FAN MADE: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES' John Blake As Nightwing

Check out this cool mock-up of GCPD officer John Blake (Joseph Gordon Levitt) as Gotham City's junior protector, Nightwing. If you still haven't seen TDKR (seriously, you still haven't seen TDKR?), Spoilers ahead..

So at the end of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises we find out that John Blake is this movie universe's version of Robin -- kinda. I think giving Blake the real first name "Robin" is more of a nod to the fans, as it's pretty clear the character will now become Batman's successor, and not his sidekick. So perhaps Nightwing would be a more appropriate name for him? We may never find out of course, but this pic gives us a pretty good idea of how a Nolanized version of Blake in a Nightwing style costume might look..

Maybe for the reboot they use JGL and not have Bruce Wayne? I actually think that could be cool. Then at some point they could always bring Bruce back and have JGL turn into Robin or Nightwing. Like lets say by Justice League 2, they need all the help they can get. So they find Bruce and get him to come back. I think that could be a good way to still include Nolans films and acknoledge that they happened. That also opens the door for the Joker. Bane would be lost tho. Idk...just a thought.

Isn't it funny how in the movie Batman told Blake thanks for the help and told him to wear a mask and

Blake said "I don't want to wear a mask"

I'd have preferred it if he actually turned out to be Azrael. Maybe not all mystical and all, but like so many of the other characters, in name only at least.

I've said it before in other posts, I think it would've been awesome if he'd told that woman that his last name was actually 'Valley' instead of his first name being 'Robin.'

Since his first name in the film is John, it makes since that it could actually be Jean-Paul.

But that's just me.

Only issue I have with this is with this mask, Gordon would know exactly who he is. Still surprised he didnt know who Batman was. SMH

The suit has always sucked in Batman films. This suit sucks for a Nightwing suit. As Arkham Asylum/City has shown us, the "classic" Batman suit could translate well. Hopefully next year when this is rebooted, they will take some cues from the Arkham games on how to get it right.

As much as Nolans films are good films, they are not Comic book movie films.

As for the idea of them continuing with Blake as Batman. No. Batman is Bruce Wayne. The tragedy that Wayne suffered is what makes Batman. You can't just have some cop take it over.

That was a sh-t move.

I agree that Nolan took a lot of unnecessary liberties with the Batman franchise...would it have killed him to have revealed that John Blake was an adopted name or something...real name John Richard (Dick) Grayson? I think that would have made more sense...on another note...I really like the pic of JGL as Nightwing although I think there should be more of a mask to help hide his identity, but other than that..great! I also hope that they don't do a reboot, just continue the story and attempt to merge the characters into the rest of the DC universe and work towards the Justice League
