Also, Disney have just announced via press release that the world premiere of Brave will be held on June 18th at the grand opening of the new Dolby Theatre in LA.

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

Why is this on the site exactly? Other than the fact that we were forced to sit through the trailer before Avengers?
skidz - 5/18/2012, 11:13 AM
I think this is another hit for Disney.
skidz - 5/18/2012, 11:15 AM
@SpiderFan35 it's Disney movie, that's why it was attached to The Avengers. As for your first question, that's a good point.
SonOfStarKiller - 5/18/2012, 11:16 AM
Clearly Pixar is back on track. You can Hand them the Oscar now.
antonio - 5/18/2012, 11:17 AM
Nice. Can't wait!!
Nemeres - 5/18/2012, 11:22 AM
"As for your first question, that's a good point."

It's really not. It's obvious this site isn't exclusively about comic book movies, and you can't really expect it to change its name at this point just because of that. Brave is a fantasy movie, just like the Hobbit, and it's an animated movie, which many people who like comics also enjoy. Plus, it's Pixar, which speaks for itself. A good point would be, if you're not interested, why the hell would you click on it?
calin88 - 5/18/2012, 11:26 AM
Really? You compare this to The Hobbit?
SpiderFan35 - 5/18/2012, 11:29 AM
@skidz: I get that, I just meant that it was the only remotely CBM-related connection I could imagine.

@Nemeres: Yes I know the site is not exclusively CBM material, but big event movies like Prometheus or the Hobbit in the sci-fi or fantasy genre are different than a Pixar cartoon that is made for children and not comic related.

And I clicked on it so I could make the snide remark about why it is on the site. So there.

95 - 5/18/2012, 11:33 AM
I'm a little bit more interested.
DetBullock - 5/18/2012, 11:37 AM
@SpiderFan35: because Pixar made also The Incredibles, a Watchmen-inspired superhero animated film.
And try to watch some Pixar stuff, if you exclude Cars and Cars 2 they range from "good" to "Masterwork".
misterwizz - 5/18/2012, 11:45 AM

Looks awesome.
JumpinJehosaphat - 5/18/2012, 11:53 AM
Fellows, I'm guessing most of you don't have girlfriends. But, if you do, she'll want to see this. If you're enthusiastic about it, then she'll suck your dick. It's really that easy. Here's your mantra: Like Brave, get BJ. You don't have to like the movie, but doing it for her will yield some rewards. Just... try not to be too big an asshole about it, as much as that concept flies in the face of this collection of sensitive, pedantic, hyperbolic basement dwellers.
MartianSupermanhunter22 - 5/18/2012, 11:53 AM
@uncannyxman- your comment goes with your icon perfectly.
Nemeres - 5/18/2012, 11:55 AM
@PatientZero Boom Studios publishes Pixar-based comics. If Brave's succesful enough, it could spawn some issues of its own. Plus, you're telling me that if LOTR hadn't been made into a comic eons ago, this site would just refuse to report about it?
SpiderFan35 - 5/18/2012, 11:56 AM
@Patientzero: Thank you.

@Detbullock: That was my point, this is both a kid's cartoon AND not comic related. I like hearing about new animated super-hero movies and shows etc. but this is not comic-related at all.

So it leaves to believe that Disney is sponsoring the site so they can peddle their wares here. Which is fine if that keeps the site going, I am just wondering. It's okay to question the world around you, you don't have to drink the kool-aid.

And Incredibles was Watchmen inspired? I'm just going to let that go 'cause I don't know where to start.
MartianSupermanhunter22 - 5/18/2012, 11:57 AM
@jumpin- i lost those privileges long ago. :(
SpiderFan35 - 5/18/2012, 12:01 PM
@Nemeres: As I said earlier, the argument can be made that movies like the Hobbit are for grown-ups and kids, whereas Pixar cartoons are def for kids and can be tolerated by adults who have to watch them with said kids.

I don't expect everything on the site to have some six dgerees of separation to comics, but I don't want it to turn into a promotion machine for Disney or anyone else.
SpiderFan35 - 5/18/2012, 12:04 PM
@JumpinJehosaphat: Congratulations, you can use a thesaurus.

My wife, like myself, is an adult so she will not have any desire to see this movie. We may end up taking our nieces and nephews to it, but I do not need it junking up the site before it comes out in order to be able to do that.

SpiderFan35 - 5/18/2012, 12:21 PM
@Patientzero: yeah there was that aspect I guess but still, that's a stretch.

Anyway, as I said I am less concerned that everything on the site can be tied to a comic in some way, and more concerned that mega corporations are going to start sneaking other stuff onto the site that does not fit with what we come to the site for.

We already have superherostuff posting "articles", we can't have fun with boobs anymore possibly because of pressure from sponsors and now this. I don't think anyone wants the site to turn into disney.com, I know they will take over the world eventually but I don't have to go quietly :)
ralfinader - 5/18/2012, 12:32 PM
Gee...paranoid much?
ralfinader - 5/18/2012, 12:32 PM
PS- Buy Disney stuffs!
brewtownpsych - 5/18/2012, 12:33 PM
Yay, something else archery related
SpiderFan35 - 5/18/2012, 12:38 PM
@ralfinader: I forgot to mention that Disney is obviously run by aliens, which I'm sure you knew already :P

SpiderFan35 - 5/18/2012, 12:40 PM
@Patientzero: Oh I know it, I just try not to get too depressed about the state of the modern world by distracting myself with fun stuff like this site, where I would rather not be reminded of the very thing that I am trying to distract myself from ;)
RorMachine - 5/18/2012, 12:57 PM
Spierfan, aside from the reasons already mentioned, you are assuming that

a) No adults watch and enjoy Pixar movies - more probably do than don't in my experience.

b) Even if this was "exclusively" for kids, plenty of kids visit the site too.
DoomXfactor - 5/18/2012, 1:17 PM
REALLY????GET THIS SHIT OUT OF HERE!!!
Slaggathor - 5/18/2012, 1:40 PM
The kid imitating the dad really made me laugh.

Looking forward to this movie.
ralfinader - 5/18/2012, 1:44 PM
Le teabag was my favorite charactor, followed very closely by Pervdog...but Pervdog seems to follow everyone closely.
SpiderFan35 - 5/18/2012, 1:51 PM
@Ror: I always felt that adult jokes and references were put in these movies to make them tolerable for parents who have to watch them with their kids, I don't know how many adults watch them on their own.

Anyway, I know kids come here as well and parents also come here with their kids etc. Not trying to slag off your article, maybe it has just been a long week without any boobs ;)

@Gusto: Hilarious as usual, good stuff.

Have a great weekend folks, see you later!
RorMachine - 5/18/2012, 3:08 PM
Spideyfan, nah I know you were just wondering..but that'a basically how it breaks down. Also, we are staring to build up a bit of a relationship with Disney now too, so if posting the odd clip of one of their animated movies means access to Marvel stuff..well, cool!
Thegoddamnbatman52 - 5/18/2012, 3:13 PM
This movie looks really good plus its
Pixar! Why the hate?
tribefan695 - 5/18/2012, 3:32 PM
Why is this on here? Because Pixar is awesome. That's the only reason you need.
eoin3 - 5/18/2012, 7:28 PM
