Cliff Chiang speaks to Popcandy about the new take on Wonder Woman..

"The idea is to move forward with Wonder Woman in a way that makes her story bigger and really cements her place in the DC Universe so she can really stand up next to Superman and Batman as a unique character. What we want to do is really give a specifict take on her and her personality. So we're focusing more on mythology and this huge wealth of mythological stories to draw from, while at the same time (modernizing) them a bit, so we're not seeing togas! So you're seeing all these things with fresh eyes again."

Fastestmanalive - 9/20/2011, 10:56 AM
Still not sure about this, WW could really go both ways, and while the art is not terrible it aint that great either, so still not decided on this one.

Nightwing Im definitely pickin up from tomorrows batch, and Batman probably, everything else I'll wait to see if its good first.
kriswone - 9/20/2011, 10:57 AM
Why is all the DC "New" art directly from the 80's? awful.
PsyBoy - 9/20/2011, 10:59 AM
This looks awesome!
The art will take some getting used to though...
BuckySoldier - 9/20/2011, 11:00 AM
Definitely picking this up tomorrow. I'm very interested to see the direction they take this. I like the new costume even though I liked the pants look
DarthTesla - 9/20/2011, 11:01 AM
With Azzarello writing, this could potentially be one of the best new DC titles out there.
PirateOpossum - 9/20/2011, 11:01 AM
Aaaaaand.... she's naked.
- Well, not getting this one for my kids.
Gusto - 9/20/2011, 11:06 AM
They gonna get it on or what?
MaddMonkk - 9/20/2011, 11:13 AM
don't like the silver.
ACira - 9/20/2011, 11:15 AM
"A man with eyes" - Zola

"...threw me a key" - Zola
"Question Mark?" - Diana

great dialogue there...
TerminatorMode - 9/20/2011, 11:15 AM
never read a wonder woman comic but this sure looks a lot more interesting than what i've seen of her lately - nice one ror!
ACira - 9/20/2011, 11:17 AM
@MaddMonk agreed, Wonder Woman's always been known for the gold on her costume... That'd be like making the red on Superman's costume brown (oh wait, they did that in Returns)...
It'd be like making parts of Green Lantern red.
TheWatcher - 9/20/2011, 11:18 AM
She looks like Hendricks. Yeah if Hendricks lost about 40 pounds and toned up.
95 - 9/20/2011, 11:18 AM
Diana, why can't they ever get you right on film, gurl?
Dedpool - 9/20/2011, 11:46 AM
Not feeling the art, but always feeling when they use mythology in her stories, which in my opinion is never enough. There's a wealth of stuff they can do, without it being Monster of the week, or WW vs Ares or Hades or whatever.
Greengo - 9/20/2011, 11:49 AM
a man with eyes!!!!! OMG!!!!
Greengo - 9/20/2011, 11:51 AM
@SteveRogersSon: Word
headlopper - 9/20/2011, 11:54 AM
Not drawn hot enough.
Greengo - 9/20/2011, 11:55 AM
Shotty writing imho
HelaGood - 9/20/2011, 11:55 AM
how does that sheet stay on her???
HelaGood - 9/20/2011, 11:55 AM
yeah this is not how WW should be...
VictorHugo - 9/20/2011, 12:00 PM
Sounds like a straight, honest, traditional and respectful Wonder Woman comic. Guess that shows that a reboot was totally unnecessary.
skot888 - 9/20/2011, 12:15 PM
I'm stoked for this, huge WW fan though. The art is okay I'm used to Mister Chang's art style from Green Arrow and Black Canary so I'm cool with it, it's no Terry Dodson (he needs to leave Marvel and go back to WW. Just IMO.) but it works.
skot888 - 9/20/2011, 12:18 PM
I've admittedly only been following Uncanny X-Force by flipping through it at the shop, it looks interesting, but sadly the Marvel Mutant verse was killed for me a long time ago. I should give it another chance.
SpiderBat209 - 9/20/2011, 1:02 PM
I lived with 2 Lesbians for 3 months back in 2006. My friend who was 35 at my job, and her 19 year old girlfriend took me in, when the Ex-Wife booted me out of the house, to move her new dude in.

BEST THREE MONTHS OF MY LIFE! <3 ;D

Not gonna lie, I miss being "In a relationship" with two women. We got along great together, but I moved to California to fight for custody of my kids. By the time the custody war was over, they broke up. :(

Sorry about the rant; I've been drinking Arizona Green Tea with Honey.

The Art Sucks Period
alucard365 - 9/20/2011, 1:05 PM
This looks good, i'm going to pick this up. either that girl is short,or Diana is really tall.
headlopper - 9/20/2011, 1:35 PM
@Intruder- Well said, about everything!
brewtownpsych - 9/20/2011, 1:35 PM
She would definitely be on top.

