Bit of a mini-milestone here. After seven years Marvel have finally shown Teddy (Hulkling) Altman and Billy (Wiccan) Kaplan kiss on-panel. May not seem like a too big deal as comics have already broken through many old barriers over the years, but as we know the issue of same sex relationships can still be met with a lot of disapproval in the funny books.. and is definitely still considered a strong visual taboo by many. Here are the relevant scanned pages..

Sounds like there might be another Marvel wedding on the cards! Coincidentally, we have already heard of one earlier that may also wind up being a same sex marriage in Astonishing X-Men.

That's a hot kiss mmmmmmm.
JatevinM - 3/8/2012, 10:18 AM
Politics has finally wormed its way completely into comics.
RunDTC - 3/8/2012, 10:20 AM
where's that thumbs down button?
ComicsCommando - 3/8/2012, 10:21 AM
Has nothing to do with politics. This is life.
KaneVonDoom - 3/8/2012, 10:32 AM
I see no politics here. Social issue, yes. Good on Marvel.
Toasty - 3/8/2012, 10:45 AM
I see no problem here it's something completely natural in today's society, except for some stupid religious bigots, seriously get over it.
DCwanabe - 3/8/2012, 10:46 AM
You can be born with your gayness, its scientific. But I can be born with my distaste for it as well.
Darthkostis - 3/8/2012, 10:53 AM
Come on. I have nothing against gay guys but come on. These situations actually make gay people seem ridiculous. This is every dialogue and situation:
Are you going to break up with me? Sob,sob
I'm not,you know how much I love ya,come give me a kiss.mhmmmmm
Comics are mostly readen by males. Males want to see busty heroines not two depressed guys kissing each other. It kinda off. It takes away from the pacing of the story.
xstryker - 3/8/2012, 10:56 AM
Whine whine whine. Turn the page if ya don't like it, crybaby.
ZombieOverEasy - 3/8/2012, 10:57 AM
lol. Slightly surprised (for some reason) as to how many users of this site are homophobes/insecure with their sexuality.

Dunno why this is a big deal, they did this with a character & his b/f in an issue of X-Force ages ago and I'm relatively sure North Star's had a same-sex kiss as well as Shatterstar & Rictor. Meh, slow newsday.
RorMachine - 3/8/2012, 10:58 AM
You can be born with a tail too..true story!
Ancar - 3/8/2012, 11:00 AM
As long as it has importance to the story it is ok to me. But if it was there just to make news, that's fail!
Ryden - 3/8/2012, 11:02 AM
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this and it shouldn't be a big deal at all! If you have a problem with it you're either a religious moron or someone who's seriously insecure about their sexuality. This is the 21st Century, get a grip.
headlopper - 3/8/2012, 11:04 AM
This is disgusting...

unless you're gay.

So it's disgusting.
Show4God1 - 3/8/2012, 11:06 AM
glad 5-12% of the population gets to dictate whats acceptable to the rest of the world.
Ryden - 3/8/2012, 11:07 AM
@DCwanabe- Nah...I'd say your bigotry is a product of environment.
MassExecutions - 3/8/2012, 11:08 AM
Is this supposed to be edgy? It the era of Glee? Think again. I'd be shocked it there was a comic with adolescent characters where two members of the same sex DIDN'T kiss.
GiftedYoungster - 3/8/2012, 11:08 AM
I guess I don't get out much, but comic-fans are a group of people I never expected much bigotry from . . . oh well. Nothing surprises me.
Shaman - 3/8/2012, 11:10 AM
This just means i'm one step closer to getting my lifelonged she-male superhero comics :))
MassExecutions - 3/8/2012, 11:11 AM
Technically, bigotry is defined as "intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself."

So...if you are intolerant toward those who hold the opinion that homosexuality isn't healthy,...are you still bigoted?
ThaMessenger07 - 3/8/2012, 11:12 AM
Is it Gay though? Seeing as Hulkling is mixed of 2 different Alien Races....

Like when Gusto does his standard Cat F*cking, if the cats male, is that gay, or does it remain just bestiality?
RobertDanger - 3/8/2012, 11:17 AM
Vote with your dollar, people.
If this offends you and you don't think it should be in mainstream comics because it isn't what the majority wants to see, don't buy the book.

If you like it and think it shows a progressive attitude on the part of Marvel and their writers, buy the book.

