UPDATE: Chaos Reigns In Gotham In TDKR Themed Mountain Dew Advert

Have a look at this new ad for Mountain Dew, which features an explosive street battle in reverse. I doubt it's from the actual movie, but either way it's still pretty cool..

Alexandre - 6/17/2012, 2:33 PM
dude theres a lot of fools saying so much shit about this film and how the avengers is better but seeing that fight reminds me a lot of the last battle in the avengers.
Boyle360 - 6/17/2012, 2:36 PM
That was awesome.
95 - 6/17/2012, 2:47 PM
@Alexandre

The VFX shot than flies over each Avenger fighting? That shot? That shot was epic and I thought of it too when I saw this advert.

Hmm sacrifice my fertility for Batman stuff? Sounds like a plan.
Alexandre - 6/17/2012, 3:21 PM
the new tv spot wb just released. the scene that shows "the bat" flying away from some missiles really reminds me of the part in the avengers when iron man is flying away from those aliens and dodging their firing lasers or what ever they were shooting at him.

also now this commercial, this fighting scene of batman with the cops really reminds me as well as the scene in the avengers when it shows all of them fighting in a continuing shot with no cuts
sonofsamadams - 6/17/2012, 3:40 PM
Beautiful.
Durf - 6/17/2012, 3:45 PM
Pretty cool stuff there
thewonderer - 6/17/2012, 3:47 PM
Wow now that looks like total chaos. While I loved the Avengers, I never felt like anything was at risk. The final war fight was incredible, but nothing ever seemed at loss. There were explosions and stuff but the jokes, don't get me wrong they were hilarious, really made more of a comedy than a drama.

But this, oh man, this being Nolans last film means he has total reign to destroy all he wants with no consequence for future sequels.

This movie will be incredible and thats due a lot to the fact that there is no continuation to this one.
StarSpangledBruce - 6/17/2012, 3:59 PM
'Tis Good.
RockNRollFrankenstein - 6/17/2012, 4:05 PM
This is actually a pretty old video, maybe two or there years old, and is both unrelated to Mountain Dew and TDKR. As far as I can tell, either Mountain Dew paid for the use of that video for a new commercial, or someone made it so that it looked like a commercial.
REDSTORM - 6/17/2012, 4:08 PM
Batman is in the fight... How is it unrelated?
Azrael725 - 6/17/2012, 4:09 PM
anybody wanna get that to go backwards, or forwards, or . . . ok now im confused lol
RockNRollFrankenstein - 6/17/2012, 4:16 PM
"Batman is in the fight... How is it unrelated?"

Sorry, turns out I'm wrong. I was thinking of another video entirely, that I think may have influenced the commercial:

thewonderer - 6/17/2012, 4:17 PM
@Derezzed

Not at all, considering we never saw anyone die except for Coulson. Nothing felt at risk, there literally was no drama in the Avengers film. Even Coulsons death was played up for laughs.
Durf - 6/17/2012, 4:22 PM
@thewonderer: Yeah, the Coulson thing was for laughs initially when he shot Loki, but after that it was taken seriously.

And no one died in the final battle? Uh, I am sure plenty died, but they didn't show it. What did you want? People exploding and blood flying everywhere? I guarantee people were killed

C'mon dude.
BaDOAN - 6/17/2012, 4:29 PM
LOW RES?

its a freaken Phone cam! USE PROPER TITLEs!
REDSTORM - 6/17/2012, 4:30 PM
@rocknrollfrankie Yea I see what you mean. That's a pretty neat video! I wonder what it was actually used for?
thewonderer - 6/17/2012, 4:30 PM
@Durf

Look, why do people here take it so hard when someone brings up the flaws in a film?

Avengers was a GREAT film BUT its strong suits were NOT in drama or story or character development.

Like a 5 second scene of Sam Jackson closing his eyes? I thought the card thing was a great way to show his legacy...but then its revealed Fury faked it. WTF. And then everyone forgets about Coulson by the end.

Why not end it with a funeral for Coulson? Instead they're all happily eating Shwarma. Hell Coulson isn't even mentioned again
REDSTORM - 6/17/2012, 4:34 PM
And I'm actually going to agree with thewonderer. While Avengers was great, there wasn't any point where they seemed like they wouldn't win. I guess the nuke part came close but they always seemed to have everything under control.
Durf - 6/17/2012, 4:46 PM
@thewonderer: I am not taking it hard, I just don't agree with what you said. I don't have a problem with people pointing out flaws in the film, if they are actually pointing out flaws.

