Save for a single trailer, Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War has been cloaked in secrecy. Sure, there's speculation stemming from set photos and videos, but Marvel and directors Joe and Anthony Russo have done their best to avoid leaks. In an interview with Total Film, actor Paul Bettany, who plays Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed the lengths that the film's directors went through to avoid spoilers from leaking out to the public.

“When I read the script there were fake scenes in it," Bettany revealed. "I got the directors on the phone and they walked me through what were the fake scenes. They’d had three leaks already, so they’d written a script with lots of fake scenes. There were three Hero iPads that had the only real script on them.”

There's plenty of speculation about the fate of Bettany's character Vision in the upcoming movie. In addition to teasing a continuation of the relationship between Vision and Elizabeth Olson's Scarlet Witch, the trailer also appeared to tease a potentially heartbreaking sequence. The footage showed a member of Thanos's Black Order brutally removing the Mind Stone from Vision's head which obviously isn't a good sign of things to come for the character.

Of course, knowing the lengths  to which Marvel and the Russo brothers went  to avoid leaks, it's doubtful Disney would spoil such a key moment from the movie in the trailer. In all probability, the scene - or its outcome - was probably included as a red herring.

Bettany also spoke of the massive scale of Infinity War. He recalled, "It was insane. There were like major movie stars on that film, and they were referred to as like “number 36’. It’s crazy.”

“Then there’s the fact that I woke up, and I knew we were shooting in the middle of nowhere," the actor detailed. "We were shooting an outdoors scene, and we started to descend down into this valley. There’s this f-cking town, and I was like 'Where the f-ck is this?' I got my phone out and there was nothing there, and that’s when I realized there were no buildings, it was all trailers. I’ve been making movies for 20 years and I’ve never seen anything that big or bonkers in my life…”

Avengers: Infinity War is due out in theaters on May 4, but it's possible fans will get another sneak peek at the impending showdown between Earth's Mightiest and Thanos during tonight's Super Bowl game.
