Taye Diggs Has Hopes To Play 'Luke Cage' In The MARVEL Universe
Last night, Idina Menzel's (Frozen) spouse Taye Diggs made his way to the Conan O'Brien show, where he was asked about what superhero he wishes to play in a live-action film or TV show. He answered 'Luke Cage' and you can see the full conversation after the jump!
During last night’s Conan O'Brien Show, O' Brien brought on Taye Diggs (The Best Man and spouse of Idina Menzel), and the actor revealed which role he hopes to play in the future.
To start off, Conan asked Diggs if he would like to play a superhero. To no surprise, Diggs replied, "I would love to. That’s one of the things that I haven't gotten to do yet. Just to be able to do that, you know, when they're flying, and then they land, you know what I'm saying."
O' Brien then asked if there was any particular superhero he wanted to play. Taye answered "Luke Cage. You ever heard of that? I've always liked that. Just you know, growing up a poor black boy, you gravitate to the black superheroes. And that's why I really loved Django Unchained. Growing up, you never got to see the black dude shoot up the white people and ride away. You never got to see that. He’s always the buddy or the dude giving his life away."
He continued to speak about Django Unchained, saying "I want to thank Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino for making that movie, because little boys that were like me have something to aspire to. I mean not that I'm telling them to kill a bunch of white people. [Laughing] Don’t kill a bunch of white people."
As we all know, 'Luke Cage' is being developed as a TV show in part of Marvel/Netflix, so someone will get the opportunity to play the hero very soon. Could or should it be Diggs? Let us know below!
