The first poster for the sequel to The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, fully titled - ready? - The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water 3D, hit the web today. The film will be a mix of the television show's traditional animation style and, when our porous protagonist makes his way to the surface, a more textured CG look combined with live-action. There's not much in a way of plot synopsis, but this sequence of storyboards (pictured below, courtesy of Chris Reccardi) show Spongebob "uncharacteristically freaking out."

Spongebob started dying out after 2004...
TheRationalNerd - 6/10/2014, 6:13 AM
Still looking forward to this though. :D
Azbat - 6/10/2014, 6:19 AM
@soto

I feel like when you say anyone you mean, very specifically me.
MrSotoMan - 6/10/2014, 6:33 AM
@Azbat- Anyone honestly, anyone could of asked that question.

Spongebob is not dying out and it never will. The show still has a big following bigger than any Nickelodeon show ever made. Bigger then Rugrats, bigger then Rocket Power, Wild Thornberries, Hey Arnold (one of my favorites), a bunch of those shows don't even compare to the popularity of Spongebob.

Adults, teens at 13 and up have always been saying Spongebob is dying, Spongebob is going to get cancelled soon saying that shit for YEARS, and has never been cancelled, why

POPULARITY.
MrNiklander - 6/10/2014, 6:55 AM
Shit show and shit movie I dont care if it's popular or not it's stupid and I pity the parents allowing the children to watch this shit
V8ER - 6/10/2014, 6:58 AM
How come The Spongebob Movie gets a sequel, but not The Simpsons Movie? That's just wrong

SpongeBob SquarePants has received many awards and nominations from several award bodies since its debut in 1999. It has been nominated for 15 Emmy Awards, and won Outstanding Special Class Animated Program in 2010.[166] The show received 17 Annie Awards nominations, out of which it has won six times,[167][168][169][170][171][172] as well as four BAFTA Children's Awards, out of which it has won twice. Since 2004, IGN's regional website in the UK placed SpongeBob SquarePants 15th in its top 100 animated series of all time list.[173] In 2006, IGN ranked the show at the same spot on its list of "Top 25 Animated Series of All Time".[174] In a 2013 list, the website ranked SpongeBob SquarePants 12th in "The Top 25 Animated Series for Adults".[175]

The show is among the "All-TIME 100 TV Shows" as chosen by Time television critic James Poniewozik. He said, "It's the most funny, surreal, inventive example of the explosion in creative kids' (and adult) entertainment that Nick, Cartoon Network and their ilk made possible".[176] Viewers of the UK television channel Channel 4 have voted SpongeBob SquarePants at No. 28 in its 2005's The 100 Greatest Cartoons.[177] TV Guide listed the character of SpongeBob SquarePants at No. 9 for its "50 Greatest Cartoon Characters of All Time".[178] In 2013, the publication ranked SpongeBob SquarePants the eighth "Greatest TV Cartoon of All Time".[179] In June 2010, Entertainment Weekly named SpongeBob one of the "100 Greatest Characters of the Last 20 Years".

Pity....

The first three seasons of Spongebob are some of the best comedy ever.

After, including this, is just complete crap. What a disappointment.
smgmayhem - 6/10/2014, 7:30 AM
I still like the show. Been watching it since i was little and I think its a lot better than all the other weird cartoons they show these days.
Azbat - 6/10/2014, 7:36 AM
Spongebob follows "The Dark Knight"'s lesson: You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain

Wth. Spongebob has gone down the toilet. Show was genius in it's first few seasons, then it just took a bad dive.
TheAbomination - 6/10/2014, 8:47 AM
Spongebob hasn't been funny since the first movie came out. This movie is automatically shit.
TheFirstAvenger97 - 6/10/2014, 9:03 AM
I loved Nick as a kid, but the shows they have now a crap. spongebob hasn't been good since around 2005.
MrFridayNights - 6/10/2014, 9:38 AM
Wow what a stupid way to ruin the legacy of Spongebob.
sinsear912 - 6/10/2014, 10:30 AM

whoa123 - 6/11/2014, 8:44 AM
Yay! My inner child rejoiced! Spongebob will always will be my favorite cartoon character. I just hope the 3D animation is as good as the 2D animation.
