The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Anyone else see a re-hash of the 2003 DareDevil Poster?!?

YAWN...Movie Posters blow nowadays anyways...they usually crop a still or somethin. Teaser Posters are a tad better, but actual theatrical posters that go up when the movie's out BLOW
JonathaNisMagnuM - 8/2/2012, 10:24 AM

UnknownHeroX

Thats true but it's a typical comic book pose also used in Batman the Animated Series opening
jessepostal - 8/2/2012, 10:31 AM
There have been posters before with the same style and look, darkman is one off the top of my head. Happens with every movie
Anthrax - 8/2/2012, 10:33 AM
I loled at the bear gif
driver - 8/2/2012, 10:34 AM
Da BOSS!!! Don't care if it looks like Daredevil poster 'cause it's simply better!
jimoakley666 - 8/2/2012, 10:36 AM
Actually reminds me more of The Dark Knight posters. But it's bloody lovely all the same.
AlexDeLarge87 - 8/2/2012, 10:38 AM
It does it job.

Cant wait the movie.
Stumblin - 8/2/2012, 10:51 AM
Difference between Dredd's poster and Daredevil, Dredd actually looks like he's standing on the roof as opposed to Daredevil's where he's superimposed on the roof, the angle isn't even right.
Sanderman - 8/2/2012, 10:53 AM
Can they start showing trailers for this or somethin? I'm still the only one out of everyone I know that even knows this movie exist
Danbojohnj - 8/2/2012, 10:56 AM

Anthrax - 8/2/2012, 10:58 AM
hos is anthrax song i amthe law not in the movie the whole songs is about megacity and judge dredd better than the dubstep crap their usiing hell even the guitarist has a judge dredd guitar
Anthrax - 8/2/2012, 10:59 AM
INSTANTJUSTICE - 8/2/2012, 11:07 AM

Cos it'd be a bit odd having an 80's metal song about the main character jump out at ya in the middle of a futuristic film.
Anthrax - 8/2/2012, 11:11 AM
still better than half the shit we have these days.damn i sound old lol
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/2/2012, 11:18 AM
Daredevil anyone?
INSTANTJUSTICE - 8/2/2012, 11:42 AM
earzmundo: "who gives a [frick] about where he stands?"

It's not where he stands, it's what he stands for:

inky - 8/2/2012, 12:15 PM
is that a fiery bat on the top of the left building if not it should be lol
dollstix - 8/2/2012, 1:25 PM
and dreddhead123 will be hating this in 3....2......
dreddhead123 - 8/2/2012, 2:11 PM
I don't hate it because someone took time to make it but it sums up this film...

Totally unimaginative.

Even the poster is a copy of Daredevil! Thanks to UnknownHeroX for highlighting that.

So very lame to copy another poster.

But hey, if people wanna see a completely unoriginal Judge Dredd film - with a crappy title too: DREDD 3D... go ahead.
INSTANTJUSTICE - 8/2/2012, 2:13 PM
See first page of America above^.
dreddhead123 - 8/2/2012, 2:19 PM
Shouldn't the tagline be

JUDGMENT IS HERE

That would make more sense seeing as

JUDGMENT IS COMING

will make no sense after the film is released.

Just a suggestion. :)
sameoldthing - 8/2/2012, 2:26 PM
it would be nice if those who made movie posters were more creative & original.
The poster doesn't look bad but it's very generic.

The title is fine as just DREDD but leave off the 3D.
It's in 3D,great but put that in the fine print.
dreddhead123 - 8/2/2012, 2:37 PM
New tagline with UK spelling of 'judgment':

I think that works better. 'Judgment coming' sounds a bit too vague for the final movie poster. 'Judgment is here' is more like stating a fact. Don't mess with Dredd cos judgment is here. That sort of vibe. :)
INSTANTJUSTICE - 8/2/2012, 2:37 PM
See first page of America ^above^.
jimoakley666 - 8/2/2012, 3:29 PM
Judgment? Jud? Gment? Isn't there a letter missing there?
INSTANTJUSTICE - 8/2/2012, 4:11 PM
Nope. That is the correct spelling in a legal context as in a "Judgment" given by a court Judge. The spelling "Judgement" is for use in all other contexts outside legal.
KeithM - 8/2/2012, 4:25 PM
I'm with the 'leave off the 3D part' crowd. It does NOT improve the poster.