It was clear that it affected them. Yeah Fury faked the card thing, but he was still clearly upset about it. Rogers was clearly affected and was very solemn afterwards, as was the Black Widow. And Stark, the guy who is usually all about himself, was probably hit the hardest by Coulson's death. He demonstrated this some when he walked out when Fury was talking, but more so when he was talking to Rogers in the next scene. He was clearly angry and saddened by Coulson's death. Thor would have been very upset as well, but he was not there when it happened, so he did not know about Coulson's death

I agree that I would have liked to see a funeral or some sort of ceremony, but I don't think it would have been necessary. And having it at the end wouldn't fit with the tone of the rest of that ending. Coulson was, as Fury put it, the "push" that they needed. They didn't forget him, they just didn't mope around the rest of the movie because of his death.

Another movie that treats a death similarly, in my opinion, is The Dark Knight. After Rachel's death there is only one scene where Bruce even talks or thinks about it, and he knew her longer than anyone in The Avengers knew Coulson. Dent only really mentions her death like once or twice in the rest of the film, but it obviously affects him. They didn't have a funeral for her either. Did you want a funeral for her too? And they didn't just mope the rest of the movie either. Should they have? No.

To me, The Dark Knight and The Avengers handled the death of a major character very similarly.

I am not taking your opinion personally or hating on TDKR, just pointing out why I don't agree and pointing out why I think it's flawed
Durf - 6/17/2012, 4:52 PM
@firg: Ok, I guess I can sympathize with that. Drama wasn't necessarily The Avengers strong point. Just a different style from TDK I guess

@REDSTORM: Did you really think Batman would fail to stop Ra's Al Ghul or The Joker? I don't like that particular sentiment much. Do we honestly believe that in any of these movies the hero will actually fail? We know they will win, but we just enjoy the movie for what it is. Just how I view that though
AsianVersionOfET - 6/17/2012, 5:04 PM
YouTube videos won't work on my iPhone, Comicbookmovie , get your shit together!
Durf - 6/17/2012, 5:12 PM
@Firg: for sure, I agree that comparing them is kind of silly. But like you said, we do because they are CBMs. Different styles isn't a bad thing. Those styles work for those movies very well. The Avengers wouldn't work as a dark, extremely serious movie, but that works for Batman. Batman doesn't work as a more comedic, light-hearted affair(otherwise you get Batman and Robin *shudder*), but The Avengers does.

The different styles are part of what makes these movies great. Both movies are great in their own right. I think some, not you or me mind you, lose sight of that.

On a related note, I am [frick]ing pumped for TASM and TDKR! Epic year continues...
LoudNoises - 6/17/2012, 5:12 PM
@AsianVersionOfET

I was hoping it wasn't just me having all these problems when I'm on my phone, lol. All these ads, and the youtubes won't work anymore for me either. Hope it's a problem that gets resolved soon.
Comix - 6/17/2012, 5:19 PM
@thewonderer

nobody gives a shit about coulson really man, hes just an agent. I get where you are comin from though. If it was cap or ironman or any of the other big characters...you would have felt the depth.
thisheart - 6/17/2012, 5:22 PM
Durf, Batman might have caught the joker, but he didn't prevent his "ace in the hole", aka Harvey's descent into madness that led to the deaths of Gordon's cops and Dent's own. He also lost Rachel. Rachel was a huge moral compass for Batman.

So, Batman definitely lost in the the Dark Knight. In the Avengers, and most other comic book movies, the heroes win. Therein lies the difference. That doesn't mean I didn't love the Avengers, but there is a big difference between the two, and rightly so. Batman's a crime/noir character. The Avengers are action movie characters.
Comix - 6/17/2012, 5:22 PM
@durf
comparin avengers and tdkr is like comparing a lamborghini to a rolls royce.

Both are nice cars id LOVE to drive, but they are used for almost different reasons.
Durf - 6/17/2012, 5:22 PM
@Firg: For sure. Similar formula to Expendables, but a little better execusted for sure. lol

Yeah I really hate the everything has to be dark and gritty fad all of a sudden too. If something works as a dark movie, then great. If not, then don't make it [frick]ing dark! If it works as fun and light-hearted, then fine. If not...well see the comment on dark movies.

Totally agree that different styles are great and help to connect the audience. I love that styles like those of Whedon and Nolan can coexist and work just as well as the other. If everything was the same in style and tone, it wouldn't be any fun.

lol, silly fans indeed... :)
Ichaos - 6/17/2012, 5:24 PM
!@#$@#$^#$$%@#$@#$ing Fighting commercial !!!!!!!!!!!!
Alexandre - 6/17/2012, 5:25 PM
the avengers was a really good movie. thats it. lets not label it any other way. and tdk was just the same. two of the best cbm ever made and in my opinion, two that will go down in history as the ones to beat.

iron man was really good as well but every other marvel film between iron man and the avengers does not even touch the quality that the avengers and tdk had. its now just a matter of taste. who do you like more? batman or the avengers? you cant say that one film is better than the other because in a cinematic stand point, they both were made extremely well. but you could say that you prefer one over the other because you're more of a fan of that or those heroes.

lets end this war please.

i call a peace treaty. who wants to join me?
thisheart - 6/17/2012, 5:25 PM
And Firg, don't even compare The Avengers to The Expendables. The Avengers was an amazing display of 8 great characters collaborating in an exciting, engaging story.

