Well, Watchmen might have its share of critics but Zack Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore's masterpiece still managed to claim the top spot with 688 (24.27%) votes. Second place goes to Kick-Ass with 434 (15.31%) votes, and third was V For Vendetta - 252 (8.89%) - with Sin City hot on its heels with 248 (8.75%). Another Moore adaptation, From Hell, came in last with only 5 votes.

Was this fair? was anything over-praised or under-looked in your opinion? Have a look at the results in full and sound off in the usual place.

My favorites on the list are (in order of greatest to least):
1.Watchmen
2.V For Vendetta
3.Constantine
4.Punisher: War Zone (only slightly better than the 2004 film)
5.Punisher (2004)
TayDee - 9/22/2012, 8:50 AM
I tried four times but I still cant finish Watchmen
sKeemAn - 9/22/2012, 8:54 AM
Sin City for me.

@Taydee I've had that same problem.
Seejay - 9/22/2012, 8:55 AM
Watchmen, one of the best comicbook movies regardless of category imo.
GUNSMITH - 9/22/2012, 8:57 AM
BLADE FOR ME, HE STARTED IT
RorMachine - 9/22/2012, 8:59 AM
Glad to see at least a few votes for Ghost World..an obscure CBM classic.
AlSimmons - 9/22/2012, 9:01 AM
The Crow. I just loved the artistic direction. Detroit looks like Gotham should have: Dark, rainy, full of urban mazes. I loved it.
SmellofDuty - 9/22/2012, 9:03 AM
1Watchmen
2Kickass
3Crow
4V for Vendetta
5The Punisher
ChiefJudge - 9/22/2012, 9:07 AM
Now it's Dredd
wbrowning79 - 9/22/2012, 9:10 AM
Hast to be kick ass for me. But watchmen does come in very very close.
AtomicChipmunk - 9/22/2012, 9:15 AM
@LEVI

Just copy-paste that •

•Aquaman
•Spider-Man
RorMachine - 9/22/2012, 9:20 AM
@Levi, sorry missed your question..I actually don't know! I usually just copy n paste as Atomic has above.
Danbojohnj - 9/22/2012, 9:29 AM
Dredd
Kick Ass
Blade
Watchmen
Wanted

In that order.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 9/22/2012, 9:36 AM
Well deserved.
ronnie42 - 9/22/2012, 9:40 AM
Lol time for a recount, add 'Dredd' in there since one of best movies of the year.
jessepostal - 9/22/2012, 9:40 AM
My vote was for tales from the crypt demon knight
Ha1frican - 9/22/2012, 9:41 AM
V for Vendetta was good but the GN was 100x better, Kick Ass was just stupid in every way except Hit Girl, The Croow doesnt hold up sadly and the rest are meh. My choice is Watchmen closely followed by 300
1RoninAmongBitches - 9/22/2012, 9:46 AM
The Crow is numver 1 followed by:
BLADE
Ghost World
Watchmen
Road to Perdition
A History of Violence
American Splendor
Sin City
30 Days of Night
300
V for Vendetta

*In THAT Order!
thewonderer - 9/22/2012, 9:51 AM
The Watchmen movie in itself is very ironic.

Its probably the most accurate CBM of all time, yet its reception is so strange.

I personally love the hell out of it, probs in my top favorite films of all time
fayzon10 - 9/22/2012, 10:01 AM
Blade 2
Maximus101 - 9/22/2012, 10:02 AM
Watchmen for sure but it was close between 300 and watchmen and the first two blade movies. Seen dredd last night and it's crazy amazing. GO SEE IT
White - 9/22/2012, 10:02 AM
We need more R-Rated cbm! Next: Luke Cage and Iron Fist!
Ha1frican - 9/22/2012, 10:13 AM
@thewonderer ikr people constantly complain about cbm accuracy, and say how amazing Watchmen is. Then the film version is almost panel for panel identical and people give it shit. i don't get it
Ha1frican - 9/22/2012, 10:15 AM
@IronFan93 idk if it needs to be R rated but i would love to see LC in the MCU. Common (if he beefed up) would be my choice for the role
Ranger14 - 9/22/2012, 10:24 AM
"constantly complain about cbm accuracy, and say how amazing Watchmen is. Then the film version is almost panel for panel identical and people give it shit. i don't get it"

