Has The Wolverine Been Delayed Yet Again?

Moviehole have some potentially disturbing news for those already put out by the many problems plaguing Hugh Jackman's return to the screen as Wolverine. It seems scheduling issues and some turmoil in Japan may delay shooting once again...

This movie just can't seem to get a break. First Darren Aronofsky, a director anyone that knows anything about movies would have killed to see direct a CBM, was forced to walk away from the project. A decent replacement was found in Walk The Line's James Mangold but then shooting was put back to "early 2012". Well now that may be delayed even further.

From Clint at Moviehole..

I spoke to someone who had recently met with director James Mangold about mixing it up with that particular hairball on the big screen, and he/she has been told that due to some problems on the Japan side (not quite sure what; politics, red-tape and ill-fated “Grudge” remakes may have something to do with the dent in the relations there) the film has been delayed. Again. They’ll resume talks again next year. I don’t know when the film will happen, but I believe it will – the script is said to be stellar (as opposed to the first “Wolverine”, whose script I’d also use an ‘S’ word to describe).

There is also speculation that Hugh Jackman's commitment to another version of Les Miserables may be contributing to the hold up. Sources report that there is no definite set shoot date but it will most likely not be early 2012 anyway. I really want to see this happen. I'm probably not quite as critical of the last Wolverine flick as many of you but I am still aware that it wasn't nearly as good as it should have been. I want to see Hugh Jackman bow out of playing this character with a truly great movie. If that means it has to be delayed again then so be it, I just want it done right when it finally does come to fruition. How bout you guys? Upset or happy about this news?

I really want someone shorter and bulkier in the role anway. I'd also like an R rated wolverine flick. He's a samurai, ninja, berserker mutant soldier assassin for petes sake!

I mean Hugh has been great. just want something a bit more sorce material accurate.

this is bullshit.hugh already confirmed that there will be very little filming in japan,like 5%.
also with the film not going in front of the cameras before next may,june they have time to do everything right
so i say false
kurekurcubic - 11/29/2011, 8:41 AM
and ive just been at moviehole and theres nothing about it
WolvieCBM - 11/29/2011, 8:41 AM
But it was already said that they will start next year. I don't get it. Either way, as long as they make it right, I don't care if it's delayed for couple of months.
AlexDeLarge87 - 11/29/2011, 8:48 AM
If Darren would have stayed as the director i bet we already would have a trailer and the filming would be finished longtime ago.
Shaman - 11/29/2011, 8:51 AM
Just don't [frick]ing make it while you're at it. If you have to deal with so much shit that might even make the movie fail, why not just scratch the idea entirely. Just make X4.
kurekurcubic - 11/29/2011, 9:00 AM
this is the thing.hugh and donner both said that there is no official start date.but they will not start before summer of 2012.so there ,there is no new delay,just the old one and that is the last one.
all in all this time next year we will have a wrapped wolverine movie-100%
StrangerX - 11/29/2011, 9:02 AM
[frick] it I'm done with this movie

@shaman- I'm with you...as usual. Either get the shit together or just move on. I'd like to see this sequel but get to it dammit!
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 11/29/2011, 9:27 AM
Get your freakin' stuff together, FOX!!! You either make this movie somehow, or scratch this idea and do another movie (one that you're actually good at). If they keep on delaying this movie, then there's little to no chance that we'll EVER see the movie.
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 9:28 AM
@SuperArgo

We?

Who the [frick] is "we"?

Speak for yourself. You do not represent me or what I want. Stop projecting what you want on other people.
StrangerX - 11/29/2011, 9:35 AM
MovieTheaterLad hasn't realized yet that Superargo speaks in a third person and may have a split personality as well.
BmanHall - 11/29/2011, 9:35 AM
Good. Delay that shit until the end of time.
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 9:36 AM
Because honestly? I think most of the X-Men's costumes are duuuuuuuuumb as all get out. That mask makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. That's the problem with these costumes. You have to look at it from the perspective of "Why would these people wear this. What function does it serve?" Or better yet, look at it from the perspective of the people making the costumes. "Why would this person wear this color scheme? Where would this mask or armor part be practical?" Short answer: they're not.

The movies and Morrison did it right. The black leather makes much much MUCH more sense for a paramilitary group to wear. If people can look at a swat team or Rainbow Six and go "Oh boy! Help is on the way!", then it makes no sense for the X-Men to NOT emulate that.
Zarog - 11/29/2011, 9:43 AM
Honestly, I don't care if this movie never comes out. Actually, scratch that, I want this and any other CBM's from FOX to NEVER come out.
BigTodd71 - 11/29/2011, 9:44 AM
by time the get around to making this movie they might as well adapt old man logan
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 9:45 AM
@Zarog

Even if they're good?
m0th3r - 11/29/2011, 9:58 AM
I got an idea FOX..give all the mutants back to Marvel Studios and let us have a decent movie..maybe jackman has figured that out and he just doesnt want to openly attach himself to another turd..
joeker - 11/29/2011, 10:01 AM
well its not definitively confirmed so it might not be delayed but by God will these people get their priorities right & get this film made, & it better be worth the wait
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 10:01 AM
@Ziggggggy

Wolverine has ridiculous healing powers and unbreakable skeleton.

I think I'll be fine.

