fine in one. All I'm saying is that I don't mind them doing that padding as long as it doesn't change the major events of the story.