The people giving it shit aren't necessarily the same ones complaining about comic book accuracy. ;-)
Nubase - 9/22/2012, 10:37 AM
watchmen had to win
jessepostal - 9/22/2012, 10:44 AM
Im not complaining because it didn't bother me at all but watchmen had a completely diff ending. I hear a lot of harps about that
LinkHall - 9/22/2012, 10:54 AM
I gotta say Blade the first two films helped pave the way for a resurgence of cbm's especially Blade 2 the fact that they were rated R were awesome.
SoulxAvenger - 9/22/2012, 10:57 AM
Watchmen was a great film. For the people saying it was too long or they couldn't get into it: You probably know very little of the Watchmen and that's why you didn't like it. I suggest reading the books first then watching the movie and maybe that will help you understand it a bit more. Yeah the ending is different but the story in the film did the books justice. Very good CBM. Probably in my top 6 or 7.
thejon93rd - 9/22/2012, 11:16 AM
1. Blade
2. Daredevil: R-rated version
3. Watchmen
4. Sin City
5. A History of Violence
Maximus101 - 9/22/2012, 11:17 AM
Not sure why people complain about the ending of watchmen, if any of you are familiar with the comics then you know it had to ut had to be changed from the comics.
thejon93rd - 9/22/2012, 11:25 AM
I like the ending to the movie better than the comics, but I loved the comics more than the movie. Still, the movie's a beast. For the scope of it all and the amount of characters at the centre, I appreciate the fact that Snyder was able to make it work with some great performances and amazing visual effects. Great film.
l0rdleg0las - 9/22/2012, 11:28 AM
My issue with Watchmen was casting. Perfect on Comedian and Rorschach, and then just massive floating turds on the rest. Ackerman tried to portray sexy and failed and was wooden. Goode couldn't keep his accent from coming and going. Wilson was just mediocre, to the point I cant understand why so many want him to play Ant-Man. Also Carla Gugino was perfect casting
teabag - 9/22/2012, 12:00 PM
Dredd wins for me but i love me some watchmen too

something about watching a chubby mans ass bump and grind makes me happy

and comic book accuracy isnt always a good thing

:P
Number1Wolverine - 9/22/2012, 12:11 PM
Damn, that's a tough list to pick from. Hmm, after some thinking I would say my top five would be The Crow, Kick Ass, Blade, Sin City, and Wanted.
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/22/2012, 12:17 PM
I voted The Crow.

But gotta say that in that list there is many good ones. So it was hard to choose. But The Crow has that nostalgia feel which was the reason i chose it.

RamonSuarez - 9/22/2012, 12:23 PM
You can tell this is a board of kids when an overrated dumbed down movie like Watchmen dwarfs films like History of Violence, Ghost World, American Splendor and especially Road to Perdition.
drykillogic22 - 9/22/2012, 12:26 PM
Blade and The Crow..The rest either are shit or barely real CBM's...And as for Watchmen, I yawn everytime I hear the title.
Maximus101 - 9/22/2012, 12:34 PM
@ramonsuarez don't start, all the threads were peaceful without you lately.
CoLest - 9/22/2012, 12:49 PM
I dont disagree with anything, Id just like to point out that I think that the Road to Perdition is extremly underated
JonathaNisMagnuM - 9/22/2012, 12:57 PM
Leave it to Ramon to just LOATHE the fact that a Zach Snyder Film came out on top LMAO
RamonSuarez - 9/22/2012, 1:01 PM
Start what? The truth?

Anyone who thinks Watchmen is better movie than Road to Perdition, History of Violence, Ghost World or American Splendor is probably an adolescent.

I mean even Punisher Warzone got more votes than A History of Violence. Seriously?
RamonSuarez - 9/22/2012, 1:09 PM
And if anyone thinks I am just hating to start shit consider this fact:

Johnathan Hansleigh's Punisher reboot got more votes on this board than Road To Perdition, Ghost World and A History of Violence COMBINED.

Case.

Closed.

Christuffer - 9/22/2012, 1:14 PM
Watchmen: Extended Cut IS a masterpiece. 'Nuff said
RamonSuarez - 9/22/2012, 1:29 PM
Road To Perdition 70
A History of Violence 60
American Splendor 13
Ghost World 11

Total 154

vs.

The Punisher 152

WTF people?
Action - 9/22/2012, 1:42 PM
Sin City FTW
teabag - 9/22/2012, 1:50 PM
I find History of violence , American Splendor and Road to Perdition as fun as waking up to find my dick has been cut off and my hairy balls resting on my chin

but then obviously im just a kid and dont have hair on my balls

so alls good :P
Ha1frican - 9/22/2012, 2:03 PM
@Ramon we watched A history of violence in film class and while it starts off really strong the 3rd act is really random and detatched from the rest. As for the rest they arent popular films it isnt necessarily a reflecion of the maturity of the viewers but odds are few people here hae seen them the arent exactly essential viewing
Ceejay - 9/22/2012, 2:12 PM
1: Watchmen
2: Road to Perdition
3: OldBoy
4: 300
5: A History of Violence

Don't know why everyone forgot Oldboy on their lists but few films on the list of choices are even half as good as it!

Looks like Dredd is gonna open even worse than Stallone's version. It did just over $2 million on Friday so they're predicting an $8 million weekend.
teabag - 9/22/2012, 2:19 PM
Ceejay@ 2 million on friday you say...oh well atleast thats more then Oldboy made its intire run in the US...maybe thats why people forget it ;P

Dredd = AWESOME :D
