Hugh Jackman made a surprise appearance at Thursday's Comic-Con. Straight off the plane from Australia where he said they had just finished filming.
Jackman made a point to give a shout-out to Wolverine creator Len Wein. "I have to shake your hand because from it came my career," Jackman said as he hopped off stage and waded through the crowd to shake hands with Wein. He also mentioned that he was happy that they were finally making an appearance at the Comic-Con.
Attendees then got the first look at the Wolverine Origins movie, starting off with Wolverine and Sabretooth being executed by a firing squad, with Wolverine stating that it "tickled" when asked how being executed felt.
A younger William Stryker appears, recruiting for a new "team" he is putting together, and he (obviously) wants none-other than Wolverine and Sabretooth.
The trailer featured a ton of action, and at one point featured Gambit throwing a handful of cards, and laying the smack down with his staff. We also saw a little bit of Deadpool kicking some butt.
The teaser footage ended with Wolverine facing off against Sabretooth and declaring "I'm going to cut your goddamned head off. See if that works."
After the video footage, Hugh Jackman said "The movie is big, it is action packed ... It's bad ass."
"You're going to see a lot of berserker rage."
He also mentioned that we would be seeing more of him at Wonder Con to promote the new movie.
Hugh Jackman said that Wolverine is "one of the best comic book characters ever created." Judging by the trailer that we saw, Wolverine Origins looks like it's shaping up to be one of the top movies next year.
About The Author:
ComicBookMovie.com and Best Little Sites was the brainchild of Nate and a friend way back in 2002. Nate initially focused on the back-end programming and front-end design, but now manages the company and its associated sites as well, with a LOT of help from some very talented contributors.
Nate has loved comics from a very young age and continues to read them on a regular basis thanks to subscriptions to various titles (both Marvel and DC). He also loves movies, as his wife and children will attest. He's not overly critical of movies, so his reviews should be taken with a grain of salt as he's much more interested in being entertained and escaping the "real" world for a couple of hours than finding every conceivable plot-hole and character flaw in a film.
Outside of his guilty "nerdy" pleasures, Nate enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys, CrossFit, playing guitar, coaching youth sports and MMA (he spent a couple of years in the cage as an NHB fighter, but is now MUCH too old).
