POLL: What Did You Think Of DREDD?

POLL: What Did You Think Of DREDD? POLL: What Did You Think Of DREDD?

It may have had a pretty lousy opening weekend, but we were all big fans of Lionsgate's Judge Dredd reboot here at CBM. What about you guys? Did it deserve to do much better? Or is it a case of bad BO for a bad movie? Vote away..

We all know terrible movies can still clean up at the box office, but unfortunately it works the other way too sometimes. Pete Travis' Dredd failed to make so much as a whimper on its first weekend in the US (It did take the no.1 spot in the UK however), raking in a mere $6.3 million. We all think it should have fared MUCH better, but what about you you? Vote below and sound off in the usual place..

I thought it was fun, but like BattlinMurdock, let it stand on its own merit. It doesn't need a trilogy, but it was neat watching a post-apocalyptic future without the premise being to try to restore civilization.

Next year, it'll be Mad Max, so I'm not weeping over it's box office failure, and it's guaranteed to make a killing in DVD sales.

I don't think the market is there for a movie like this currently. I know that movies like this tend to do better around February or March. That may have been a better space to put it.

I'll probably see this movie eventually, but I can't say as if this was on my list of must-be-mades. It's not light hearted, so you can't bring the kids. There is no love interest, so its not a date movie. This is a late at night when the kids and wife go to bed type movie. Just like how I saw the Raid. And hereing the similarities from everyone makes me think I can wait even longer to see it.

@Tainted87- I agree, this is a DVD movie, not a go to the theater and shell out my comic book money type event.

Isn't it a date movie? Depends on the date, all of my lad-pals loved it.

Awesome movie and did justice (sorry) to one of my very favourite fictional characters. hopefully the box office will pick up. Please get it watched cos i'm sick of hearing some CBM fans whingeing about not getting R rated/18 rated CBM's and then not seeing them when they come out!

No offense, but you're comments read like a woman trying to seem like a man.

Absolutely fantastic CBM second to none in my opinion. My favorite all time CBM since 300. Mesmerizing, atmospheric, gritty, and incredible roller coaster ride that had me grinning from start to finish. A man's movie made for men who like movies....its the Hungry Man movie.

"but what it has done is gain critical acclaim"

I'm still trying to figure out how 6.5/10 overall average score translates to a movie be critically acclaimed. Yes, the fans for the most part seem to have liked it. I will be going this week to give it a shot.

toco89@ I take it you aren't overly familiar with Teabag? :-P

Who are these people chiming in their opinions and reviews without even having seen the film.....I mean what is that? Sorry but until you actually see it you really need to just shut the hell up! What do you even call that?

saw it last night and was sad to say it was meh, i usually love this type of movie, but nothing stood out to me. There were some cool kills and gore but that was about it. The slow motion shots were a little too much at times. Typical B movie, like i said i usually love these movies, maybe ive just seen to many of them to think that this one doesn't offer much.

Teabag- I thought The Raid was just ok to be honest and I'm really not trying to ne cute about it because I'm such a big Dredd fan. Personally I' m not that big a martial arts fan...so that's just my taste and not a knock on this beloved movie. My question for you is....when you say you think the sequel will be s#!t ...is that a compliment or a slam? I'm curious as I here this expression from time to time and want to be clear.

"Who are these people chiming in their opinions and reviews without even having seen the film"

I hope you aren't referring to me as I didn't state my opinion or review on the movie. I simply questioned a statement made and posted a factual rating as to why. It has nothing to do with whether I saw the film or not.

I was going to wait and rent it, but based on all the gushing here, I figured I will go see it in the theater. Tea and I have very similar views and perspectives on here, so I am going to trust his opinion on the film. Not sure I trust some of the others. Must be his "woman trying to sound like a man" vibe that leaves me vulnerable to his opinion. :-P

I would love to see Urban on screen as Dredd again, I very much enjoyed the film.

Holy shitballs we loved this movie! It was definitely 100 times better than that campy Stallone film (Even tho we love Stallone films) and pretty true to the source material! It had the dark and gritty violence...the one line zingers...the dark humor.....it was Dredd...Karl Urban IS Dredd. We were deeply satisfied with this film...just sucked that it was so short.

if that is the case, you are definitely a lesbian with very good taste...

@plastic, no way you have a wife and kid, I remember your pics, you can't be older than 20... also, this is very much a theater movie unless you have one helluva home theater, like me, but I still go see everything at the cinema which doesn't make the bride very happy.

I never go see a movie twice in the theatre...the last time I did I was 10 and the movie was Star wars and I think I saw it like eleven times. I watched Dredd in 2D so now I will go again and see it in 3D as everyone is saying that it utilizes the format well and it will probably be my only chance to see a truly bitchen movie in this unique way. Again Dredd doesn't need the gimmick as it is sensational ( ooh....perfect word ) on its own but a great excuse to see it twice. It will also definately get my Bluray money for a collector's edition.

@tea- I already spent my night out alone without having to check in every couple of hours coupons on Dark Knight Rises, Avengers, Spiderman, and John Carter. Dredd was too late in the year.

@Ror- I burned myself on the first movie I ever took my wife to. My question: Why ISN'T Starship Troopers a good first date movie? Henceforth, no more gory/action movies for date night. Instead I get to see such gems as Wanderlust or What to Expect. Am I living the dream? Yes, because I don't have to pay for doin' it and I can get it anytime I want (as long as Aunt Flow stays away).

Back to Dredd...give me a release date on video and I'll snatch it up for a all night caffinated movie marathon.

@Redstorm - Considering my Vikings completed dominated the 49ers, does that make us better than your beloved Pack??? I think so!

Also, it's too bad the Saints had to cheat because it would have been really cool to see Favre win a Lombardi Trophy with the Vikes ;)

@Tea - Before I was even PVT America I asked my friend, who happened to be the first of my brotherhood to perform cunnilingus, what it tasted like. His answer? Salty rubber. I have never been able to get it out of my head since. Didn't help that it wasn't too far from the truth. ;)

@tea- Great! Now I'm hungry for wings.

@SFC- Stand tall my friend, the Vikings will be put in their place when they face off against the Packers soon enough.

See guys, this is how great this movie is. We aren't even talking about it anymore. What movie was this article about again?
