Henry Cavill plays Ultraman. ;P
rbfn04 - 9/5/2011, 9:49 AM
Really!? People voting for Cavill!? Routh's costume is better than Cavill's.
BearDown1087 - 9/5/2011, 9:51 AM
Dean Cain all the way!
TheAmarilloBlack - 9/5/2011, 9:51 AM
lol WTF is wrong with these cbm fans? They clearly aren't comic book fans so their perception is skewed. Can't believe Cavill is even on the list, much less in 2nd place. Shameful.
Knightstalker - 9/5/2011, 10:06 AM
Cain's suit is the best one to date. Welling didn't even have a suit, just a T-shirt (same one I have, probably).
DarthTesla - 9/5/2011, 10:09 AM
Christopher Reeve's costume is the most iconic, and most similar to the Superman comics that were out in the 70s.

Routh's is awesome in that it's just a sleeker version of the Reeve suit.

Dean Cain's was just a ridiculous Halloween costume.
longbowhunter - 9/5/2011, 10:17 AM
Reeve's costume is CLASSIC! But I thought Routh's was a perfect modern take.
ThatFan - 9/5/2011, 10:18 AM
Henry Cavill/Superman: yeah, that vault your face.

+ Henry's Superman doesnt have that guy underwere ftw
SigmaCenturion - 9/5/2011, 10:31 AM
why are people voting for cavil. dipshits.
AlternateNo4 - 9/5/2011, 10:31 AM
sorry, but as much as i loved the superman movies when i was 10 or 12, even then the suit looked cartoony to me. i wanted superman to feel like star wars, which was, to me, a realistic and believable fantasy. something i could get lost in and pretend was really happening.

but it DIDN'T feel like that... even my 10 year old self couldn't get a suspension of disbelief going because everything was too cartoony. krypton was amazing but metropolis was silly. clark was over the top goofy; nobody acts like that. lex and miss t were just cheesy cardboard cutouts. and that circus tent primary color suit looked great in posters but looked like a fire-retardant halloween costume on film.
Alphadog - 9/5/2011, 10:43 AM
Superman is a alien henry calvin suit represent that.
sbdc1939 - 9/5/2011, 10:59 AM
Rouths costume was ok, It was supposed to mimic reeves but it didnt have the s on the cape,Cavills costume looks awesome in that pic with the bank vault...
marvelguy - 9/5/2011, 11:03 AM
Routh's costume looked like the dark Superman in "Superman 3."
Daniellantern - 9/5/2011, 11:05 AM
Christopher Reeve is Superman all the time. the suit looks fit with his body. And i haven't seen Cavill's suit in action.
SigmaCenturion - 9/5/2011, 11:06 AM
@camprototype

