Visual Effects Breakdown Videos For IMMORTALS And THE THREE MUSKETEERS

Visual effects company, Rodeo VFX, has uploaded a couple videos that highlight their work on The Three Musketeers, and Immortals, which starred Henry "Superman" Cavill (Man of Steel).

"Rodeo FX has been working on this action packed film with visionary director Tarsem Singh and Relativity Media from pre-production until final delivery. Our team of artists has taken an active part in the development of the look and feel of the film. We were involved directly at the conceptual stage working with the art department to determine the Immortals aesthetics. Our team has created many key environments such as Mount Tartars, a huge environment with a dam and the mountain where the Titans were imprisoned. Rodeo FX also created a CG army in this sequence consisting of thousands of soldiers. Rodeo FX was responsible for creating the encampment, and also the shrine set, both of these key environments for many of our matte painting establishing shots. Rodeo FX is often called in for 911 work, and it was also the case on Immortals. Rodeo swooped in towards the end of shot delivery to improve 10 shots and the monastery asset to create the aesthetic VFX Supervisor Raymond Gieringer was after, and had not been able to previously obtain." - RodeoVFX

In Immortals, the ruthless King Hyperion (Rourke) leads his bloodthirsty army on a murderous rampage across Greece to find a deadly weapon that will destroy humanity. A mortal chosen by Zeus named Theseus (Cavill) must lead the fight against Hyperion and his evil army with the fate of mankind and the Gods at stake.

Immortals was directed by Tarsem Singh, from a script written by Charley Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides. The film starred: Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, with John Hurt and Mickey Rourke. Now on Blu-ray, DVD & Digital Download.

"Creating the environment for the Tower of London in a 16th century context was one of the great opportunities that were presented to us during this project. We had to get into serious historical researches in order to make sure all details were perfectly accurate! From general architecture to very specific elements such as crowds, trees and flags, everything we designed in CG had to match with the time period. Our Matte Painting and Compositing teams were not left without any work as we also had amazing establishing shots on our scope of work. " - RodeoVFX

Based on Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel comes a big-screen action adventure update of the Three Musketeers, conceived and shot in state-of-the-art 3D.

They are known as Porthos, Athos, and Aramis—three elite warriors who serve the King of France as his best Musketeers. After discovering an evil conspiracy to overthrow the King, the Musketeers come across a young, aspiring hero — D’Artagnan — and take him under their wing. Together, the four embark on a dangerous mission to foil the plot that not only threatens the Crown, but the future of Europe itself.

The Three Musketeers was directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, from a screenplay written by Andrew Davies & Alex Litvak. The film starred: Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Mads Mikkelson, Juno Temple with Orlando Bloom and Christoph Waltz. Now on DVD/Blu-ray/Blu-ray 3D!

Is anyone else wondering why Luke Evans hasn't joined the MCU yet? Love that dude.

While immortals was not the greatest movie ever it was definitely good and entertaining. Mickey rourke was amazing in it.

Very nice, always love me some great VFX breakdowns. And putting everything else aside, these two movies admittedly pretty much nailed it on that aspect. Immortals looks really great, though.

About Luke Evans...yes, love the guy as an actor, and he's clearly been dwelling for too long among sub-par movies, at best. I'm all for him as Doctor Strange (although Benedict Cumberbatch would be my top pick for that), but I think he'd be a lot better for a new Tony Stark, once Robert Downey, Jr. has grown way too old for the role. They're going with the Bond cycle, remember? He can certainly fit some other roles, though, but that's the best one I can think of, as for now.

Two insanely awful movies lol I even tried the obligatory "second viewing" just to see if maybe I missed something, or didn't give them fair shakes. NOPE! They were actually even LESS watchable the second time around. Cavill's crap performance in Immortals is what has me worried about him playing Superman. I haven't seen him act well in a single movie he's been in yet. I do like Luke Evans though...except for that ridiculously gay looking outfit he wore in Immortals lol My goodness did the gods look retarded in that movie! hahaha Three Musketeers just plain blew donkey nuts, but really, what can you expect from the guy that is continuously allowed carte blanche to rape the Resident Evil franchise?

Luke Evans should be Starlord.
