Sneaky Spoiler Gets Pics of Smallville Supersuit

We've been sent some pics from the set of Smallville season 9 with Tom Welling in the controversial super suit. They aren't much more than sillouette, but they are definitely him in the suit.

He's a part of the Matrix. You can't see anything. Just a guy in a trench coat.
SirPrize - 8/17/2009, 1:46 PM
MATRIX 4 is coming!!! ; D
LEEE777 - 8/17/2009, 1:47 PM
So this is evil CLARK again maybe???

GEEZUZ, we want spin offs from SMALLVILLE,

i.e. GREEN ARROW, LOSH, MARTIAN MANHUNTER, SUPERGIRL, JUSTICE (even lol).

VILLES been done to death since the god awful last season!

Good pics though CBM! ; )
LEEE777 - 8/17/2009, 1:48 PM
Looks like Anakin
TheSoulEater - 8/17/2009, 1:49 PM
Awesome!!!

I can't believe this, the Avatar movie website is broken. They said they are having technical difficulties, so now I can get tickets...
TheCritic17 - 8/17/2009, 1:49 PM
He is now Mafia-Man
IronMan24 - 8/17/2009, 1:49 PM
The suit is lame. They should have ended the show and started up a new one with him as Superman.
BmanHall - 8/17/2009, 1:50 PM
SUPERGAMBIT strikes again!
necrosage2005 - 8/17/2009, 1:50 PM
So this doesn't show anything besides a dude in a trench coat, whatever, I see it like this, as bad as season 8 was, you can't get any worse right..... RIGHT?!?!
TheDurdenEffect - 8/17/2009, 1:54 PM
whoa......do you think thats air your breathing?
superdog - 8/17/2009, 1:56 PM
@ superdog: Hahaha! Nice quote! "Your mind makes it real." 8|
BmanHall - 8/17/2009, 2:02 PM
If this is the variation of the costume we're being offered, I'll take it. At least it's showing an evolution in the right direction. Plus it will probably be more appealing to people who DON'T want to see the red and blue outfit (among them Tom Welling himself), and at least the "S" will be there. Now let's hope that the scripts are there, too. Unfortunately I've been lured in before. What's the old saying? "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me a couple of dozen times....I'm a putz."
EdGross - 8/17/2009, 2:08 PM
TheDurdenEffect - So this doesn't show anything besides a dude in a trench coat, whatever, I see it like this, as bad as season 8 was, you can't get any worse right..... RIGHT?!?!"...WRONG!!! Have you ever heard the saying "Jumping the shark".

Ed - Well said. I don't know if this direction will pull Smallville out of it's downward spiral.
SirPrize - 8/17/2009, 2:08 PM
It looks a little warm for the old London Fog if you ask me.
DarthMulder - 8/17/2009, 2:11 PM
SoulEater its been ages, can't wait to see what it looks like up close.
Spock - 8/17/2009, 2:13 PM
i know this is way off topic but uh, Any news on The Boondock Saints II Saints All Day.
SHHH - 8/17/2009, 2:13 PM
SirPrize, it really does come down to the scripts. The cast is great, the direction is fine, the effects still hold up despite the reduced budget, but everything rises and falls with those scripts. Let's hope they take some real chances with the show rather than resort to formula.
EdGross - 8/17/2009, 2:14 PM
I agree, it is a bit Matrix-esque.
longbowhunter - 8/17/2009, 2:19 PM
oooooo clark gets in touch with his inner matrix is see...
future0fcomixs - 8/17/2009, 2:19 PM
@sirprize - Very good point, let's just hope to God it doesn't get worse, I swear if the season premeire is anything like the season finale of season 8 I won't watch another episode of Smallville
TheDurdenEffect - 8/17/2009, 2:24 PM
things are clearly going in a good direction (FINALLY after 9 years we get some sort of costume!!) but it looks like a poor mans version of Neo from the Matrix! I smell another bitter disappointment! :(
JoshW - 8/17/2009, 2:26 PM
Ed, the big problem is the lack of character follow through. There are supposed to be new writers for this season so hopefully there will be more and better character developement and evolvement.

But it all depends how privvy the WB are with the characters.
SirPrize - 8/17/2009, 2:27 PM
Nice scoopage!