At the end of the day, Marvel is a company. They will repeat events like this if it does well financially for them.
MassExecutions - 3/8/2012, 11:20 AM
yossarian gets an LOL.
ThaMessenger07 - 3/8/2012, 11:25 AM
You can't Catch me Gusto, I'm cautious when walking past dark vans that drive under the speed limit with the window cracked and Mister Sandman playing on Loop....
JackTuesday - 3/8/2012, 11:27 AM

"Comics are mostly readen by males. Males want to see busty heroines not two depressed guys kissing each other."

Well for all the WOMEN and GAY men who regularly read comics i fully disagree with your comment. Plus I think it fit in nicely with the story. Well done Marvel.
8thDynasty - 3/8/2012, 11:29 AM
LOL @ the chumps scared of dudes kissing.

The irony of it is - we're all hanging out on a site that is DEDICATED to fictitious men who run around in tights and uni-tards.

But yeah, "Keep the gays out of comics, 'merica!"

RorMachine - 3/8/2012, 11:29 AM
I hear Gandalf The Grey is a bit iffy about gay men..but funnily enough has absolutely no problem with lesbians! Weird eh?
MassExecutions - 3/8/2012, 11:30 AM
JackTuesday - What are you disagreeing with? Because the statement "Comics are mostly read by males. Males want to see busty heroines not two depressed guys kissing each other." HAS to be true. No doubt. 100%. Unquestionable.
Ryden - 3/8/2012, 11:30 AM
supersayianfan1- God doesn't exist so it doesn't really matter what a fictional character thinks....the whole idea that people base their moral values on a book written between 2000-5000 years ago is astonishing. The Bible is barbaric and primitive. But that's not its fault, those were just the times; however you can't honestly say those standards still stand?!

@NoRegrets- Exactly!!
ThaMessenger07 - 3/8/2012, 11:31 AM
I Don't mind if your Gay and I don't mind if you want to get married.

But I will never support the rites that they seek as if they are an oppressed Race of people.

Your movements at times are similar to the Extreme Feminist movement. While you may not always receive the best treatment in no way shape or form do you deserve "better" treatment then anyone else.

Shit like having to continue paying alimony to an ex spouse that marries Homosexually is pure bullshit.

We all want equality, not special Treatment and no one should expect "more" then that.

And this is all Directed at you LtAnarchy!
MassExecutions - 3/8/2012, 11:31 AM
RorMachine - Like Allen Moore?
Shaman - 3/8/2012, 11:33 AM
Nomis- In no way are crossdressers the same as she-males. That's insulting!!! TITS or GTFO :P
BlindLemonShemp - 3/8/2012, 11:34 AM
Gusto's right!! this IS gay!!

and being gay is not scientific and your not born with it... stop whining for attention and accept the fact that your super gay and its your own choice...

and stop ruining every single medium with your queer subversive messages and fanny banditeering...

your gay, or like gays, no one cares... stop shoving it down our throats!
Ryden - 3/8/2012, 11:35 AM
@TheMessanger- WHAT?!?! How are gay people asking for better than what other people have? A man and woman of legal age can get married. Fine. Two people of the same sex of the legal age can't get married. Not fine. See the difference? What does it matter anyway!? It's not like you're being forced to marry a guy or something, get over it man.
JackTuesday - 3/8/2012, 11:35 AM
MassExecutions - your right, it is mainly straight men reading comics I just disagree that for this reason stuff like wiccan/hulking shouldn't be shown. Personally hope comics keep moving on from that thinking.
OdinsBeard - 3/8/2012, 11:39 AM
congrats boys!
ThaMessenger07 - 3/8/2012, 11:40 AM
It was a joke Dip Shits, Read the last line! lmao

I Don't care do as you please.
LtAnarchy - 3/8/2012, 11:41 AM
Gusto I thought you enjoyed my company..Then you bash me this way. I always knew you were hooking up with Nuck.
BlindLemonShemp - 3/8/2012, 11:42 AM

2 dogs sniffing each others ass is not the same...
come on dude, really? im at a loss for words
as for the marriage thing:
i dont even think marriage should be a legal institution... it should hold the same weight as a barbecue or a birthday party... no government involvement... you should be able to join up, and quit, whenever you want... just like changing apartments or cell phone numbers
RorMachine - 3/8/2012, 11:42 AM

Happy international Women's day ladies!
