It was recently reported that Marvel and Netflix were planning a solo series for a fan-favourite character we'll be meeting for the first time in season 2 of Daredevil next month: Frank Castle/The Punisher - but it seems we'll have to put the breaks on that rumour for the time being.

"I think that's something that people are speculating on, as opposed to something that's actually happening," Marvel Television's Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb explained to Digital Spy. "It's certainly our hope that any of our characters will be embraced and that people want to see more of them."

Of course Loeb might be downplaying things in the absence of an offcial announcement, but for now we'll have to take his word for it. Still, if the character proves as popular as he's expected to in Daredevil's sophomore season, there's every chance Marvel will rethink their plans anyway. Thoughts?
