Ryan Reynolds Wanted For HIGHLANDER Remake

Apparently the Green Lantern/X-Men Origins: Wolverine actor is the studio's favorite to star in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo's remake of the classic sci-fi fantasy flick..

Variety report that the "one" Lionsgate/Summit want to wield the sword in their Highlander remake is none other than the man many CBMers love to hate, Ryan Reynolds. The site say that Reynolds is the front-runner, with both parties interested in working together, but it is unclear if an official offer has been made. Word is Reynolds is weighing other offers and that there is "still a chance he could choose to pursue another project".

The original '80s movie focused on a race of immortals (although you can kill them by removing their head) battling through the ages. It all comes down to two - Connor McLoud (Christopher Lambert) and "The Kurgan" (Clancy Brown) - but of course, "there can be only one". Plot details on the remake/reboot are still unknown, but I guess it's expected to at least tell a similar story.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is on board to direct with Neal Moritz and Peter Davis producing. So what do you guys make of this? Personally I have no interest in a remake anyway, but Reynolds - despite not impressing as Hal Jordan - is, or rather can be, a very good actor. If he does except he might do very well in the role.