Read the poll description. Quit handing out little troll badges. Does Cavil's suit represent anything seen in comics? No. Then haha. Pitiful.
CaptainPresley - 9/5/2011, 11:08 AM
Two more choices and the poll could have included every Superman. Kirk Alyn and Greorge Reeves are always overlooked.
meatbag - 9/5/2011, 11:09 AM
This isn't just nostalgia talking here, I really think Reeve's is the best, most faithful interpretation of any comic book character from that age. Cavill's suit will represent the DC reboot pretty well, I expect, but we'll have to see. As for Superman The Movie being too cartoony, well...it was kind of supposed to be. They were bringing a comic book to life, and trying to stay true to the source material. Example...Clark's wardrobe is kind of like "the 70s remembers the 40s" hats went out of vogue when Kennedy became president, and Perry White's bow tie? No, they weren't trying to make a "realistic" movie about a man who can fly, they were making a comic book movie. Reeve FTW.
SigmaCenturion - 9/5/2011, 11:15 AM
@mrcinister Juxtapositions don't count. Just like in the case of nolan movies borrowing bits and pieces of storyline. Cavil's costume doesn't represent a single suit seen in the comics. Definitely not the reboot suit.
crhodesdesign - 9/5/2011, 11:16 AM
Yes Reeves looks JUST like it did in the old comic, but today it just looks stupid.
The new suit has all the right elements of the old suits but with a good clean modern look, which suits the character more.
No cbf will EVER be happy with a suit on screen that is a fact, SR had a good suit but people moaned about a texture and colour being off, this isn't the end of the world, yet for some it clearly is.
meatbag - 9/5/2011, 11:22 AM
I don't think Reeve's suit looks stupid, even today. It just looks like the comic book. I mean, people moan, myself included, when they don't get characters close enough to the comics, but then moan when it's exactly right because it doesn't look real. That's just it...like you said, crhodes85, no one will EVER be happy. But I don't think putting all superheros in black leather motorcycle gear a la the X-men movie is the answer, either. It's Superman, after all, you either jump in feet first and enjoy it, or maybe you've just outgrown comic books. Just my opinion.
marvel72 - 9/5/2011, 11:28 AM
christopher reeve, cavill voters have got shit in their eyes.
pintoman - 9/5/2011, 11:43 AM
Including Cavil? It's like asking Sara Palin if she's running for president. A question that really shouldn't be asked that generates buzz for something thereby affecting the blogoshere. Reeve's is CLEARLY the best based on the comics. Routh's looked gay. The speedo was too low and the colors were off. If you plan to do a Superman movie, or any hero, you should commit to faithfully representing that character's costume on screen- otherwise, move on.
thatcoldblackcloud - 9/5/2011, 11:51 AM
Cavill is the NEW Superman, but THE Superman is and will always be Reeve. no doubt
mainstream05 - 9/5/2011, 12:05 PM
I think people ignored the "which suit best REPRESENTS the comics" and just voted for either their favorite suit or their favorite Superman - because there ain't no way in hell Tom Welling or Henry Cavill would've gotten any votes otherwise.
YourMomNaked - 9/5/2011, 12:08 PM
Cavill plays Aquaman ;D
Moonwalker1991 - 9/5/2011, 12:31 PM
Christopher Reeve. Tom Welling don't count. His "suit" was all CG. And he was never actually Super-man, just the "Blur".
MrFloZeke - 9/5/2011, 12:35 PM
The best live action suit was Gerard Christopher on SUPERBOY. Looked EXACTLY like the comic book.
Pontius888 - 9/5/2011, 12:36 PM
Reeve is a legend...Cavill and Routh can kiss his boots...Welling and Cain don't belong in this list and where is George Reeves?
Nucastle - 9/5/2011, 12:41 PM
I tried reading most of the comments, but christ, I think i'm the only one who loved Routh as Superman. Character and suit. He matched Reeves better than any other actor available (which was the point). He was the successor to Reeves and was amazing. But I think Cavill will be awesome.
Nucastle - 9/5/2011, 12:42 PM
Routh's Kent was great too. Total dumb but funny every-man, throwing everyone off his scent.
LP4 - 9/5/2011, 1:00 PM
Routh and Welling both suck.
xXkryptoniteXx - 9/5/2011, 1:04 PM
What is wellings superman symbol part of this? Seriously that don't count. Chris reeve is superman but the best costume would probably Dean Cain's version, routh's pretty cool but the s symbol's too small if it was bigger it would be a winner.
xXkryptoniteXx - 9/5/2011, 1:06 PM
Still Henry's superman will be the new modern day superman that is long over due....seriously chris reeve is superman but we need a new superman.
SKGannbit - 9/5/2011, 1:12 PM
Reeves was good for it's time but if you throw that on a guy now it would just look stupid. Cavill's suit has my vote.
superj89 - 9/5/2011, 1:15 PM
I feel like im gonna like cavills superman best...at least im hoping so. but "suit-wise" Reeve has the suit that most closely resembles superman.
Durango95 - 9/5/2011, 1:36 PM
Ew Routh's was better than Cavill's? Are you nuts? Reeves suit was the first and the best, but Cavill's SO FAR is a pretty good update to Reeves.BTW I voted for Reeves....
Cain,Welling, AND Routh aren't good enough to even be in this list.[frick] you Singer!!!
Ancar - 9/5/2011, 1:41 PM
The poll is wrong. Welling never used the costume, so he wouldn't be in there.
SigmaCenturion - 9/5/2011, 1:48 PM
Twits it doesn't have to be the same exact suit just the same design with new materials.
jbender - 9/5/2011, 2:29 PM
Christopher Reeve. The costume was not compromised and he wore it with dignity. You can tell he believed in the character.
kallel - 9/5/2011, 3:21 PM
Christopher reeve's!
Cavill's is a really cool costume, but not a superman costume.
can you imagine your kid saying; "mummy, buy me that GRAY superman costume that looks like skin"...no
