Giving the nod to the first movie solely based on the novelty of it.
GentlemanlyBatman - 5/9/2015, 1:46 PM
DC fanboys, it's time to spam the "They both suck." button! jk Avengers 1 was better.
Nick56 - 5/9/2015, 1:47 PM
As much as I think the first Avengers is overrated its such a better movie than AOU. AUO was just a poorly paced series of events barely strung together by a paper thin story, clustered action sequences, and mediocre characters (except Vision). The plotting really felt like Star Trek Into Darkness (like they came up with a few action scenes and built a weak plot around it to get from one action scene to another) and Iron Man 2 (just set-up/filler for the next films).

Based on the leaked Civil War stuff it seems like that is more of an Avengers movie and important piece of the MCU than AOU
WakandasSoul - 5/9/2015, 1:47 PM
First, flowed much better than AOU. AOU was rushed and underdeveloped at parts

Mercwitham0uth - 5/9/2015, 1:49 PM
Hard for me to pick. Avengers 1 was something that was never done on screen before where characters from other films team up for 1 big event. Age of Ultron was great and I loved it. I find both to be equally great.
legopieface - 5/9/2015, 1:50 PM
AOU was just a set up movie. The dialogue was good but the ending just set everyone up for the stand alones.
Titanace - 5/9/2015, 1:51 PM
The second was better in several ways for me. First one was fun tho.
WhoDaFoo - 5/9/2015, 1:51 PM
1 was basic yet better paced. 2 contained more but was more rushed. So, they both suck. 😛

Honestly though, 1 was a more memorable experience to me.
BatwingDCCU - 5/9/2015, 1:57 PM
@Nick56 That's because Civil War should've been the thing the MCU was building towards.
HeavensWarrior - 5/9/2015, 1:58 PM
both are average movies
Jhuntdaprodigy - 5/9/2015, 1:59 PM
I was a big fan of both of the films, and I don't really think either one is that much better than the other. I think the first Avengers had a more coherent plot and obviously them teaming up felt more special the first time we saw it. Really, I think Captain America: The Winter Soldier was better than AOU. If the Russos can be consistent with the quality level of TWS, then Civil War and Infinity War will end up being the best MCU films yet.
MapleSyrup - 5/9/2015, 2:01 PM
I think the first one is good, because we'd never seen anything like it. But the second one had better cinematography and took itself a bit more seriously.
FrozenDiamondz - 5/9/2015, 2:04 PM
Both are weaksauce

