Glad to see they're still honoring Peter after all this time. Miss him, but I love Miles. Best Spider Man to me right now, and only Ultimate title worth it at the time.
Pasto - 3/7/2014, 12:18 PM
Did Peter die?
thebearjew - 3/7/2014, 12:20 PM
actually LOLed at that one
"did peter die?"

ya like 3 years ago
GizmoEl - 3/7/2014, 12:24 PM
I hope they introduce Miles to 616. He's become a really great character. I hope Kamala does the same with Ms Marvel.
InfiniteMonkey - 3/7/2014, 12:25 PM
Miles Kicks Ass!
Peter was the greatest but, its been loads of years man.
A rebirth of sorts and a different person like Miles is quite a breath of fresh air for a Spiderman.
Definitely following this. Good art and the writing has promise.
GizmoEl - 3/7/2014, 12:25 PM
@1984 he went out like a hero.
Indy - 3/7/2014, 12:27 PM
I stop reading this book when peter died still don't care unless they bring him back.
RobertDanger - 3/7/2014, 12:27 PM
Wait, why relaunch it at all then? It's been known as Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Comics: Spider Man, and now 'relaunching' as Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man. If it's Bendis still doing the writing I seriously don't see any reason for this.
KrazyForKomix - 3/7/2014, 12:31 PM
Take two:

Another relaunch? How shocking.
Someone better warn Marvel – Superior Spider-Man is about to hit it's 30th issue. Sales are SURE to plummet as reader complaints about overly complicated continuity are sure to rise!
Jhuntdaprodigy - 3/7/2014, 12:33 PM
I still hope they bring Peter back someday. I'm a big fan of Miles Morales and I do want him to stick around, but it'd be nice if Peter came back and they maybe teamed up or something. Won't hold my breath for that though.
manofsteel1942 - 3/7/2014, 12:42 PM
Bunch of doo doo. Quit calling him Spider-Man and give him his own superhero name. Time to stop riding the coattails.
storyteller - 3/7/2014, 12:46 PM
They aren't going to bring back Peter in the Ultimate Universe. This is where people can stay dead. Also he's already teamed up with the 616 Peter. Miles doesn't need to be in Peters shadow.

As to introducing Miles to the 616 verse? Um since Miles has traveled to the 616 verse, do you honestly think they are going to make Miles 616 version just like his Ultimate counterpart.
dethpillow - 3/7/2014, 12:49 PM
@1984 - Norman Osborn, basically. he died killing Osborn. bunch of stuff led up to it tho. got shot that day, and then Sinister Six, but it came down to him against Osborn down the street from Aunt May's house. it was a good story.

@RobertDanger - Marvel's doing that a lot now, it's just a different model for putting stuff out. a lot of titles are moving to a new volume after a certain story arc is finished with. it's not just Ultimate.

bugs me too, cuz they're constantly messing up my pull lists, cuz the people at my comic book store are stoned all the time, and they're total apehead dipshits or prissy ass [frick]s and i can't trust them to do anything and i hate ever having to talk to them too. so i just wish they'd keep the goddam book the same name so it'd make my life easier.
Arrow96 - 3/7/2014, 12:50 PM
Damn, for a moment I thought the show is being cancelled. Crap.
dethpillow - 3/7/2014, 12:55 PM
Peter's got a clone too... she's gonna be the new Black Widow.

Cloak and Dagger have been featured a lot recently too.
Miles is cool, i think. i like having him as an Ultimate Spider-Man. i think they'll start to add more stuff to his character soon. he's getting older, and there's lots of ways they could go with him, yet.

i'm excited about this book, for sure.
dethpillow - 3/7/2014, 12:57 PM
@Arrow96 - someday...
jesse4u27 - 3/7/2014, 12:57 PM
@1984 just go to youtube and type death of spiderman motion comic. hope that helps
McGee - 3/7/2014, 1:06 PM
I'm just glad to see a jumping on point.

It's like having the comfort of knowing there's a tramp stamp above the crack, ready for you when you have to pull out and pop.
KrazyForKomix - 3/7/2014, 1:12 PM
@ dethpillow
Your points (made in the Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel article) were brilliant.

". . . and also it kinda takes the idea of certain truly long running arcs out of play. like the kind of stuff that ends up happening sort of by accident, over time, and the result of team changes that pick up where someone else left but then find old stuff to make relevant again."

I've been dancing around THAT exact point for a couple of weeks now. But it wasn't until you articulated it that I realized that THAT is, and has been, my number one complaint with the marketing that's taken the place story telling. Sure there have been some great arcs. But the random collision of writers riffing off of other's storyline threads, has been obliterated.
John Byrne was a fantastic plotter. His overly verbose dialog could have used some tweaking, but the point is that his story telling was a perfect mix between mining nuggets from the past and moving the Marvel 616 universe forward. Mind you, I'm NOT saying that Byrne was Marvel's finest writer, or that this particular writer or that one sucks. I AM saying that isolating story arcs like they've been doing is bad for comics.
The main result is that it disenfranchises longtime readers. There are those that would say that's just to bad - roll with the times Grandpa. Fair enough. But I suspect that the industry can't survive selling $3, $4, soon to be $5 comics to pre-high school age kids who don't have the disposable cash to support the habit.
As for my part, the Marvel Masterworks are FINALLY starting to reprint the bronze age comics. As I started reading/collecting during the back half of the '70s, there's a boatload of stories I never read. That's where my money's going.

dethpillow - 3/7/2014, 1:42 PM
@KrazyForKomix - right on, man. i really think too that's one of the biggest kind of intangible losses thru a system like they're setting up.

