RUMOR: Is Robin a Girl in TDKR?

Starting because of a cryptic casting comment by Variety, and prophesied by AICN, the new rumor states that actress Juno Temple may be playing the female robin.

HERE is what Variety said that created the hoo haw:

--it's known that Juno Temple is being eyed for a supporting role as a street-smart Gotham girl.


And HERE is what AICN's hercules added to that:

The same story in Variety suggests 21-year-old British actress Juno Temple (“Year One,” “Greenberg”) is being sought to play a “street-smart Gotham girl.” When we last saw Barbara “Batgirl” Gordon she was still pretty tiny, so my suspicion is they might be casting something akin to a female Robin.


Temple, who can now be seen in Jordan Scott's "Cracks" and Gregg Araki's "Kaboom," has two Sundance pics in the can -- Elgin James' "Little Birds" and last year's festival hit "Dirty Girl." She recently wrapped starring roles in the indies "Killer Joe" alongside Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch, as well as "Jack and Diane." In addition, thesp plays Queen Anne in Paul W.S. Anderson's adaptation of "The Three Musketeers" and is gearing up to co-star in indie thriller "A Single Shot."

Is it true then? Dunno. We report, you decide.

Dick Grayson or not at all. The end, for Nolan's movies I'd have to say no Robin, but I want to see a real Batman & Robin movie some time.

This sounds as silly as the old "Hathaway will play only Selina" rumor. A streetsmart girl could well be Holly from Year One -although she may not be a hooker.

That casting description could apply to almost any character. Besides, Nolan said a year ago that Robin was not part of this story.

My vote is for harley quinn but if she is a female robin im gonna be pissed, i'm sure i read on here a few months ago that Nolan said he wouldn't have robin (of any gender) in his 3 films, and so far he has stuck to that, awww hell with it in nolan i trust not let us down so far.

She's probably Catwoman's version of Alfred. You know, the support system at home i.e. Mavis from TAS or something akin to that. I'm probably wrong, but that was my first thought.

If Nolan can't be convinced to include Dick Grayson in this movie, I highly doubt he would think throwing in a female Robin would be a good move.

These people who are rumoring a Robin incarnation, obviously, don't know much about the Batman mythology or Nolan's style. There will not be a female Robin. Holly Robinson is more likely.

“street-smart Gotham girl”= Whore. In BatMan: Year One, CatWoman looks after a little girl that's being pimped out. They're probably just making her older because 13 may be a little too real even for a Nolan BatMan film. Who knows.

The film is so anticipated that there will speculation about every damn role, right down to the garbage man who everyone will think is the Penguin.

SuperConnerKent@ in what universe does a female Robin make more sense then holly robinson? Believe it or not, there is a thing called a "supporting cast". Holly is a part of Selinas past (& future).

For F***ks sake, why do people assume every casting choice is gonna involve a pair of tights? There are"normal people" in this & in every other version of Gotham.

Can't we all just get along? I read this site every day and I rarely ever say anything. But today, I felt compelled. For one, just because you post an article here and 90% of the people disagree with you, it's not a reason to be a dick SuperConnerKent. And two,did you think Falcone was a big character before Batman Begins? He was pretty obscure going by the previous Batman films' rogues gallery. That's because that doesn't mean anything in the current Batman movies. They're more based in reality, meaning REAL PEOPLE. Having someone other than a hero or villain in them MAKES SENSE so just because a female Robin would give you a boner, it doesn't always make sense in the grand scheme of these movies. Calm down, and stop being a dick.

I don't know yet if I would hate or love a girl Robin. Personally, I would love to see a Nolan-class Robin IN a movie, but i'm not opposed to him/her not being the film either. I'm thinking it should be hinted at....not executed for now

I doubt this is true. Nolan has made it clear that he does not want Robin in his movies. Plus Batman is likely to already have another to team up with and that is Catwoman.

Why are people getting mad at this, it's just some speculation on the part of ONE guy on some other site, which the article clearly outlines. No one's life needs to be threatened here.

It's a fair rumor story, but I don't believe it belongs on the top news slideshow.

Personally, it seems to be a rather stupid rumor. Bringing any kind of Robin into the universe seems to be farsical. I believe that if the plot rumors verified by Batman-On-Film are true, Batman has enough help in the form of Catwoman.

Of course, I imagine time will tell as the cast is finalized.

I don't think anyone is taking issue with the article written as much as the responses to their reactions to it. If SuperConnerKent hadn't basically attacked everyone's opinions on it, there wouldn't be an issue.
