Vulture and Doc Ock in TASM 2?

Vulture and Doc Ock in TASM 2?

While only Rhino, the Green Goblin, and Electro have been confirmed for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the latest trailer hinted that we could be seeing two more villains: The Vulture and Doctor Octopus.

We all know that Spider-Man 2 is including three villains (much like the unfortunate and much-derided Spider Man 3). However, the latest trailer suggests that there could, in fact, be even more going on in this movie. A scene that presumably takes place in Oscorp shows a man in a suit walking past a series of display cases as Richard Parker speaks in a voice-over, saying that he finally discovered what Oscorp was planning on using his research for. One display case holds four moving mechanical arms. Another holds a pair of metal wings.

This strongly suggests the existence of Vulture and Doctor Octopus (and further suggests that Richard Parker may have had a hand in the creation of their signature technology). While it is unlikely that Vulture and Doc Ock will appear as major players in TASM 2, this may reveal to us two more of the eventual players in the cinematic Sinister Six. At the very least, it represents a sweet easter egg for the fans.

What do you think?

I know it's fun for people to jump on the "too many villains" bandwagon, and accuse this movie of being Spiderman 3 all over again, but...Spiderman 3's issue wasn't the number of villains, but rather how the villains were handled in the story.

Batman Begins had a solid handful of villains, and Dark Knight had even more. Some related to each other in the plot, and some didn't, but all seemed to work. If Vulture and Dr. Octopus are in this, I'd assume it's simply a cameo setting them up for future films.
Torsen - 12/5/2013, 7:35 AM
@DudeGuyMan That's true! I didn't even realize that. Verrry interesting.
PsychoManiacJacky - 12/5/2013, 7:39 AM
Does this really need an article? Everyone knows about it lol.
Sdrumkid - 12/5/2013, 7:42 AM
@DudeGuyMan hey you should make an article about that
sameoldthing - 12/5/2013, 7:44 AM
How is it possible that they STILL CANT GET THE GREEN GOBLIN RIGHT?!
His current comic book look could easily be translated on film.

Don't give me that shit about how do you explain the mask/costume.
A true creative scriptwriter using the actual comics as source material could make it work.

Trailer looked to have cool action but aside from Spidey's great suit, villains look lame as hell.
charlie2094 - 12/5/2013, 7:47 AM

How do we not know Norman is the real Green Goblin? He had a greenish, purple complexion in the trailer when he was in the bed, sure there's a reason for him being in the film...just wait

Think Vulture and Doc Ock are just set up for the next film, hinting at the stuff Oscorp is working on
sameoldthing - 12/5/2013, 8:03 AM
I hope all this plays out well in the actual film. Seeing is believing..just guessing now.
This could be similar to Raimi's Spidey film, the second one being leaps better than the first.
Bearjew - 12/5/2013, 8:05 AM
Sinister Six: Rhino, Electro, Doc Ock, Vulture, Green Goblin and hopefully Sandman (if not GG or Sandman then Mysterio)
cdpacheco89 - 12/5/2013, 8:12 AM
I think they are going to handle the villains quite well in this installment. They will weave in and out of eachother as if they are all the main villains in their own episodes. Like the movie is a three part microseries
Interestein - 12/5/2013, 8:42 AM
Apparently that's from the after credits scene and there is another chamber with the Venom symbiote (Oz formula)
Interestein - 12/5/2013, 8:43 AM
The Sinister Six will be Electro, Rhino, Goblin (I still think Harry is hob), Vulture, Doctor Octopus, and Venom.

I really hope they go the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show route with Doc Ock.
Interestein - 12/5/2013, 8:45 AM
Comparing this to The Dark Knight in terms of character timing, Electro is equivalent to the Joker, Goblin to Two-Face and Rhino to Scarecrow/Falcone.
BANEofExistence - 12/5/2013, 8:48 AM
So Electro (Jaime Foxx) seems great! Rhino im starting to warm up to now... Harry as (Hopefully Hobgob) seems... decent....

Sinister Six...,

1- Electro
2- Rhino
3- Vulture
4- Mysterio
5- Doc Oc
6- Sandman or Kraven

Norman Osborn uses them to critaclly wound Peter in the third film spiderman nearly defeats them all then the true Green Goblin reveals himself! (Almost like Bane in Knightfall)
Supermanfan93 - 12/5/2013, 9:09 AM
I don't know if anyone else saw, there was a clip of some storage garage looking things and there was six different ones.. Clutching at straws but maybe that's a hint for sinister 6??
Brainiac13 - 12/5/2013, 9:15 AM
I'm sure its for part 3.
TelaVizion - 12/5/2013, 9:22 AM
Why the hell are yall begging to see Sandman on screen again?

Spidey has more villains to use for a movie version of the Sinister Six.