As far as the poster itself. Not bad. Not a fan of modern film posters in general - very generic as mentioned - but it's actually pretty good. No shots of all the actors heads in the background at least. Just Dredd - the one thing standing between chaos and justice, looking down (judgementally?) at the streets (scum) below, while the city crumbles and burns around him...

Yeah, gets better the more I think about it.
KeithM - 8/2/2012, 4:31 PM
And yes, the Daredevil poster was probably going for the same thing, but that's modern movie posters for you - I'd love a Bolland movie poster as much as the next guy, but what can you do? It's a good poster. Looks better than the DD one anyway. :p
dreddhead123 - 8/2/2012, 5:38 PM
Alternate tagline and 3D text removed:

:)
Ceejay - 8/2/2012, 5:59 PM
Poster looks better than the film!
INSTANTJUSTICE - 8/3/2012, 1:34 AM
So you've seen the film Ceejay?
breakUbatman - 8/3/2012, 2:12 AM
Unknownherox

How is my comment invalid? I acknowledge the similarities, while stating that this pose has been used in many other places as well. The poster still deals with a character regardless of it being live action or not, the similarity is the pose and set up.
dreddhead123 - 8/3/2012, 3:31 AM
It's a pity it's such a blatant copy of the Daredevil poster because it's a lovely image and would look great as a 2000AD front cover.

If people on internet forums can see the striking similarity to Daredevil's poster, then Lionsgate and DNA will have seen it! This is not coincidence and this is not a homage to the panel in the Judge Dredd story: America.

I've been waffling on for nearly two years this film is a Die Hard clone set in a MC-1 block so it's no surprise the poster is a clone of some other film's poster. Sorry, not wishing to be unkind or troll for the sake of it, but this film reeks of unoriginality. The only original element is the main character.... JUDGE DREDD. The rest is Die Hard/The Raid/Escape From New York and Robocop 2. Expecting an original looking poster would be too much to ask. :(
ComicBookGoth - 8/3/2012, 6:20 AM
i dig it
INSTANTJUSTICE - 8/3/2012, 8:33 AM
dreddhead123: "This is not coincidence and this is not a homage to the panel in the Judge Dredd story: America"

Well you see that's where you are completely, utterly, factually wrong.

JOCK -the Dredd artist involved in the PR for this film - CONFIRMED on the 2000AD forum himself that the AMERICA story is the EXACT inspiration for the poster. They even tried a version with the US flag under his feet.

"Sorry, not wishing to be unkind or troll for the sake of it"

/me spits coffee all over my monitor

ORLY? That's exactly what you've been doing since your first post on the film and EVERY SINGLE POST since. Seriously, who are you trying to kid? You're a KNOWN troll. You've been banned from most of the internet for being a persistent troll on petty much every site the film is mentioned.

Nobody, but NOBODY takes you seriously. Stop with the act or at least stop telling bare-faced lies about the stone-cold fact that you've hated the film since it was announced (and that they weren't going to use your script), before a single image was seen, before an early draft of the script was leaked, before the film even started production.

Saying a line like that doesn't fool anyone that you're even occasionally reasonable (or even reasonably sane). You've tipped your hand too many times.

You've called Wagner a liar, Jock a bullshitter (see IJ's post) and anyone who's looking forward to this film 'not a real Dredd fan'.

You ARE the definition of a troll.

I can't even be bothered ending on something amusing I find you so distasteful.

I concur with your eloquent comments.
I have always lived my life by being able to have intelligent discussions with people who have a diametric opposing view to me as I believe that is healthy. I have even had to admit I was wrong on many occasions as the facts and insights offered to me were well put and thought through and made me question my viewpoint.
However, hating for hating's sake is a: Unintelligent b: Desperate and c: Sad
I think I am a 'real' Dredd fan as I have got 2000ad from issue one but as I am looking forward to this take on the new film , apparently I can't be by someone else's measure because I dont HATE everything about it!!!
If only I knew that beforehand, I could have saved some money!!!
