With Game Of Thrones winning critical and commercial acclaim, and the beloved fantasy world of J.R.R Tolkien returning to the big screen this year with The Hobbit, it's no surprise that Legendary Entertainment are still eager to get an adaptation of the similarly themed World Of Warcraft video game up and running. Original director Sam Raimi left the project recently, but now Variety report that a new writer has been hired in the form of Charles Leavitt, who has previously penned the fantasy flick The Seventh Son for the studio, and will signal the search for a new director. With so much on Legendary's plate at the moment, it is unlikely we would see the movie before 2014, but still this must make fans of the massively popular MMORPG very happy.

You mean I'll have to leave my mom's basement for WOW? That doesn't make sense....

I am proud to say that I have never played this silly game.

JDUKE25 - 8/2/2012, 4:54 PM

Legendary Pictures movie slate is quite impressive if you include Pacific Rim, Man of Steel, Godzilla, Jack the Giant Killer, The Hangover Part III, 300: Battle of Artemisia, and Mass Effect. World of Warcraft is going to be EPIC!

I really liked playing World Of Warcraft. Then I realized how I wasn't geek enough to be dedicate time to "Leveling Up". Only really liked the exploration factor. As for this film adaptation— glad to have Sam Raimi out. I have no hope for this project.

Love WoW. Used to raid and all that, these days I'm a casual player (very casual). Never cared for the lore though.

I'd really like to see a WoW movie and after Raimi's recent work I think the best that could happen to the movie is him leaving the project. If we were talking Raimi circa Army Of Darkness then I'd say this is a great loss but as it is, well...

To sum it up: Yes, I hope a WoW movie gets made. No, don't care about Raimi leaving.

Could either be epic as hell or suck ass. I am going with suck ass.

Starcraft would be way better as a movie. It's also a better game.

I think they missed their window on this. I was once very excited by the prospect of a WOW movie, but I think this can only fail.
Spock - 8/2/2012, 8:28 PM
Give me a Diablo movie! The cinematics are crazy better than most CGI movies!

Best director for this would be Guillermo del toro, his design with hellboy was amazing and that's what it should look like. If they go to the route that LOTR did, WOW well fail because it well only be compared or a copy of it, it needs it's own identy. With that being said Guillermo del toro. If they put another director it well fail. Guarantee.

I like world of warcraft, it's a great game and the art design is great. Even if it's out dated you can see and appreciate the art of the game. The only thing that replaced world of Warcraft is diablo 3 and that's the same maker. That says a lot.

For the people making fun of WoW, I don't get you. Your in comicbookmovie.com why do you diss the people who played wow when you never even experience the world that blizzard made. The world that they made in the game is amazing and very very well done. If there was a marvel or Dc world like this, you would be playing it.(DCUO didn't come close to WoW)

Hmmm they should done Warcraft first and World of Warcraft as a sequal. It just wouldnt be right without showing peasants for 20 minutes chopping wood and mining gold

@Spock, yeah Diablo is by far more interesting for sure. Those cinematics are ridiculously good.

ok i play world of warcraft but have stopped in recent months to get a life it is a goodish game but as with any game dealing with many others you get no end of crap.
the game has lasted well and the only way a movie could work would be in the form of a trilogy and not harping on about the past as much as the game does, the game is in decline now and has expansion comming out soon involving pokemon type minigame and a race of pandas ( frickin pandas of all things) this should help it with its flaging membership for a while but to be content and lack there of tinged with pvp play have for me spoilt what was a good game.
any movie needs to be loosly based on main char story with back story line to give depth, the action could be great and the settings astounding so they need to get it started before the game falls and ends up free to play.
inky - 8/3/2012, 4:44 AM
damned my silliness forgot a word or two then, after flagging membership i was meant to say but the content sorry not but to be seems im going mad in old age :)
thunderforce - 8/3/2012, 4:53 AM

grampageezer - 8/3/2012, 6:16 AM
