At the New York TASM Event the current Wall Crawler said that he would like the next incarnation to be "a half Hispanic, half African-American actor". In other words the Ultimate version of the character..

Bleedin Cool have posted a brief update from the The NY Amazing Spider-Man event, and while we don't get any footage descriptions, (keep an eye out for that very soon from our own Josh Wilding who attended the London event) we do discover that Andrew Garfield is a fan of the new Ultimate Spider-Man comic, and not only that..

Actor Andrew Garfield was asked, on stage about the honour of playing Spider-Man. He told the crowd that the role is bigger than any one actor, that last time it was Toby, this time it’s him and next time… he wants to see the role played by a half Hispanic, half African-American actor.

Now while he doesn't come right out and say it, it's pretty clear he is talking about Miles Morales, the current Ultimate incarnation of Spider-Man. Now we assume Garfield will be playing the role at least one more time as a sequel to Marc Webb's movie has already been confirmed, but after that? Or a third..fourth outing? How would you guys feel about Brian Bendis controversial Miles Morales gracing the big screen as Spider-Man?

Nothing against the current ultimate spider-man, but I want mine Parker on the big screen ;)
PaulRom - 2/6/2012, 1:50 PM
The character seems to be alright for the comics, but to me Peter Parker should be the only Spider-Man on film.
darthbobtarkas - 2/6/2012, 1:51 PM
I disagree. Spider-Man is NOT a symbol, like Batman, or Superman, or the X-Men. He IS a character. Spider-Man IS Peter Parker. Peter Parker IS Spider-Man.
Mystery - 2/6/2012, 1:52 PM
I completely agree with darthbobtarkas
P862010 - 2/6/2012, 2:01 PM
peter parker is the only spiderman

not because he is white but because he is a beloved character since he was created

superotherside - 2/6/2012, 2:02 PM
Nahhh... not needed. Parker is the one and only for a main series. That said, they could do a spin off movie, perhaps. Or maybe a TV show?
RorMachine - 2/6/2012, 2:06 PM
Agreed, don't want anyone aside from Parker BUT I have liked this character from what I have read is I'd be cool with some kind of spinoff, or whos to say after another few movies we wouldn't welcome the change?
CaptainObvious - 2/6/2012, 2:07 PM
No. Peter Parker is the one and only Spider-Man.
thewolfx - 2/6/2012, 2:08 PM
and he claims to be a spiderman fan ....
wyokid - 2/6/2012, 2:09 PM
There's hinting and then there's smacking you over the head with it.
Spidey31 - 2/6/2012, 2:09 PM
No Peter no spider. That's that
MassExecutions - 2/6/2012, 2:10 PM
Yeah, this is never gonna happen, at least not till ol' Miles Morales has the multiple decades of cultural impact that Peter Parker has. The studio just couldn't know they would pull in the same kind of cash they would with the better known version.
TrueRedBlue - 2/6/2012, 2:14 PM
Why not? Looks like they're telling different dimensions with each reboot. It's only a matter of time before we see a Miles Morales Spidey movie.
Minghagz - 2/6/2012, 2:16 PM
[frick] that bullshit! Peter Parker's character as Spiderman has a huge impact on most "comic nerds" so bringing in someone who has yet to put out a legacy like Peter is just [frick]ing stupid bullshit.

Andrew, you've succesfully made me dislike you more.
Cerebro - 2/6/2012, 2:16 PM
Peter has many more stories to tell before miles should bee brought into the mix.
headlopper - 2/6/2012, 2:17 PM
I guess all the hates getting to him...unless he wants to go the Al Jolson route.
Ceejay - 2/6/2012, 2:17 PM
Naturally it'll happen as long as the Ultimate Version still exists in comic form. Hollywood likes to appeal tot he greatest spectrum of audience as possible and moaning comic fanboys are way too small and insignificant a percentage of the greater viewing public to matter.
Cerebro - 2/6/2012, 2:20 PM
@MrEcho That is a good point I wonder if their would be the same hate for Ben Reilly that their is for Miles if they went down the clone saga in the movies.

Love your name by the way, one of the best characters on lost.
MarkJulian - 2/6/2012, 2:23 PM
I agree. By the time Miles [if ever] reaches the big screen Peter Parker will have long been back and the two will be fighting side-by-side. Would be cool to see Miles in his own flick with maybe a cameo from Andrew.
dahamma - 2/6/2012, 2:23 PM
Im black and Frick no to this lol Peter Parker is white dang it. And I HATE Ultimates
spiderman2020 - 2/6/2012, 2:24 PM
I don't mind Miles Morales in the comics but there can only be one spiderman on the big screen and that man is Peter Parker!
MassExecutions - 2/6/2012, 2:24 PM
@Cerebro - Did someone say "CLONE SAGA IN THE MOVIES"!?!?!?!

leopoldinio - 2/6/2012, 2:26 PM
always Peter Parker ! Ultimate Spider-Man doesn't exist!
marvel72 - 2/6/2012, 2:27 PM
no f*ckin way,if ya gonna do an alternative spidey it should be either spider-man noir or spider-man 2099.
Mystery - 2/6/2012, 2:28 PM
I am waiting for a detailed write up guys :)
MassExecutions - 2/6/2012, 2:30 PM
@marvel72 - Hey! And Spider-man 2099 was a minority race, too! At least a minority today...maybe not by 2099...hmm have to run some demographic numbers on that. Also, he only represents one minority, not two, like Miles. Yep, just not as good.
hoodedjester - 2/6/2012, 2:33 PM
screw miles - Parker is spiderman and that is the only person who should play the role on the big screen.