I expect more from a team that has both Hulk and Thor smh
Butthole - 5/9/2015, 2:08 PM
AoU was much better. I think people liked Avengers more because of the novelty of it being the first of its kind. But AoU was a more solid and entertaining film.
lexxust - 5/9/2015, 2:09 PM
it was clear AOU had a bigger budget, and more action scenes. but number 1 was better. story flowed better and they had less stupid jokes. loki was loki but ultron was not ultron. i felt a little cheated with the ultron that joss created for AOU.
MercWithAGun - 5/9/2015, 2:14 PM
I loved and enjoyed both films, however the first 'Avengers' movie still takes the prize.
Ozwald - 5/9/2015, 2:14 PM
I disliked them both equally.
BigFoster - 5/9/2015, 2:23 PM
The first avengers should not win because of the novelty of seeing the heroes together for the first time
Lizardking310 - 5/9/2015, 2:23 PM
First Avengers was better.. AOU just had a better cap costume. That thing in the first movie hurts my eyes!
jaysin420 - 5/9/2015, 2:29 PM
Def the first one, forgetting all the other issues, Loki alone was a billion times better than Ultron.
PietroMaximoff - 5/9/2015, 2:32 PM
Definitely. No one asked which was a more major cinematic accomplishment. It's which movie was better that matters.
TheBrownHornet - 5/9/2015, 2:36 PM
I liked them equally. AoU was different. Set up movie? That's funny. It looked way more stand alone.
Disclaimered - 5/9/2015, 2:50 PM
It's hard to pinpoint as both were a tremendous job for one director. These one felt more so like the comic come to life. The first laid the ground work, and Whedon had such a nurse following up to some sort of satisfactory level. I loved them both as a whole, working unit.
Toshitheshadow - 5/9/2015, 2:51 PM
They were both good but Avengers 1 was better.
SUPREMEBEING - 5/9/2015, 2:53 PM
Both movies were good I enjoyed them, I haven't enjoyed a DC movie since Watchmen and The Dark Knight, so DC sucks.
hufflepuff69 - 5/9/2015, 2:54 PM
I prefer the second one just cuz i prefer having an already established team rather than seeing them build the team. But everyone has their own preference so theres no real answer to this
BruceWillis - 5/9/2015, 3:03 PM
Age of Ultron was a better movie. Better dialgue, better character development, better action, better story (more thought out), it had Vision and the Twins. You cant say it was a set up movie. It worked perfectly as a stand alone. In the first one i HATED how Cap, Hawkeye an Thor were handled, and the first 40 minutes were kind of boring. The only things i didnt like about AOU were the deaths of Quicksilver and Baron zemo and that Thor side-quest. Im not saying that i didnt love the first one, but it cant just win because of its originality. You have to consider which one was better in its own context. It is hard to do a very good sequel and Whedon delivered with very hard work.
JPSpideyFan2015 - 5/9/2015, 3:05 PM
I go with Age of Ultron, the first one is really good and made me excited, but I think AOU is more mature, complex, serious and set things very well for the future.
Spiderfan2226 - 5/9/2015, 3:14 PM
I thought 1 was slightly better. It was just cleaner, more polished. The second felt alittle rushed and spastic at times to fit all the stuff they wanted to get in there. It was all good stuff, better than 1, but due to time constraints they didn't all hit they're mark for me. The vision thing didn't work so well for me, they didn't really get into the twins enough for me to build emotional attachments to them. Still my fourth or fifth favorite cbm ever. I feel like it need to see it a couple more times for me to fully appreciate it though.
OuzoPowerMan - 5/9/2015, 3:18 PM
First one. My expectations for AOU were a bit low, considering how the first one was, to me, the best superhero film ever made. And as it turned out, I believe I was right. Plus, I didn't really like how Whedon and Feige led us to believe that the end of AOU would set up next year's Civil War, cause that never happened (I mean, Cap even said he'd miss Tony, lol. It was a happy ending).
Worked great as a sequel though.
JohnnyB - 5/9/2015, 3:20 PM
The Avengers is content with being a mindless CGI spectacle, whereas AoU is a whole lot messier, but at least has a "few" interesting aspects. Even though it failed miserably at execution, I at least appreciate some kind of effort.
Amazing512 - 5/9/2015, 3:29 PM
It's close but I have to go with Age of Ultron. More intimate character moments and that third act is mind blowing
SigmaCenturion - 5/9/2015, 3:35 PM
AOU was better.
Batchops - 5/9/2015, 3:41 PM
Avengers was great, but AOU was mind blowing!
Batchops - 5/9/2015, 3:45 PM
Avengers was great, but AOU was mind blowing!!
nikgrid - 5/9/2015, 3:45 PM
Age of Ultron was better, all the characters didn't sound the same, and the story was Waaay better. They're both not as good as Iron Man or the Winter Soldier though.
StiltMantis - 5/9/2015, 3:57 PM
They both suck!
wcwpoet - 5/9/2015, 4:12 PM
Novelty is cool but the scale and grandeur of AOU gives it the edge in my book. I love the Avengers but let's be honest it starts a little slow & takes a while to get going. AOU is non-stop & I loved every second
jmeromeo - 5/9/2015, 4:40 PM
They were both pretty good but not great. Full of plot holes. Even though AOU felt rushed and crammed, I give it a slight edge for better costumes, cinematography and more action.
TheDaytime - 5/9/2015, 4:45 PM
Avengers was far better, different league. Age of Ultron was fun, great action sequences, but ultimately it was more of the same, hopefully Joss will include his cut on the blu ray. I think the individual Marvel movies will always be better than the Avengers titles, Guardians and Winter Soldier set the trend, they were both better than Ultron, and I'm really not keen on the new team. It's great seeing all our favourites up on screen though, I'm not complaining, bring on Phase Two............and BvS......Excelsior !
