There have been lots of rumors, speculation and guesses as to the run-time of Christopher Nolan's TDKR. Many fans assumed that it would be at least as long if not longer than the previous movie, but we haven't had anything concrete yet. Now, the Australian Event Cinemas website appear to have revealed the official running time in their synopsis for the movie..

So, 2 hours 40 mins. Just slightly longer than The Dark Knight which clocked in at roughly 2 hours 33 mins. If of course, this is accurate. With the new trailer confirmed to be screening before The Avengers, it's reasonable to assume the run-time info also shipped out to theaters with that. Still, if you read the synopsis below, it seems to be a be a new one - and a made up/paraphrased one at that! They may also be guessing at the run-time, so don't take this as gospel for now. If it is on the level, I'm sure most fans will be very happy with 2 hours 40 mins anyway.

Small update from What Culture regarding that trailer. It seems we will be getting some new character posters along with it. Not surprising, but nice to know. Keep an eye out for em.

We are told that Warner Bros will be kick-starting the final phases of big marketing for the movie and a series of posters will also hit with the trailer. This will likely include character banners of Batman, Catwoman and Bane, with big billboard artwork reveals also likely.

I really hope this is true. Though, this might have just been the length of the rough cut shown a couple of weeks ago, the theatrical cut could be a bit shorter
JaiHo - 4/22/2012, 6:41 AM
If that`s true, than we`re in for one hell of a movie. Go Nolan!
NeoBaggins - 4/22/2012, 6:44 AM
@TheIrishAvenger Epic Avatar.
Destroyer7 - 4/22/2012, 6:46 AM
@DoubleD - haha. ^^ well, me too pal. i did, but then nolan got overrated by no-other-than the nolanites themselves, thus making chris n to the "top". now, that i did not like and expect to see before. now i hate it. really. xD just because of nolan, so i will be watching tdkr on TORRENT dls. ^^ haha
RorMachine - 4/22/2012, 6:54 AM
I just don't know who the hell Nolan thinks he is. How dare he make consistently brilliant movies! He should have at least one flop like any other director..that's only fair after all.
CaptainObvious - 4/22/2012, 6:54 AM
Very good.
thewonderer - 4/22/2012, 6:57 AM
@DoubleD

Two Face was in the whole film...as Harvey Dent

Jeez people. This is great news
GingerBird - 4/22/2012, 6:58 AM
I have to admit, the only reason I loved the Dark Knight was that it's a bitchin movie.
Rodimus9 - 4/22/2012, 6:58 AM
Looks like there's a four pack of red bull in my future.
Hulk2008 - 4/22/2012, 6:59 AM
That would be so awesome!! 2 hrs 40 min of EPICNESS!!

We get the best movies with Avengers and Dark Knight Rises after that.

YES!!!!

gillri - 4/22/2012, 7:00 AM

Hulk2008 - 4/22/2012, 7:02 AM
Th Dark Knight is 2 hrs 32 mins so this is very believeable and hope it's true.

Tymminator - 4/22/2012, 7:05 AM
This should be a great movie to end the trilogy.
SmellofDuty - 4/22/2012, 7:08 AM
@DoubleD- He was angry because Batman saved him not Rachel.
TrueRedBlue - 4/22/2012, 7:09 AM

SmellofDuty - 4/22/2012, 7:10 AM
I've seen all of Nolan's films and haven't been dissapointed yet! Finished my endevour with The Prestige yesterday. Great movie!
AvalonKnight - 4/22/2012, 7:20 AM
Let the Nolan haters hate. One thing cant be denied about Nolan's Batman films. Worth over 2 BILLION to date!!! Thats not including the TDKR. So the point im trying to make is....SUCK IT!!!!
CaptainObvious - 4/22/2012, 7:21 AM
@ELgUaSoN- If you hate this movie so much, why do you take the time to comment on here?
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 4/22/2012, 7:22 AM
When people say that The Dark Knight was only good because of joker, since when is that a bad thing? He is the main freakin villain.
Same thing applies with Thor. It would have sucked without Loki.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 4/22/2012, 7:24 AM
@ckal
The Lord of the Rings movies are over 3 hours and they did not suffer for it.
Sweep - 4/22/2012, 7:29 AM
The son-of-a-bitch knows story structure. TDK was alright but I hope this script goes toe-to-toe with The Prestige.
AvalonKnight - 4/22/2012, 7:29 AM
Its just diversity that people hate. I too am a huge marvel fan. But so many of marvel's films are bland. Captain America(although entertaining and did the character justice) was a bland tasteless movie. TIH was much of the same. Iron Man had flare, but the weight was carried almost solely on RDJ's humor and personality. With BB and TDK, both movies are chock full of interest keeping points. I will admit, there are plotholes and the female leads have been terrible. But they are awesome movies regardless of what any haters say.
95 - 4/22/2012, 7:30 AM
I don't think they're guessing. I think WB gave them this rough estimate. I'm still betting 157 minutes.
Sweep - 4/22/2012, 7:34 AM
@Double D - Ive heard there is a scene where Bane is consuming a heroic amount of prescription drugs with an Olsen twin. There in lies the magic.
MJPETTY7 - 4/22/2012, 7:45 AM
I enjoy Christopher Nolan's work as much as I enjoy Joss Whedon's (which, by the way, is a LOT), but I have to say, The Dark Knight Rises will beat The Avengers. An epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend beats the team up of the "Earth's Mightiest Heroes". Just saying. Love both teams, directors, writers, but Batman will always be victorious!
NeoBaggins - 4/22/2012, 7:47 AM
I don't believe in curses and get the feeling that TDKR will be better than TDK. Nolan seems like the type of guy that moves forward, progressively improving with each installment. I understand why some like BB better, but I like the escalation of stakes and scope.