Shouldn't even be using Doc Ock
thebearjew - 12/5/2013, 9:49 AM
does SONY have rights to William fisk
MBZ1993 - 12/5/2013, 9:50 AM
Alfred Molina was the perfect doc ock but who else can pull it off?
thebearjew - 12/5/2013, 9:50 AM
anyone notice green goblin is a SUPER SAIYAN!
thebearjew - 12/5/2013, 9:51 AM
I know it sounds kind of laughable at first
but RAIN WILSON could make an awesome Doc Ock
marantaz - 12/5/2013, 9:58 AM
I think it will be Dr. Otto Octavius who is behind all the designs of OsCorp, he probably ordered Peter's parents killed, or did it himself for Norman Osborn, when they turned on OsCorp. When two or three villains aren't enough to defeat Spidey, Otto forms the Sinister Six for ASM3, puts on the arms, which in some way is caused by Spidey to be permanently fused to his body, maybe?
FilmDork1221 - 12/5/2013, 10:03 AM
@MBZ1993 Philip Seymour Hoffman seems like to obvious choice for Doc Ock in the reboot... although I do agree that Alfred Molina was incredible in the role
fettastic - 12/5/2013, 10:04 AM
I'm 100% positive that shot is all we will see of them, except possibly Dr. Octavius and Adrian Toomes just as regular people of course.
Humperdink - 12/5/2013, 10:05 AM
If Vulture and Dr. Octopus are in this, I'd assume it's simply a cameo setting them up for future films.

They're not in this.
The devices they use however is.

This is merely to help set up future films.

Webb isn't going to be able to handle 5 or 6 villains in this movie without making it implode.

It's going to be Harry, Rhino, and Electro.
That's it.
User1134 - 12/5/2013, 10:05 AM
Wait...Waht's The Deal With The Clocktower? Why Is That Significant?
didich - 12/5/2013, 10:09 AM
Sony does NOT have the rights to The Kingpin. As some may remember, the character appeared in the "Daredevil" movie, which means the rights used to belong to FOX and are now part of Marvel (as everything within the "Daredevil" rights reverted to Marvel).
Tainted87 - 12/5/2013, 10:09 AM
Villains are characters. Some people see them as investments of screen time. I don't. The more you see of them, the more you take them for granted.

Look at this, for example. We see a brief shot of Doc Ock's arms and Vulture's wings, and we're pretty much confirming it for ourselves that they're going to be playing a part in the next one.

The man in the hat at the end of TASM and in that trailer shot... nobody actually knows who he is, but we're definitely guessing. Who gets more attention these days? Electro, or speculation?
Pasto - 12/5/2013, 10:10 AM
So...I have to poop....

*Gets up and leaves thread*
ICDYG - 12/5/2013, 10:13 AM
DeHaan's Goblin is clearly the Hobgoblin he's not green enough. I think Norman will be the Green Goblin. As for the Vulture & Doc Ock I think that they'll break out of Ravencroft & Harry's Goblin will steal the tech from Oscorp & give them to the breakouts at the end of the film to set up the sequel.
Tainted87 - 12/5/2013, 10:14 AM
Hobgoblin's orange, Green Goblin is... wait for it...

Guess what color trail Harry's glider is leaving in the poster...
Tainted87 - 12/5/2013, 10:14 AM
Is it, is it that hard to figure out?
TheMadman - 12/5/2013, 10:15 AM
@didich: not true, Fox borrowed the rights from Sony. Sony owns Kingpin.
DukeAcureds - 12/5/2013, 10:19 AM
Maybe we'll be getting the Sinister Six in this movie?
Goblin; Lizard; Doc Ock; Electro; Vulture; Rhino. That makes six.
SimonPhoenix - 12/5/2013, 10:22 AM
Sinister Six:
Doc Ock

Doc Ock and Vulture will be introduced in ASM3.
ASM4 will be all about The Sinister Six.
If things go well, whoever gets killed/incarcerated will open spots for new members of the Six. Venom, Mysterio, Kraven or even Carnage.
TheRebellion - 12/5/2013, 10:22 AM
Whats the point of this article? It's all set up or maybe even a little cameo.
didich - 12/5/2013, 10:32 AM

Really? I remember reading Fox actually bought the rights from Sony and included it in the "Daredevil" package...

Anyway, I don't see a way a "Daredevil" TV Show can work without Fisk, unless Movie Rights and TV Rights are different things.
Maestro - 12/5/2013, 10:37 AM
No. You need to cast characters to PLAY them. They haven't done so, so they won't be in this one.
DanteSparda - 12/5/2013, 10:40 AM
Well, they are certainly planing a sequel with the Sinester Six, I just hope they introduce Doc Ock and Vulture in THAT movie and not waste an entire film introducing them alone.
dannramm113 - 12/5/2013, 10:40 AM
Goblin won't be in the six, he refused to join in the comics due to his ego, I still say the man in the hat is octopus!
nickh0801 - 12/5/2013, 10:45 AM looks more like she's saying "I think they want me" and yes, yes we do! ;)
