According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Kenneth Williams is in negotiations to join the already very impressive cast of Jose Padilha's remake of '80s sci-fi classic Robocop. The site report that "Williams will play the partner to Kinnaman’s police officer Alex Murphy who is tight with Murphy’s family.". This would suggest that his character will replace Officer Anne Lewis, Murphy/Robocop's partner and only friend, played so memorably by Nancy Allen in the original. Williams' most famous role was that of gay stick-up-man Omar Little in the HBO series, The Wire. He also plays Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire.

Why the [frick] is Hollywood Reporter using the word "tight"? Is it because it's dealing with a black character?
G3n3r4lzZoD9 - 8/6/2012, 8:26 PM
This guy is one ugly mofo
Himura - 8/6/2012, 8:27 PM
@Dynamo

There's more than one definition for "tight"
DaneE5R - 8/6/2012, 8:29 PM

@ninjaturtle11 Great point! They should have casting for men of any color for this role.
Im white and Im not a politically correct wannabe and seriously I'm getting sick of the all white crap.

Once again, great point by:ninjaturtle11

I hope this movie is good. I really have high hopes for it.

Ror Just a heads up you made a typo on "Thsi" it should be This or course.

ninjaturtle11 I agree, there should be more diversity in race in films. Most movies seem to have white characters always be the main character, if lucky you'll have the "friend" character be some other race. It's honestly not fair.

Don't want this reboot. The first RoboCop was of it's time and is a classic.

The others, not so much. This reboot is less needed or wanted than RoboCop 3.
Sanderman - 8/6/2012, 9:18 PM
Well..atleast it would be a new character and not the same as the original.
OtakuPapi - 8/6/2012, 9:18 PM

At least Nancy Allen will have a very unique and classic role that now won't be compared and be given a crap remake of.

So this means Robo can now have man talk in the police car as they cruise around detroit?
FireKnightRises - 8/7/2012, 1:00 AM
whoa the new robocop even have his own rhodey
spidey1994 - 8/7/2012, 1:23 AM
Hold on? Why no Lewis?!
AlexDeLarge87 - 8/7/2012, 1:59 AM
Hey at least they are trying to make it different than the original films.
Unlike most remakes these days. Most of them just copies everything from the original films even the makers claim otherwise.
Im only hoping they have a great script in their hands which is gonna break boundaries if not this is not going to be anything else than just a one time nonstop action film with nothing important to say. Like that new Total Recall. I mean what the hell was that about?
AlexDeLarge87 - 8/7/2012, 2:02 AM
Robocop is the only character i dont want to see changed too drastically.
ckal - 8/7/2012, 4:18 AM
Some of you are seem to randomly want "more diversity in films". You are not focusing on what is important. Once you make it about diversity, it is just about diversity. It becomes exactly what you want to avoid, Like casting a black actor for a supporting character just for more diversity.

Diversity in roles shouldn't be focused on movies like this, a remake of a movie with a white actor in the lead role, it should be focused on new properties that a black or Asian or any non white actor can get into without the unfair comparisons and gripes from people about the previous white actor to play the role.

Farkosaurus-

I agree, he is a fantastic actor. I have not seen the wire, but his role in the road as well as boardwalk empire are great.
BenderDickCumPatch - 8/7/2012, 5:26 AM
He is a great actor. Deal with it.

@ninjaturtle11