Either way. We'll be treated to yet another CBM in the form of a quality film.
MJPETTY7 - 4/22/2012, 7:50 AM
Also, third movie curse only applies to some movies. Return of The Jedi, Toy Story 3, T3: Rise of the Machines (in my opinion), Indiana Jones 3, Transformers 3, Pirates 3: At World's End, and LOTR: Return of The King were all GREAT movies!!! This will be up there with those, not down there with Spider-Man 3, Superman 3, Batman Forever, and X-Men: Last Stand (which was only bad because Singer jumped ship for Superman Returns, which was even worse!).
MJPETTY7 - 4/22/2012, 7:52 AM
And I'm not saying the Avengers won't be good, it'll be one of the best movies ever, but TDKR will still be better because of what @NeoBaggins said, Nolan progresses forward, not backwards, and we all know that he's not into sequels, so of course he'll make it worth everyone's while.
Supes17 - 4/22/2012, 7:53 AM
Marvel Studios should get Batman as soon as this is over.
I have a feeling DC is gonna [frick] him up after Nolan leaves
Devastator335 - 4/22/2012, 7:58 AM
I hope it's 3 hours; picture this: 3 hours of TDKR, featuring Batman, isn't that epic?!
Squaremaster316 - 4/22/2012, 8:03 AM
I'm sure we'll get the usual bitching about how the film isn't "only 2 hours", even though making this or the Dark Knight that length would do nothing but hinder their quality as two hours isn't enough to tell such an epic story.

I guarantee if all 3 LOTR films were that short there would be no end to the complaining from the populace about how rushed they were.
SmellofDuty - 4/22/2012, 8:08 AM
Ole' Itsbarry has showed up to tell us how much he loves penis!
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 4/22/2012, 8:11 AM
You know I have yet to meet a Nolanite, who think everything Chris Nolan does is amazing. I have met people who enjoy his films, actually most people I meet fall into this category. Yet I have yet to find these elusive people that think this man has made the best movies of all time.

Also the only real haters I seem to find fall into the immature, I take my comic book movies way too seriously category. I actually think the haters are really funny, because they become SO pissy about something so trivial. It's almost endearing in a way.
Mrcool210 - 4/22/2012, 8:11 AM
NO NO BAD IDEA, Dark Knights Running Time was Pushing it. This is just too long
Gnyah123 - 4/22/2012, 8:11 AM
i called it! when that rumor about it beinf 4 hours came out
i said 2 hours n 40 mins - 3 hours! which is perfect!!
BRING ON THE TRAILER!!!!!
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 4/22/2012, 8:19 AM
@Knossis

X-Men 1 and 2 were FAR from gritty lol. Even Blade was a bit more fantastical. It was dark sure, but gritty? Hardly. You can't compare The Avengers to Batman, and once people actually see the movie they will realize the Avengers work better on a team as opposed to individually.

The Avengers won't pave the way for a Justice League movie. In fact I am totally cool not seeing one. Like I said the Avengers just work better on a team, and individually save for Iron Man, they really aren't that compelling as characters. However, put them together and suddenly there is a real dynamic to them which sadly they lack on their own.
sweetalchemies - 4/22/2012, 8:19 AM

Not gonna lie, deep down inside I was hoping for an epic 3 and a half hour movie haha. But that as just wishful thinking.
I hope this is accurate!
NextHero08 - 4/22/2012, 8:26 AM
@Knossis-Remembered as birth of the true CBM? Sorry but I go with the original Superman and 1989 Batman, both did justice to the characters, very comic book heavy and still watchable today. Plus, in terms of the film universe, aren't most the characters still like "fresh" I mean they been superheroing for what two years maybe and supposed to believe tey form the Avengers? How did Thor get back to Earth with the bridge broken? It a dream come thru witout a doubt but the previous films chopped, screwed and forced those heroes down our throat (Ironman may be excluded but terrible villains). Marvel didn't get a decent CBM until X-Men and Spiderman but DC has been there already with Batman and Superman years ago. I'm not picking sides, these are facts because not one person could argue and win that Christopher Reeves did not portray the perfect Superman (muscles excluded) and Micheal Keaton didn't bring the dark, brooding, mysterious, ass kicking DARK KNIGHT that has been the figure to be copied ever since.
ScabbyJ - 4/22/2012, 8:26 AM
@Sweep.
Yeah I hope it's on the Memento or Prestige quality script as well. Hell, even Insomnia.
marvel72 - 4/22/2012, 8:26 AM
i hope not,what with trailers on the front thats a good three hours plus sitting in cinema seats,not the most comfortable seat when your 6ft 3inchs i need plenty of leg room.
