Longtime Deadpool fans were certainly pleased to see that the Deadpool movie snuck in Hydra Bob into the film.  However, as his name implies, Bob works for Hydra, a nefarious organization that plagued MCU heroes in Captain America: The First Avenger, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick stated, "That’s why he’s just called Bob.  The hardcore fans will go, ‘Oh my God, is that Hydra Bob?’ but the lawyers at Marvel won’t go, ‘Wait, that’s Hydra Bob, they don’t have the rights to it.’ We did take some liberties. Fox has a list of characters that they own and that we can use, and Simon Kinberg, who is a producer on the project, is the keeper of the X universe. So he was a great source for us in knowing what we can use, how it’s going to play into the larger story, and overall arching stories of the X universe. So between Simon and legal, they kind of guided us to what we can and can’t do or have access to, and then it was up to us to see how we were going to use those characters creatively, once we knew we really did have the rights."

Bob's cameo was a nice nod to comic book readers and also served as a humorous tongue wag to the folks at Marvel.  Given that Deadpool is guaranteed to have a sequel, what do you think are the odds that Bob returns?  Veteran stunt actor RoB Hayter played Bob in the film.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

The film is directed by Tim Miller, with a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams.