The Expendables was the biggest waste of star power in all my years of movie watching. I can't believe their adding Chuck Norris and Arnie in the sequel. I hope its not the cluster[frick] the first one was, but it probably will be.
Ichaos - 6/17/2012, 5:26 PM
Its not the highly caffinated refreshing beverage Gotham Needs, its the hihgly caffinated refreshing beverage Gotham deserves
Durf - 6/17/2012, 5:29 PM
@thisheart: true, that is well said. I was actually talking about his capture of The Joker, but I did stupidly forget the other part about Dent when talking about that. I guess now that I think about it, Batman really did lose. Bad example there, but I stand by the Ra's Al Ghul one. lol, but seriously The Dark Knight did break the mold in that way, and it should be applauded for it for sure. I thought that was really cool.

Glad that you, like myself, can enjoy and appreciate both movies regardless of their difference

@Comix: Well, yeah I agree on that. They are very different in style. I think some are misunderstanding what I was trying to do there. I merely meant to compare how the two movies were similar in how they handled a major death, that's all.

Really dig the analogy too. lol

AztecaAguilar04 - 6/17/2012, 5:30 PM
@ Azrael725 Here's The Reversed Version Of The Commercial. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXJbuHKulc4
R888 - 6/17/2012, 5:33 PM
Awesome

REDSTORM - 6/17/2012, 5:35 PM
Well for the record Durf, I never said I didn't like the Avengers. I saw it multiple times.
Durf - 6/17/2012, 5:36 PM
@Alexandre: well said. I liked all the Marvel Studios movies(yes even IM2, although it is the weakest), but agree that they are not on the level of The Avengers or TDK. With the exception of maybe Batman Begins, no other CBM is on that level

And I will gladly sign your peace treaty! I love both Marvel movies and the Batman movies, and hopefully when they are released, the other DC movies! The war needs to stop! Can't we all just enjoy epic CBMs?
Durf - 6/17/2012, 5:43 PM
@REDSTORM: I didn't say you didn't. I am sure you enjoyed it and I am glad you did. I just was simply stating how I disagree with what you said about the stakes, though admittedly I misspoke about The Joker.

Once again, I apologize if you thought I was trying to attack you. I wasn't, just simply providing my thoughts about the subject of your comment. I love The Avengers, TDK, and all other great CBMs, and I am glad that you can appreciate great CBMs as well. My hope is that we can all do that, even though I know it probably won't happen.

Anyways, I am excited for TASM and TDKR and the anticipation is killing me! lol
thisheart - 6/17/2012, 5:49 PM
Yeah definitely both movies achieve what they they should. TASM and MOS also both look pretty neat. I doubt either one of them will be a "green lantern", if ya know what I mean...
thisheart - 6/17/2012, 5:50 PM
I am scared to death of what DC is going to do with this rushed Justice League movie, though. Gangster Squad looks cool though, and having the Zombieland director and an awesome cast helps.
REDSTORM - 6/17/2012, 5:51 PM
Now this is what I like to see! We should celebrate as many CBMs as possible!

And Durf, it's likely my fault for wording it so boldly. It's really hard to explain how I felt watching the movie. There are quite a few movies that had me on the edge of my seat, and Avengers wasn't one of them. But now that I think about it, it's likely due to all the spoilers.
Alexandre - 6/17/2012, 5:51 PM
real talk though, out of all this talk of what a hell of a movie year we were going to have and there are still loads of films yet to come, only two films that have come out so far have delivered that promise for me.

the avengers and cabin in the woods. and cabin in the woods wasn't even a promised "blockbuster" summer movie and yet that shit kicked major ass. definitely a classic in my opinion. men in black was sort of a let down, again, and Prometheus was not as good as i would've hoped for. i enjoyed it but i wanted more and i didnt get it.

heres to hoping tasm and tdkr delivers that promise as well

Alexandre - 6/17/2012, 5:59 PM
this thread is starting off really good. nothing but love and smiles. all we need now are boobies. and i will deliver. join me in a feast of tits and ass wont you?

Pretty LATINAS ass FLAVOR
