I hope there's a purpose for that belt.
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 6/13/2011, 11:08 AM
(smh) terrible…
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 6/13/2011, 11:11 AM
Itd be ok if they kept the belt yellow and the texture didn't seem so much like an armor.
PaulRom - 6/13/2011, 11:15 AM
That looks pretty cool, glad they ditched the panties.
It'd be awesome if Snyder's Superman has a similar suit.
StrangerX - 6/13/2011, 11:15 AM
Every time I see Cavill he looks more and more like the John Byrne's Man of Steel so I'm hoping for the classic look for the movie.
lokisilvertongue - 6/13/2011, 11:17 AM
did batman make this for him?
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 6/13/2011, 11:20 AM
I wanna kill someone everytime I look at those boots…DC please take this back to the drawing board…literally.
StuckInPanels - 6/13/2011, 11:21 AM
I just read online that they are putting to rest the JSA :(
spider1489 - 6/13/2011, 11:24 AM
ummmm.... i dont know.. so far i dont like the armor look and the the pictures are terrible..... maybe when a better artist handles then we will see.
ThreeBigTacos - 6/13/2011, 11:27 AM
isn't one of the factors of superman's outfit that it's supposed to be conceiled under his normal clothing? How does he hide the boots, armor, and such?
marvel72 - 6/13/2011, 11:45 AM
is that armor ? why does superman need armor ?

this suit looks like shit.
CorndogBurglar - 6/13/2011, 11:45 AM
why does everyone think it looks like armor? i don't see it. there's no reflection or anything to show that its hardened. it just looks like a suit...
longbowhunter - 6/13/2011, 11:57 AM
Yeah I hate the belt the most. If they took away the red underwear, why leave the belt?
naterator - 6/13/2011, 11:58 AM
Needs more yellow. the knee pads over all have me fried. Brings to mind the famous quote by ZOD if this sticks. Just make his blue undies red again and change the belt to yellow as it should be and ill accept the rest,,,,yes even the knee pads....

i mean he looks like a freaking xmen.
superotherside - 6/13/2011, 11:59 AM
i like it! especially if it is armor... but i'd like a yellow belt buckle...
KingKazma - 6/13/2011, 12:01 PM
Whats the point of giving him an underwear line? Also, whats the point of having the diamond shape on his belt without it having the "S" on it? The suit in Superman Returns had it.
CraptainAmerica - 6/13/2011, 12:04 PM
I LIKE IT!!! just the artwork on the face looks a bit odd
Moltenman - 6/13/2011, 12:07 PM
Looks rubbish, surely it wouldn't take too much just to make the classic suit a little more updated without making wholesale changes to it. Is he planning on spending a lot of time on his knees hence the pads?
Bohemiben - 6/13/2011, 12:18 PM
I can see why people would think it's armor, however my first impression is that the lines were seams, similar to the Superman: Earth One uniform.

I think it's the boots and kneepads area that gives off the most impression of armor. Personally I agree that at least the belt buckle should be yellow. I think the purpose of the belt is simply to give a contrast of color so the whole uniform isn't blue. Besides that my only question regarding the belt is are the other squares on the belt pouches similar to Batman's utility belt? If so, what's in them?

Overall I'm not in a rage over this change. I will wait until how it fits into the context of the story before making any judgement. If they make no mention/explanation of the change at all, I would understand why people would be upset.

I do believe this is a test to see if they can go with this, or something similar to this, in the Man of Steel movie with Henry Cavill.
Protonite - 6/13/2011, 12:28 PM
Looks more like one of Luthor's clones. I know they want to get rid of the red panties, but did they have to add so many lines to the rest of the suit to make that happen? And OMG! Where did those outdated robo-boots come from?

Anyway, if you look closely, it looks as if he's still wearing the panties, but with the blue color.
naterator - 6/13/2011, 12:34 PM
there i fixed it. all i have to work with is paint....but i could live with this..

epc1122 - 6/13/2011, 12:35 PM
i'm 99% sure this is fan art. first i saw this on the boards of superherohype, and then i found it on deviant art by the person who created it. i wonder how close he is to the comics. i think it looks pretty good but still don't like the collar.
naterator - 6/13/2011, 12:55 PM
@TABOO13 & Arminies

thanks...im sure anyone with a better program to render it would have done much better but at least this looks like superman.
Jer3miah - 6/13/2011, 1:15 PM
FAIL. And the art sucks culo. They're tryna make Supes have the Arkham Asylum/City design Batman has. Yet Supes IS his own armor. How retarded...
Hellsing - 6/13/2011, 1:17 PM
I honestly don't mind the look, but I do think it looks a bit clunky it needs to be more smooth maybe. I guess we'll have to wait and see how they explain the costume change and everything else. Wonder if we'll get another take on the origin for supes
RunDTC - 6/13/2011, 1:17 PM
jazzman - 6/13/2011, 1:20 PM
@marvel72

i doubt its a armor it looks more like seam lines

@Jer3miah

its not a Armor suit its seam lines on the new Superman suit
Terraforge - 6/13/2011, 1:23 PM
It's fake it seems. Chappy on deviantart made it.
blueorangeny - 6/13/2011, 1:28 PM
it's funny. I read all the "experts" and their comments. You can never make someone happy.
gandalf550 - 6/13/2011, 1:52 PM
Like the old one better.
BillyBatson1000 - 6/13/2011, 1:52 PM
The costume is immaterial – just make the character relevant to 2011+ I’m sick to the back teeth of the origin/Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, Lex Luthor circus of endless clichés. We need NEW blood in the writing pen
Fogs - 6/13/2011, 1:54 PM
The lines just seem pointless, but that boot and knee is what really bother me. They could just clean up the old one and it would be better.

They did that style to wolverine sometime ago and I also thought it seemed stupid.
blvdnoise - 6/13/2011, 1:57 PM
Ehhhhhh.. The distinct separations in the suit to his arms and legs from his torso just makes him look like a life-size action figure. Fail I.M.O. The NO PANTIES might work though. MIGHT
superman7 - 6/13/2011, 2:00 PM
I wouldn't hate it if they didn't put so many stupid lines and make it look like a suit of armor. This is just fcking stupid!
l0rdleg0las - 6/13/2011, 2:28 PM
he's the [frick]ing man of steel, why in the hell does he need an armor suit?

also, what is this popped collar crap on all the new envisionings of the male characters? what is this 1987?
naterator - 6/13/2011, 2:39 PM
@INTRUDER.....thats an evil wicked thought.....however you may be spot on. TWO THUMBS UP!!

sonofsamadams - 6/13/2011, 2:46 PM
They didn't really change much. I was expecting much more...
TheRandomGeek - 6/13/2011, 3:06 PM
I'm actually digging the new suit! I really like the new texture of the suit and the collar, makes it look more "modern"... Still, it'd look much better with the red undies...

@naterator Just like that! It could actually work for the new Superman movie :P
Chrome - 6/13/2011, 3:17 PM
SO he is STILL wearing underwear outside of his pants!!! but they are blue so everyone doesn't care? For all that make the shit red!! WTF!

This suit serves no purpose at all..
mgeoff88 - 6/13/2011, 3:22 PM
Wow... in the other picture certain areas protruded more(armored pecks and knee pads) which aren't as evident here, but it still doesn't improve it much. I agree with a lot of people that if the suit didn't have so many lines, it would look a lot better. I mean, this is the Man of Steel, he doesn't need an armored suit.
