Terrific article!

But where the hell is 'Batman Beyond:10,000 Clowns' dammit!

DC better not be pulling another 'All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder' again!

The last BB issue said the new books of said title above would be released this time in 2012!
I'm starting to worry...

Wow, I think Batman and friends is the new 52! Holy shit, there is almost as many Bat titles as there are X-Men, atleast Batman is staying in continuity with this whole Court of Owls shit. I haven't read Snyder's Batman since #1, I am waiting on the trade, I hope they do a thing where they include all these issues in the hardcover, like KnightsEnd. Cause I really don't wanna drive all around my state spending $100 dollars on 50 different titles. Anyway, any DC fans know when Snyder's Batman trade is coming out? Only DC title worth a shit.

Snyder's run is easily one of the best comic titles around right now (if not the best). Can't wait to see how the Owls expand into the other titles (though I'm only additionally following Detective Comics, which has been rather weak for the past couple issues).

I dont get it. WHY?!? The Court Of Owls should stay in Scott Snyder's Batman. Why so many crossovers in one month?

I also stop reading most of these. I only read Snyder's Batman and Catwoman.

I agree with everyone that Snyder has been doing a magnificent job on his run so far. I also can't get enough of Red Hood and the Outlaws. It started out as a bit of a guilty pleasure, but it has grown on me quickly. Kenneth Rocafort's pencils and the coloring by Blond are my favorite artwork of any book since the first issue was released in September (although Winter Soldier is looking good too). This is the best looking Red Hood cover in a few months.

The owl storyline in Batman has been top notch. I'm curious to see how they're going to work it into the other characters storylines.

Wilddaniel, I'm with you. I've been following each of the Batman titles, and enjoying all of them. The Court of Owls storyline is my favorite Batman story in a looooong time. But crossing it over with 17000 other books is going to make it impossible to follow along with. Why must they torture us this way?

I've been following most of these, and here are my personal opinions of the runs so far:

Batman - Is easily the best of the bunch. The best Batman story in a very long time, with deep seeds in the history of the Wayne family and Gotham itself. Brilliant. Highly Recommended.

Batman & Robin - Easily the 2nd best. My first real exposure to Damian as Robin, (I've known of him but haven't read any books with him.) and the art and writing have been fantastic. I'm hooked. Highly Recommended.

Batgirl - I'm normally a Gail Simone fan, but this book has been very disappointing. It's just not very interesting, and I honestly feel it hasn't justified Barbara being out of the wheelchair yet. I've become bored reading her angsty post-chair inner-monologue. Out of all of Batman's supporting heroes, she has less personal justification for putting on the suit and being a vigilante than anyone. Barbara to me feels better suited as a supporting cast-member, or as a member of a team, and was better off as Oracle. She was a unique resource for others as an info-broker/hacker, and now she just runs around punching people like the others. And not very well. **yawn**

Batwoman - This book really surprised me, and is a masterpiece of visual storytelling. While it feels completely detached from the Batman mythos, and pretty much is, I think it's an amazing book in it's own right. Highly Recommended.

Batwing - I'm highly against the whole Batman Inc. idea, but I gave the book a shot, and while it's been interesting, I feel that the connection to Batman feels forced, and that the book is ultimately unnecessary. The setting and realistic handling of tragic real-world themes would be better suited in a book unrelated to Batman, and it makes the sci-fi elements feel out of place. (Plus, if you are wearing an armored head-to-toe flight suit to fight AK-47 carrying militia, why would you leave your head completely exposed? It's like Iron Man without a helmet.)

The Dark Knight - So far this book has been a let-down as well. Going from villain to villain, each of whom has been roided out in a venom-mixed-with-a-no-fear-toxin, resulting in fight after fight. Plus the re-occurring, almost-naked, lingerie-wearing White Rabbit character is terrible. She looks like she belongs in a "bad-girl" Top Cow book.

Detective Comics - This book has been limping along as well. The Doll-Maker was kind of dark and interesting but that plot never really went anywhere, and now it's focusing on the Penguin, who has always been my least-favorite Batman villain. He's goofy looking, non-threatening, and just can't hold my interest.

And while a few of these books have touched on the fact that the Joker had apparently had his face surgically removed at the very beginning of the New 52, leaving behind the skin, and he hasn't made an appearance yet/since, nothing has come of that so far. I'm assuming they are saving the real "first appearance" of the Joker for some big event later.

I'm glad that they have made it very clear though that these extra issues in the other books are completely unnecessary and totally optional. Snyder has his story play out in his book, and the other writers were given the option to hop on board and use his toys for an issue if they wanted.

I bet the use of the Talons in the other books will be superficial for an issue anyway, and can be skipped.

I really can't believe no one reads Batwoman. That is easily one of the top 3 or 4 comics out there right now. I would say (not necessarily in order) everyone needs to check out: Daredevil, Batwoman, Scalped, Animal Man & Savage Sword.
