BSG'S Tahmoh Penikett Confirmed For MAN OF STEEL; But Who Is He Playing?

A good while ago a rumor did the rounds that the Battlestar Galactica actor would make an appearance in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, but now it would seem to have been confirmed - and there's a SLIM chance he could be playing Metallo!..

We didn't actually cover Tahmoh Penikett's rumored involvement with Man Of Steel at the time because there wasn't quite enough solid evidence for it, but now Penikett himself - who has recently joined Twitter, and has been very active and open with fans since - seems to have confirmed it via the social networking site. The actor remains tight lipped on who he is playing, but our friends over at the MOS Facebook page have noticed that IMDB now lists him as a character called 'Henry Ackerdson' - which is very similar to Henry Ackerson, the alias used by Metallo in the DC animated flick, Justice League Doom. Of course, coming from IMDB we have no idea if it's on the level or not - and even if the name is accurate, it might very well have nothing to do with Metallo - but given the secrecy surrounding Penikett's role, it could be a possibility. What do you think? Could we see Metallo pop up to make Superman's life even more difficult in Man Of Steel?

can't wait for the next trailer, I hope there would be more super scenes than the first one.
LP4 - 11/22/2012, 5:54 PM
Yeah most definitely Metallo. What with the huge military presence in the film and all.
LP4 - 11/22/2012, 5:56 PM
I'm surprised casting is STILL going on with this film. Hmmm...

RorMachine - 11/22/2012, 5:59 PM
Well it's not..I mean they've wrapped! It's just that Penikett hasn't been confirmed until now.
LP4 - 11/22/2012, 6:00 PM
@Ror- Ah I see...do you think it's possible more confirmations could be on the way?

IronDean2099 - 11/22/2012, 6:03 PM
After credits?
BruceWayneNewton - 11/22/2012, 6:04 PM
Awesome! I want to see Metallo under the control of Lex in the 2nd film.
AshleyWilliams - 11/22/2012, 6:06 PM
LP4, I'm pretty sure he was cast a long time ago but we are just now getting confirmation.
nailbiter111 - 11/22/2012, 6:06 PM
LP4 - yes more are on the way because someone has to be voicing... whoops, sorry can't say. lol But you Superman fans will like it.
LP4 - 11/22/2012, 6:07 PM
@NightAvenger- Yeah I get that, Ror just explained it to me.
maxxgone - 11/22/2012, 6:07 PM
it would be pretty epic if braniac was our sequel villain. maybe doomsday in the 3rd film?

as for metallo, i can absolutely see him being some sort of creation by the military since they seem to be very present in this film.

i'd love it if this was DC/WB 'ironman' - by that i mean the starting point for JL & other individual films...but i know thats a lost cause. hopefully snyder & nolan will just give us a good kent trilogy while DC/WB go on and [frick] up JL & the other members. sad.

@nailbiter- You know more than you are letting on don't you? lol you sneaky devil ;P
LP4 - 11/22/2012, 6:08 PM
IDK...i just pray this movie will have all the characters that are ESSENTIAL to SUPERMAN. ALL of them...ahrmph.

;)
CaptainObvious - 11/22/2012, 6:12 PM
@IronDean2099- Probably not. After the Green Lantern debacle, WB wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot like that again. Man of Steel will be a wait-and-see movie. No talk of sequels until its performance at the box office is clear.
TheIntersect1 - 11/22/2012, 6:13 PM
Isn't this guy going to be on Arrow next week?
Mulanzo - 11/22/2012, 6:14 PM
Wasn't this known for quite a while?

That was listed on IMDB for a long time....
LP4 - 11/22/2012, 6:14 PM
@TheIntersect- Not sure but he's in the Mortal Kombat Legacy series as Stryker. Great actor.
DioFoRio - 11/22/2012, 6:16 PM
@Nail...gotta be Braniac right?
IronDean2099 - 11/22/2012, 6:20 PM
@CaptainObvious- Fair point, but if there's a way to incorporate him as a set up without detracting from the story then what's to lose? That Sinestro scene was so rushed though. I love the character and Mark Strong owned it, but I wanted to see him slowly turn away from the Corps and turn to totalitarianism. The yellow suit was boss though.