CarpesDiems - 9/20/2011, 2:33 PM
We Want Tits!!! she is wonderwoman she deserves some wondertits damm it!!
dbzmaster789 - 9/20/2011, 3:16 PM
Azzarello Rocks!
ScarletVendetta - 9/20/2011, 3:26 PM
I really liked WW better with the long pants costume... this one says "we tried a different way but cannot stick with it cause readers want sexy" wich is really lame... and makes the readers look like pigs who wack off to WW... wich is even more lame...
mainstream05 - 9/20/2011, 4:25 PM
First four pages and Wonder Woman is stark naked. Yup. Totally female empowerment.
brewtownpsych - 9/20/2011, 5:18 PM
I say show a little titty, what, will kids' eues fall out? Ridiculous. And I got no problem w/ trying to make WW provactive. 1) let's be hones, target audience is males and that's what they like, and 2) saying a strong woman can't also be an object of sexual desire is out-dated 60s feminism and way simplistic. The new feminism recognizes that some, indeed perhaps most women want to be desired in this way.
vtopa - 9/20/2011, 6:15 PM
Weak art work, and sorry bit Wonder Woman should be built like a brick SH&^%house not a model from a dove commercial.
CaptainAmerica1945 - 9/20/2011, 6:30 PM
Not sure why they had to change the gold in her costume to silver. Just looks off to me.
mainstream05 - 9/20/2011, 6:30 PM
@brewtownpsych
If you've ever taken a sociology class or are familiar with the concept of social patriarchy, you'd know that the reasoning that "perhaps most women want to be desired" that way is biased and as simplistic as you're accusing 60's feminism of being (though that goes without saying since you apply it to the idea that a strong woman can't also be the object of sexual desire).

I love women and I love seeing women naked and I don't believe there's anything inherently wrong with that. But I don't pick up a Wonder Woman comic to see it either. I'd be kind of weirded out if the first three pages of Superman #1 showed Clark naked and the artist using ridiculous, Austin Powers-ish ways to hide his dong. Sure, it happens - but it's still weird. It's only acceptable that Diana be shown off, teasing the readers with nudity because the creative team is catering to the male audience. Why's that wrong? Because DC keeps insisting that Wonder Woman is a symbol of female empowerment - but drawing a woman naked to tantalize men, only holding back from revealing anything to appease censors, is NOT female empowerment. It's stuff for men to jack off to. It does nothing for women.

ScarlettVendetta complains that WW's no-pants costume makes readers look like pigs who whack off to her. I don't think so - I think it's scenes like this that do that. It's holding back the medium.
mainstream05 - 9/20/2011, 6:32 PM
It's not even like there's anything wrong with setting the scene in her bedroom or that she has to wear pajamas. Just throw a nightie on her. Problem solved.
brewtownpsych - 9/20/2011, 6:56 PM
lol@mainstream ... yeah, i will be sure and read up on your social patriarchy and such when i'm not 10 year's past freshman year in college in my second life.

the point is, YOU may want to see WW this way, but there is nothing wrong with others or even DC from wanting it this way. I don't turn this into a man vs. woman thing, each sex is different and there's nothing wrong with that. if you don't see that now, you will some day lil' guy. ever feminist i know who is old enough to know the difference understands its all about opportunity, including the opportunity to be an sexual object, if that's what they desire. female empowerment all the way.

but i'm sure you know better than them.
brewtownpsych - 9/20/2011, 6:57 PM
damn tiny phone keypad .... ^ "YOU may NOT want ... " and "every feminist ..."
Action - 9/20/2011, 7:46 PM
I think people should read the WW #1 first and then give their comments about the comic. Right now, I like wonder woman's costume and I will probably like the comic.
ISeeStupidPeople - 9/20/2011, 9:09 PM
Goodbye forever Pants, we hardly got to know you.
drodriguezww - 9/27/2011, 7:29 AM
I don't under stand why comment's about [frick]ing fat woman versus thin women is even going on.. seriously why comment on the message board for this issue if you are not going to comment on the issue.. seriously this isn't facebook
drodriguezww - 9/27/2011, 7:36 AM
The art is fantastic, WW is more suited to stylized illustration... The colors are amazing and the depiction of the Gods is a nice touch, reminds me of the Rucka run where Athena had a Laptop and Ares finally had a Face.... The dialog was sparse but most if the new DC issues are light , the first story arc needs to be viewed in it's entirety versus the first issue... This defender of humanity from the Gods' gig gives her purpose with out the huge complexity that being a political figure did in her previous series. I think that it is more straight forward with out being dumbed down and won't turn people off due to a preachy factor... Very excited for the reboot was worried after the Odyssey arc..
