Josh Brolin Reveals Why He Didn't Play Zack Snyder's BATMAN And What He Wanted For JONAH HEX

Once upon a time, we heard that Josh Brolin was in talks to take on the role of the Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman. Here, he talks about not landing the role and Jonah Hex's failings. Check it out!

Josh Brolin's star has been on the rise for a while now but the signs are all pointing to 2018 being his biggest year to date. Not only will he appear in Avengers: Infinity War but he has a lead role in Deadpool 2 to boot. However, the actor wasn't always overly keen on starring in comic book movies, something which doesn't come as a huge surprise seeing as he starred in a flop like Jonah Hex

However, Brolin has now revealed that he had some big ideas in mind for the DC Comics adaptation. "That was my fault. I had really good intentions," he says, mentioning that he wanted Oldboy director Chan-wook Park to take the helm. "He was right on the verge of saying yes. I think the movie would have turned out closer to my intention, which was High Plains Drifter."

After saying that he only starred in the similarly disappointing Sin City: A Dame to Kill For "because of Robert [Rodriguez]" and that he "would do anything he wants me to do," Brolin weighed in on why he's seemingly avoided comic book movies. "Is it deliberate? Almost. It's not that I turned them down. It's just not what I wanted to do at that moment. The bigger things, I just stayed away from."

Perhaps the biggest superhero movie role Brolin failed to land was the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Asked how close to came to landing the role in the Zack Snyder helmed released, he said: "We indirectly talked about it, but we never got to the point because I wasn't the guy for him," Brolin explains. "I'm really glad it didn't happen. I haven't thought twice about it."

A big part of why Brolin likely feels that way is down to how the DC Films Universe has been faring with critics; the Marvel Cinematic Universe, on the other hand, is going from strength to strength so he's bound to feel a little more confident about Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 is likely a guaranteed hit as well. What do you guys think? As always, let us know your thoughts in the usual place.