that, creatively, and then also just killing loyalty with their readers.
i mean some things are meant to be year long runs, FF last year... perfect year long title. or like Hawkeye, let that run until it runs out steam. this new Moon Knight too, probably be like a year to two years, fine.

but why they do this with Fantastic Four? Hulk? Spider-Man? X-Men?
that's the crazy part. Journey Into Mystery... issue #655.. yeah, let's just trash that, cuz it was the best it's been for years, possibly years and years, but what the hell, 655 issues, lets cancel that... after all. why not?

let's do Loki: Agent of [frick]ing Asgard... u know? are they crazy?
what are they doing?
dethpillow - 3/7/2014, 1:48 PM
maybe Journey Into Mystery didn't sell a lot, but you stick it out.
that's what keeps people buying. or at least me, it works with me, cuz it feels like it's a continuation of something, where like Loki: Agents of Asgard just feels like another little disposable piece of crap.
why buy that? i don't buy these as an investment, i buy them cuz they mean something to me, and these little runs make u just think, yeah, i'll just download that, and buy some old comics or reprints like you're talking about.

i don't know. they'll never scare me off Spider-Man, but they're really lucky that i love Spider-Man as much as I do.
Wetboy40 - 3/7/2014, 1:52 PM
In the last pic you can see Miles in the Black and red suit near cloak, Dagger and the Hulk, But who is that in the Red and Gold suit??

Is Peter coming Back??
woodrow765 - 3/7/2014, 1:54 PM
thank you Wetboy40. I was just about to ask if anyone noticed that. I also want to know who that spider-man is in front. miles is to the right and Jessica is to the left.
Wetboy40 - 3/7/2014, 1:54 PM
Is that Mary Jane with a new boyfriend in the second picture??
Franshu - 3/7/2014, 2:06 PM
Too bad. USM must be about the only good title left in the Ultimate universe
TheDpool - 3/7/2014, 2:17 PM
Who is that supposed to be in the last pic in the jazzy spidey outfit?
mrHJK - 3/7/2014, 2:23 PM
This is the 4th relaunch of Ultimate Spider-Man. Bendis has been with the series the entire time though. They just keep doing events like Ultimatum, Death of Spider-Man and now Cataclysm to force a renumbering on the series. It'd actually be great if this were the only Ultimate title so that Bendis would be free to write without constant interruptions from events (like United/Divided).
Wetboy40 - 3/7/2014, 2:23 PM
I found a site that had this to say about Ultimate Spider-Man 200:

Marvel is proud to present your first look at ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #200 – the monumental anniversary issue! Legendary writer Brian Michael Bendis teams with Ultimate Spider-Man artists past and present for a celebration of all things Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and more! This epic, double-sized issue features art by Dave Marquez, Mark Bagley, Mark Brooks, Sara Pichelli, and David Lafuente!

On the anniversary of his death, the whole world mourns the loss of Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man. At the home of May Parker, a more intimate gathering of Peter’s closest friends grieve for the loss of their dear friend. But even as they remember their fallen friend, a sinister plan has been set in motion. And the shocking truths about Peter and his world are about to be revealed.

Plus, don’t miss the shocking ending that will have everyone talking! Seeds sown here will bear bitter fruit for Miles in the upcoming Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man series! And it all starts here! No fan can afford to miss the epic ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #200!
actionmoviefanatix - 3/7/2014, 2:33 PM
So if the Ultimate universe is where heroes and villains can actually die and stay dead, then are they introducing new heroes? Like, not just new people in Spider-Man's suit?

I think this is what is causing all the uproar over there never being super heroes of color. We still have all the same white super heroes from 50 years ago and somehow they have barely aged. If we accepted that death was a permanent part of the real Marvel universe then we would probably have tons of diversity all throughout the Marvel universe.
KidGoku - 3/7/2014, 2:38 PM
Funny how Miles is single handedly holding the Ultimate universe because really without him right now, it'd be shit.
PeterDarker - 3/7/2014, 3:10 PM
Holy shit is that Peter!?! Is that Ben Reilly (what the hell happened to him)? Is that Ultimate Scarlet Spider!?!?! WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?!

Also: Just cause
Nivekian - 3/7/2014, 3:15 PM
lame.
manofsteel1942 - 3/7/2014, 3:21 PM
Thanks PeterDarker..!!

Ultimate Booty

I'd read that.
ManCalledSting - 3/7/2014, 3:59 PM
If Miles is in the background, who's in that awesome Spidey suit? Plus, if Cap died, who's the new guy?
ManCalledSting - 3/7/2014, 4:00 PM
Ironman's suit looks great too!
BIGBMH - 3/7/2014, 6:22 PM
I believe this is the third relaunch. This is just the end of a chapter. They're probably go back to the original numbering when they reach 250.

Very curious about the Spider-man in the center of the last pic since Miles is clearly there. He's gotta be important if he's in the center and I don't think they'd put a new character front and center. Don't wanna get my hopes up, but I'll be so happy if Peter returns and I get to read series featuring both of them.
ManCalledSting - 3/7/2014, 7:22 PM
I'm calling Scarlet Spider. Clearly someone has been looking at the clone saga design ideas from the 90's. That looks like a hybrid of acouple Scarelt Spider designs.
Bark4Soul - 3/7/2014, 7:33 PM
"How did he die?" Um, there is this shit called google, fkn use it!!!
patrat18 - 3/7/2014, 9:33 PM
Miles.
dellamorte1872 - 3/7/2014, 9:38 PM
It's the new scarlet Spider-Man peters clone done right no spider woman altering mishaps. That's why it MILES MORALES ULT SPIDEY there will be a new title as well for ^
