Is Earth-2 going to be to DC as Ultimate Universe is to Marvel???

I can't wait to see the return of the REAL Karen Star/Power Girl interacting in this new universe, especially now that the characters are all changed up. I know these two books may be joining my reads. Although Robinson is writing EARTH 2 and he made Cry for Justice which he killed an innocent child for shock value but he also did what I heard was a fantastic run on the Star Man series, so I'm conflicted by that aspect.

I like that DC is allowing for some old school writing and art to make a comeback. That would be like if JRSR came back to Marvel and did some of the books....which would be AWESOME but he's retired. I can't wait for the first teaser images of both titles

Sounds interesting.

The claim that Robinson killed a child for "shock value" is complete and utter nonsense. There was a method to that story. Something had to happen to push Green Arrow over the line, causing him to kill Prometheus, thus distancing himself from the JLA. I don't understand the hate on "Cry for Justice." That book is absolutely solid, and it was one of the first stories that really made me analyze Green Arrow. What they're doing with him now is nothing as complex, and it's just plain boring.

That said, I'm excited to see how James Robinson handles Earth-2, and I'm also pumped to see which characters are actually members of the JSA. I'm crossing my fingers for The Sandman to show up if he isn't already a planned main character.

@NoRegrets: You're thinking of Earth 3, if that still exists. Earth three is the earth with the evil counterparts of everyone.

@ComicCritic

I read the article, and I understand your position. However, I don't agree. It'd be silly to ignore that heroes have loved ones who'd be put into harm's way. By that rationale, Identity Crisis is also a terrible story.

another article but this one is on Identity Crisis

http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/blogs/latest/entry/identity-crisis-rape-as-drama

These elements should not be used when it comes to telling a STORY especially since the writers are in control of these Universes, yet they continue to add in these elements that have little to no bearing on the story. THEY ARE placed in their for "shock value" they want readers to spread the word so they could get more readers. A proper way would by like in Kingdom Come, where the death's HAD meaning and affected the story after the events. This isn't an attack against DC, I love DC comics, I just hate it when a mainstream company sinks so low to pull the "kill the kid" or "rape" card like they did in those two stories.

The Bat Family & The Supes Family always team up. Batman/Superman, Batgirl/Supergirl, Robin/Superboy, and Huntress/Powergirl

@Alucard.....true. My favorite moment of all that was Dick Grayson teaming up with Power Girl when Grayson was still Batman. It was a fun nod and wink at the Supes and Bat team-ups. I like it that Power Girl is taller than Grayson. He is at perfect motorboat level

@comiccritic... it seems you missed a lot of the point of Identity Crisis and how the events following the rape were affected by it..

you should probably read it again... Identity Crisis was a fantastic story, not just a 'shock value' plot point.. but rather using a real life trauma to show a much more vulnerable and human side to the DC superheroes

@Blind....its so much about the "shock value" plot point....its that it has NO REASON to be in the story. Sue dies in the end, why bother even showing us those panels. She could have hinted at it with her dying breath. Telling Ray that Dr. Light raped her but not outright saying rape. This plot point is like keying a persons car and then setting the car on fire after.....your only adding insult to injury. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking DC for doing this, if Marvel did a story that involved rape, believe me I would judge them just as harshly. My problem is when something bears NO POINT to the plot. Lian's Death and Sue's rape are two moments that don't need to exist, they don't progress their respected stories, they bring them to a screeching halt. They are trying to get readers to see how "EDGY" they can really get. When it comes to the MAINSTREAM, some lines can be crossed but crossing the line involving the death of a child for no other reason to get readers or allowing a rape scene to be drawn, you are being hardcore....your pathetic