Happy theres a costume..even if it is all Neo. Ill certainly watch it!
RorMachine - 8/17/2009, 2:30 PM
DurdenEffect - I hope the new writers are capable to pull it off. I don't know what their limitations are. But as I said a while back, let Smallville evolve to Metropolis.
SirPrize - 8/17/2009, 2:30 PM
Regardless of how it looks, at least he is wearing a suit. I dont really like the Matrix look however, I do like the black and silver "S" look from the books, also I'm tired of the bright red jacket and bright blue shirt. I would have been fine with an "S" on the blue shirt though. They do need to evolve the character and it seems like they are finally doing that, its just sad that its in the final season. The last couple of seasons were let downs especially the last, however it does give me something comic related to watch once a week, I never could get into Heroes, so Smallville returning is fine with me. It would be nice to see a cameo of a young Bruce Wayne or even Batman in this season to go with the dark look and having Zod instead of Lex is great. I dont like Lex as the villain but no one can play him better than Rosenbaum from Smallville....retr0
retr0g0dfather - 8/17/2009, 2:30 PM
Before Matrix, it harkens back to the first Donner Superman movies of Kryptonian dress that Jor El and the cousel wore. Could it be that that is what he maybe wearing in homage?
Phinehas - 8/17/2009, 2:36 PM
Get this everyone.......aparently the trenchcoat suite is his training suite that he wears for Jor-el's training but he uses it in public...the suite evolved throught the series and the S logo cloaks him from anyone recognising him...........official :(
teabag - 8/17/2009, 2:44 PM
kool pics i hope he finally flys im a big fan of da show
flames809 - 8/17/2009, 2:47 PM
teabag: that sounds like the work of the crappy writing team behind Smallville! :(
JoshW - 8/17/2009, 2:51 PM

DDD - 8/17/2009, 3:01 PM
I actually dig the black on black outfit. He looks more modern and can kick your ass. I am not sold on the trench coat.
SirPrize - 8/17/2009, 3:03 PM
Hey thats the rumour.......since im not watching it il rely on you guys to tell me if its true :)
teabag - 8/17/2009, 3:04 PM
Yeah, the coat's Kryptonian and cloaks Clark from being identified! Cool, @Tea!
DDD - 8/17/2009, 3:05 PM
Ill let you know @tea!

You don't get that in England? That's too bad!

Oh, I see! You're not watching it. OK
DDD - 8/17/2009, 3:06 PM
i thinks its alright its a modern costume then the red and blue spandex, everybody is used to the cape and all but this isnt that bad i think they needed to update the watchmen costumes geez
cbsmitty2 - 8/17/2009, 3:08 PM
Smallville needs to become Metropolis.
SirPrize - 8/17/2009, 3:12 PM
i agree with sirprize
flames809 - 8/17/2009, 3:19 PM

SHHH - 8/17/2009, 3:41 PM
What's funny is I have worn this same costume on several occasions, superman shirt under a trenchcoat. Someone from the show must have seen me.
superdog - 8/17/2009, 3:46 PM
Hey ive worn a trenchcoat too...cept there was nothing underneath......and i wasnt wearing a trenchcoat.......and i was arrested.....but it was similar :P
teabag - 8/17/2009, 3:49 PM
i worn a blackbelt be4
flames809 - 8/17/2009, 3:54 PM
I think I'm begining to like the new suit.

Even though I hated the season finale last year, this year "SEEMS" good. I don't know. Maybe it's because they finally did away with that TIRED red jacket.
Unmasked - 8/17/2009, 4:27 PM
Meh looks...meh. Ill wait and see what its gonna be like
dancingmonkey08 - 8/17/2009, 4:38 PM

POTHOLE-HOW DO YOU SOLVE PEOPLE NOT KNOWING WHO YOU REALLY ARE WHEN YOUR AROUND THE PEOPLE THATS NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHO YOU REALLY ARE ALL THE TIME.IF HE PUT ON THE REAL SUPERMAN SUIT, LOUIS, AND EVERYONE ELSE WOULD SAY...CLARK? WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DRESSED UP FOR?
..ANY IDEAS ON HOW THEYD FIX THIS?...HE'S NOT EVEN ACTING LIKE A SUPERNERD...
GUNSMITH - 8/17/2009, 6:26 PM
PEOPLE IN SMALLVILLE WHO KNOWS WHO CLARK IS EVERYONE BUT LOUIS AND JIMMY AND TESS MERCER..SORTA
GUNSMITH - 8/17/2009, 6:31 PM
it irritates me how all the costumes are are either hoodies or now trench coats.
SoulAllFlush - 8/17/2009, 6:39 PM
...I was hoping at the end of last season the it wasnt Clark it was the eradicator ...i doubt it but in my dream world it could be ...then they do a "what happened months ago" episode and show that Clark and Doomsday did beat each other to death.... of course that won't happen...

maybe the suit will grow on me...it definitely will if hes wearin all black and neo-ish cause hes the eradicator..
Snowjob - 8/17/2009, 6:56 PM
Its Neo!
Trioch - 8/17/2009, 7:02 PM
Doesn't look like much. Gotta watch the first episode to be able to voice my opinion. Eradicator would be badass, but I hope they save it for a movie.
Tobuttica - 8/17/2009, 8:07 PM
thanks teabag ive been wonderin how to do that forever eespecially the whole this guy for cap, this guy for thor ordeal thats still goin on.
cbsmitty2 - 8/17/2009, 8:37 PM
"I actually dig the black on black outfit. He looks more modern and can kick your ass. I am not sold on the trench coat."