Also, it kinda defeats the purpose of being out. The whole point is to NOT feel you need to hide yourself. Captain America, Iron man, Thor, the rest of the Avengers. They have no problem reavealing their identities. And people feel comfortable being able to look into their faces knowing that they're there to look them in the eye and tell them everything will be alright.

And besides, most of the X-Men in the comics didn't wear masks anyway.
MrSuperheromoviefan - 11/29/2011, 10:02 AM
i don't want to see this never come out
MaddMonkk - 11/29/2011, 10:04 AM
movietheaterlad's idea of a good costume
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 10:04 AM
@Nomis

And yet they're still radically different from their 616 counterparts. Captain America wears his flag. Iron Man likes ferraris. Thor is an Asguardian warrior. They all have their reasons for having colors.

The X-Men don't need a reason for wearing individual bright uniforms because they're not the same kind of team as the Avengers. They wear uniforms because they are a para-military and rescue group. It's the same reason why cops and firefighters all wear uniforms. The X-men are exactly like that, where as the Avengers are more like a team that would consist of a cop, a firefighter, a paramedic, etc. etc.
Ryguy88 - 11/29/2011, 10:07 AM
I'd rather wait and it be good than a rush job....and I'm not so sure Marvel Studios is the best place for Wolverine as they tend to lighten things up a bit too much and try to slap everyone's face on a lunch box.

Fox has put out two of the best sequels/remakes in the last few years in First Class and Planet of the Apes, I think they have proven themselves to be as capable as any studio of putting out great summer action movies.
MrSuperheromoviefan - 11/29/2011, 10:08 AM
@MovieTheaterLad

"I think I'll be fine." You forget that they can capture him and torture him.

"Captain America, Iron man, Thor, the rest of the Avengers. They have no problem reavealing their identities. And people feel comfortable being able to look into their faces knowing that they're there to look them in the eye and tell them everything will be alright." But, the Avengers are heroes. Wolverine is a murderer.

"And besides, most of the X-Men in the comics didn't wear masks anyway." Not all the X-Men are murderers.
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 10:18 AM
@MaddMonk

Well actually, I was talking about costumes like THIS.

But hey, you're free to believe whatever you want, bro.
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 10:20 AM
@Ziggggy

But the government does not do stuff like that, though. If they have no proof that the X-Men are hurting people or are training mutant kids to kill humans or take over the world, then they'd have no reason to. Sure, they'd probably want them to register that way they can keep an eye on them, and maybe they'd want to be more involved with what they do so that they can learn how exactly the mutant population is growing and developing, but the American government doesn't just do random raids like that, even in the comics, without ANY evidence to back up their reasoning.
thewolfx - 11/29/2011, 10:22 AM
@MovieTheaterLad

that costume sucks ass

wolverine costume should be faithful to his astonishing x-men costume but brought to the modern era like raimis spiderman
MaddMonkk - 11/29/2011, 10:23 AM
@movietheaterlad-i was just playin' you burnt me a while back so i was gettin' even...tryin' to get even anyway. I didn't like the black leather outfits the xmen wore for awhile. but the xmen are the oputlaws of the marvel heroes so this makes sense.
redleaf - 11/29/2011, 10:26 AM
Reboot and Recast Wolverine.

Ditch Singer's continuity and start with Vaughn's X-Men: First Class.
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 10:26 AM
@thewolfx

wolverine costume should be faithful to his astonishing x-men costume

It would look stupid. There is no way you could not make it look stupid.

Spider-Man has the benefit of having his costume being originally intended for a potential wrestling career.
hoodedjester - 11/29/2011, 10:26 AM
At this rate this movie is never going to get off the ground. Hugh is probably pissed that he has been training for this movie and it is at a constant stand still.

Give the rights back to marvel already - at least they'll get it made. Hell, they might even put him in a costume other than a white beater and a leather jacket
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 10:28 AM
@MaddMonk

I'm sorry. That image just makes me angry in general, mostly because then I get THIS song stuck in my head...

Cross - 11/29/2011, 10:28 AM
well ferk
gambgel - 11/29/2011, 10:29 AM
Fox, why not to skip this proyect, and give green light to First Class sequel and making it your MAIN next movie?
MovieTheaterLad - 11/29/2011, 10:29 AM
@redleaf

THEY'RE.
THE.
SAME.
CONTINUITY.

@ SuperArgo

The mast looks real nice. Who drew that? It looks like it can be done. Which is what needs to happen. Leather jacket with the mask is a no go tho.
Shadowelfz - 11/29/2011, 10:32 AM
That sucks I hope they make this movie. All these delay's have me wondering...

Also sorry SuperArgo I love wolvie as much as anyone else but I think seeing any of his 'original' costumes on the big screen will look ridiculous. At least the mask will if they keep the rest it wouldn't be as bad. Many fanboys will be happy to be sure, but the rest of the people seeing the movie might be a little put off by the odd looking uniform, know what I mean? Watchmen and Scott Pilgrim showed us that a CBM cannot be succesful on just fans alone.
BigK1337 - 11/29/2011, 10:34 AM
@MovieTheaterLad

"It would look stupid. There is no way you could not make it look stupid."

I think this picture from the game Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 says otherwise.

thewolfx - 11/29/2011, 10:34 AM
@MovieTheaterLad

wrong as hell again

people thought blue and yellow x-men costumes would look stupid also

then came fist ass imean first class

its ways to stay faithful and look cool

unlike your bland bobble head swat suit you think looks so tuff :'