I've tried reading the first few issues with Miles and I don't care for it. Prefer the non-ultimate universe far better.
RaleighAntrobus - 2/6/2012, 2:35 PM
Relax people... If that's how he feels than fine... doesn't mean (and we all know it won't) it's going to happen.

Some of you take this sh*t so f*cking personal. Get a grip.
MrBlueSky - 2/6/2012, 2:36 PM

There is only one Spidey, and his name is Peter Parker.
hoperidesalone - 2/6/2012, 2:48 PM
I think it would be pretty rad to see Morales on the big screen. I don't think it will happen, though. At least not for many years..
JDUKE25 - 2/6/2012, 2:55 PM
One word: No

Three words: Peter is Spider-man

BJD - 2/6/2012, 2:55 PM
I was sitting 10ft from Garfield when said that today...No way, only Parker!!
Spiderbite - 2/6/2012, 2:59 PM
I know this is a little off topic but is it true that the trailer comes at midnight tonight? Says that on the Facebook page.
marvel72 - 2/6/2012, 3:00 PM
@ jduke25

"peter is spider-man" is four words but i'll let you off. :D

EvilTracy - 2/6/2012, 3:06 PM
NO, Parker should be the only Spider-Man on film. Now, I wouldn't have a problem if they made Parker another ethnicity in a film. I loved the idea of making Donald Glover Peter Parker.
BJD - 2/6/2012, 3:14 PM
Oh yeah I saw the new trailer today in NYC and you still don't get to see a fully transformed Lizard!!!
FightAs0ne - 2/6/2012, 3:16 PM
Why all the fricking hate for Miles?!? His story is great so far and I'm enjoying it...You spiderman fanboys are harder to please than the Avengers vs. TDKR fanboys. Why cant we all accept change as it comes and love the spider-man franchise like it deserves to be loved?
FightAs0ne - 2/6/2012, 3:17 PM
@tracy I would like to see Donald play spiderman later on down the line...
OdinsBeard - 2/6/2012, 3:23 PM
he just said "hispanic" he didn't say "ultimate"

2099?
OtakuPapi - 2/6/2012, 3:23 PM
I'd personally love to see Miles Morales as Ultimate Spider Man ... as far as a public draw it would draw in alot of younger kids simply because he is a younger kid and of course all the movies would most likely be pg-13. Actually when i think of it, it would be the perfect Disney movie if Sony didnt own the rights. But it would honestly be a interesting and intriguing movie because directors would have more room for creativity with Peter Parker they wont frickin move forward into the actual adult Peter which i hate it so much more they can do with Peter but they leave him confined to his younger years. Everybody knows the origin story and the first couple years of being Spidey between multiple cartoons and movies .WE KNOW THE STORY. Its time to move Peter forward and have fun. The Morales story wouldnt be mainstream Spidey and they could do it as a separate franchise with a wider and younger demographic
jarel93 - 2/6/2012, 3:25 PM
@MrBlueSky Thank you for the awesome reference to Backstroke of the West. Glad to see someone else is aware of its existence.

On the topic, however, I don't think that Miles should ever be portrayed on the big screen. Peter Parker is Spider-Man, and that is that. I mean, Marvel's already slotted to bring the Ultimate Peter back this summer, anyway.

Besides, who would play Miles? Jaden Smith...?
luckylu - 2/6/2012, 3:26 PM
how about [frick] NO
JDUKE25 - 2/6/2012, 3:28 PM
@marvel72 dang it...lol :P
airbeyonder18 - 2/6/2012, 3:29 PM
I wouldn't mind as long as they setablish it in an ultimate setting along with the avengers and such.
WonderMoose - 2/6/2012, 3:31 PM
As one of the few who was hoping for Will Smith for Captain America I'm not surprised that I dont fully agree with most here.

Yes for Spider-man movies I want Peter Parker. However if they started on and Ultimate spiderman franchise I wouldn't say no to trying out Miles on the big screen. Maybe in the 2nd or 3rd film though.
WonderMoose - 2/6/2012, 3:34 PM
Oh and for Pete's sake (pun intended) introduce Miles in a previous movie so we know and care about him when he takes the helm. Cuz the whole "Peter's dead! New Spider-man here we come! Wait who the funk is this guy?" scenario did not please me.
OdinsBeard - 2/6/2012, 3:34 PM
prototyp3@ I appriciate the positivity but why can't we love the franchise like it deserves to be loved? because it doesn't deserve it right now after trying for a cheap shameless change for the sake of change. Miles' story is good? cool! they wasted it on a spider-man substitute. Peter Parker was cool because he was an interesting, original hero. if they wanted to make Miles Morales this generation's peter parker they would've taken all of the interesting things you say are part of his story and made up a cool, new hero for him to be and by default represent minority kids in comics.

Same in comics as it is in the real world - minorities always getting the shaft. same thing happened with Dr. Voodoo, instead of making him cool in his own right they just gave him some hand-me-down white person identity. at least they let Black Panther keep his suit when he became the "new man without fear"
OdinsBeard - 2/6/2012, 3:43 PM
oh and everything i just ranted about is in regards to comics..

cause they would NEVER ever put miles morales in a spider- ma - haha- hahahaha lol!! hahah omg hold on.... lol hahaha lmao!

ok i couldn't even finish that sentence without laughing. i need that yao ming laughing face lol

Don't worry guys! years of planning and hundreds of millions of dollars will never go into a miles morales spider-man movie! dude won't even be spidey in the comics after another 6 months!
l0rdleg0las - 2/6/2012, 3:45 PM
Peter Parker IS Spider-Man.

if we are going to get some offshoot movie of a Spider-Man movie with a different lead character than i say give the fans some, SPIDERWOMAN

SpiderWoman Pictures, Images and Photos

Some Jessica Drew would be interesting to see on film.