Sirprize, are you suggesting that the outfit the Supes had been wearing that had spanned 7 decades is just now no longer en vogue? If a man ran around the streets of New York at the time of Supes' inception, they would have cast a net over him and thrown him in a padded cell. I suggest that it was never fashionable amongst mere mortals. But the abilities that Superman possesses makes him wearing tights somehow believable. That's why, even in 1978, it was still believable. That is, we were still able to suspend disbelief. We could do so now.
Phinehas - 8/17/2009, 8:59 PM
True Souls but if you took a look at what most superheroes were wearing before the ninties... mainly sups, Batman, hell even Spiderman and Captain America and so on, they would look ridiculous on a modern character. We'd laugh at them ;) While I do agree that hoodies and trenchcoats are a bit over-used nowadays, they are nowhere near as campy as the old-school costumes, know what I mean?
Shadowelfz - 8/17/2009, 9:22 PM
uh oh....nobody tell Kryptonshyte or they are going to be sooooo mad again....hahahahaha
Rumblebeast - 8/17/2009, 9:46 PM
If people wore what they wore on Xmen, Smalleville's Justice League, or just about any other Superhero you can dream up, it would look STUPID in reality even with "modern" clothes. Nobody wears that stuff unless they're about to shoot up a high school or something!
Phinehas - 8/17/2009, 9:59 PM

DDD - 8/17/2009, 10:46 PM
@Rumblebeast, I'm not trying to get CBM in trouble! If they want me to take it down I will...no offence to anyone meant! Peace! :)
DDD - 8/17/2009, 11:20 PM
Thats not a costume... that is a Trench Coat!!!!

Thanks a lot F'ing Wolverine : Wife-Beator-igins!
shibazz - 8/17/2009, 11:26 PM
Nothing to be disappointed about here. Not only do we finally have a suit, we finally have a legitimate reason for people not to recognize Clark. The series has gotten more mature and a coat like that will serve well. Plus i give them props just for trying to modernize and personalize the concept of Superman. Superman Returns was so behind the times it offered nothing outside of the what had already been done within the campy christopher reeve films. This Metropolis is darker, Clark is more of a detective than a brainless goofball, and the villains actually pose a threat.

Nothing personal against fans of Returns, it was entertaining regardless. But Rosembaum was intimidating, poetic, and diverse. Hard to step down to such a one sided interpretation of the character as Spacey supplied.
Pym - 8/18/2009, 1:41 AM
no prob DDD...i was just joking cuz they got their panties in a twist last time..ahahahahah...
Talking about panties...whats up Shibazz...(blush)
Rumblebeast - 8/18/2009, 1:44 AM
I THINK ITS COOL..WE HAVE THE S ON THE CHEST AND WE HAVE SOMETHING TOWARDS THE EFFECT OF HAVING A CAPE..ITS DARK, KINDA GIVING YOU THE NOTION HE DOESNT WANT TO FULLY REVEAL HIMSELF JUST YET, PROBABLLY STILL WILL MOVE IN A BLUR(GAWD I HATE THAT RED BLUE BLUR NAME!)..HOPEFULLY IN THIS SEASON LOUIS, JUST AS SHE DID IN THE MOVIE, WILL FINALLY GIVE HIM HIS NAME..SUPER MAN. THEY NEED TO FIX THE POTHOLES IN THE SUPERMAN LORE THOUGH, I SUSPECT THEY COULD USE TIME TRAVEL TO FIX ALL THAT.CHANGING EVENTS, MOLDING IT BACK IN THE SHAPE FANS WANTED TO SEE.THIS SEASON LOOKS PROMISING

GUNSMITH - 8/18/2009, 5:11 AM
It would be better if at least he would be called the DARK BLUR after he dons the dark costume...

I agree @Gun...it looks quite promising!

SUPERSUIT
DDD - 8/18/2009, 6:11 AM
I couldnt be an actor....
Id feel like a total Douche just standing their acting like im observing Metropolis....
vonstallin - 8/18/2009, 6:48 AM
This has nothing to do with the topic but does have to do with Smallville. Has anyone seen this pic of Brian Austin Green as Metallo for the upcoming season?

Hmm.....can't seem to get the pic to post correctly. And now I can't delete the above post. Oh well. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

dizzle716 - 8/18/2009, 9:06 AM

Dizzle there ya go.
SirPrize - 8/18/2009, 9:56 AM
Much obliged SirPrize. What was I doing wrong?
dizzle716 - 8/18/2009, 10:50 AM
Here are your options:
1) Upload the pic on your fansite here at CBM and it will provide you with a url that you may copy and paste. The tags you used [URL= are not supported here on CBM. You may also use Photobucket and other photo archive services.

2) In front of your URL you'll use this tag < img src=" (Note: without the space between < and IMG) instead of using the [URL] tag.
At the end of your URL you'll use this tag "> instead of [/url].

SirPrize note: I can't paste the actual HTML code due to it will be invisible.

IMG coding is turned off for this site. This is why the brackets [] are not functioning. This is an HTML code site. You'll be using <> and "" quite a bit.
SirPrize - 8/18/2009, 11:18 AM
@RumbleBest- tonight i dine in Valhalla! if ya know what i mean.