MOS is going to kick ass at the box office like my Patriots are kicking the Jets' ass!
DrRockso - 11/22/2012, 6:40 PM
C'mon nail tell us!!!
Funsize - 11/22/2012, 6:42 PM
Hope so cuz I was hoping for some lesser known villains besides Zod or Lex Luthor.
TheIntersect1 - 11/22/2012, 6:51 PM
Yeah so I looked it up. This guy is on Arrow on Wednesday
Superheromovies2000 - 11/22/2012, 6:56 PM
Damn so the dude from Law & Order Chris Meloni isn't Metallo? Damn!!!
Minato - 11/22/2012, 7:16 PM
If he does well I bet you people would learn how to pronounce his name. lol
xXkryptoniteXx - 11/22/2012, 7:26 PM
IMDB is never accurate and that is why I stop looking at at there site until the movie comes out. This actor may play Metallo or a set up and you never no, maybe Lex Luthor himself. I for one likes Lex Luthor and if his presence is know in the movie that would be amazing.
THABATMAN - 11/22/2012, 7:27 PM
NOOOOO
I dont have a problem with Metallo, but I would rather see Kryptonite in the second movie
StarSpangledBruce - 11/22/2012, 7:44 PM
Anyone remember Metallo being a boss in the (shitty) Superman Returns game?

longbowhunter - 11/22/2012, 7:44 PM
Best news I've heard all day.
CaptainObvious - 11/22/2012, 7:50 PM
@IronDean2099- That alone is the reason why I'm glad there won't be a Green Lantern sequel. The movie horribly rushed and undermined Sinestro's character arc. So when the time came for him to put on the yellow ring, it felt random and out of nowhere. Also, the biggest loss of the film is the subtraction of Hal's and Sinestro's alliance. As Sinestro turns to the dark side, he is put at odds with Hal. Now we have two friends with opposing ideologies. That makes the downfall of Sinestro more personal and more tragic.

But no, instead we got this nonsense. Where Sinestro turns into the bad guy for no good reason. Since the friendship between Hal and Sinestro was virtually nonexistent in the film, then there would be no reason for the audience to care about what would have happened in the sequel. I don't mean to turn a Superman-related article into something like Green Lantern (I personally hate it when people diverge from the point of the article), but what you said sparked the perfect opportunity to get this thing off my chest.

Metallo. ...obviusly, or maybe Lex Luthor???

unless Christopher Meloni is the real Luthor???

Metallo. ...obviamente, o tal vez Lex Luthor

a menos que Christopher Meloni sea el verdadero Luthor???
Shadowelfz - 11/22/2012, 8:24 PM
Fricken awesome! Meloni would make a great Luthor!
AstroZombie - 11/22/2012, 8:27 PM
I really hope this ends up being an epic trilogy just like The Dark Knight Trilogy. It would be so great to have a Man of Steel Trilogy someday too.
DarkArts - 11/22/2012, 8:40 PM
He played a cool character in Smallville:Vince Davis/Wes Keenan, in 3 great episodes.
MrNikauL - 11/22/2012, 8:41 PM
it would be better if it were Lex
DarkArts - 11/22/2012, 8:43 PM
Micheal Rosenbaum was a great Lex but Kevin Spacey's was just one Lex too many. I hope Lex is retired for good.

I'm going with the popular thought on this one - Metallo
M3T4LL0 - 11/22/2012, 8:56 PM
I'm going to be in Man Of Steel? Haha I WISH but this is a great scoop. Would love have him be in the movie and be unsuspecting until the end by having him reveal himself as Metallo to set up a sequel. My most anticipated CBM for 2013.
