Why would using Jack Ryder be a rights issue? Aren't all the DC properties owned by Warner Bros?

I'll be honest, I have no idea what Divergent is about.

Divergent is not a Hunger Games rip-off. It's really a fantastic book, and has a great meaning behind it. I highly recommend it to fans of sci-fi, action, and a hint of romance. It's my personal favorite.

Shame movie industries feel the need to listen to those indulgent, rude, and shitty people on these kind of websites.

None of em understand the meaning of comic books. At all.

You would've been great Woodley. Sad to see such a talented actress shunned from a CBM role.

Ugh. Warner's and DC. The worst partnership ever. They have all their characters and they still manage to never coordinate a single thing right. I highly doubt if Marvel had everything back they would handle it as messily as the WB does. They should just share the characters freely, have multiple version on tv AND the movies. Comic book movies need to stop mixing storylines and start adapting them outright and use the source material as storyboards and scripts ala Sin City. Imagine a two part Kingdom Come, then later a one off Red Son, or a trilogy of films focused on Hush, perhaps even the long fabled Super Max tale. Arrow from the show joining the big screen League. That's exactly how DC could separate from the perception of just riding Marvels coat tails... Take more risks WB! You only live once, money can be earned again if there's a failure, it's not the end of the world you have other income revenues dammit....

Jack Rider or Vicki Vale would've been better then Woodburn.

It would've been great adding more DC characters to the movie.

Yeah why is Ryder a rights issue? Its not like he is a wildly popular character.

The dude in Divergent was in the Inbetweeners movie. He can't act for shit.

Woodburn. Woodward & Bernstein. I never would've put that together myself. Because it's lame. Why on Earth couldn't they have used Jack Ryder? Oh well. Y'know who would've been better? Vic Sage. Right? What a missed opportunity.

James Gandolfoni died? Damn. He would've been a great Wilson Fisk.

I bet it was more of an issue with him being the Creeper than Ryder

AlanWarlock - 6/19/2013, 7:21 PM
If someone's tied up the rights to the Creeper, then why haven't we gotten a "Creeper" project yet? And they better not change his costume.

Yeah a Jack Ryder reference being a rights issue really doesn't make much sense to me, Warner Brothers owns all the DC film properties. That would've been a nice cameo to give the DC Universe some more interconnection, but I won't be losing sleep over it or nothing. I just hope they make the next Batman film more closer to the TAS or Arkham Games. Less Nolanish, more Frank Miller, Grant Morrison, and Scott Snyderish.

Divergent = Hunger Games = Battle Royale

One ripped off from the other and on down the line. 'Tween indoctrination crap of a Dystopian future. The ONLY film listed above with ANY merit was Battle Royale. Battle Royale II? Not so much...

Divergent is REALLY different than Hunger Games.

Yes, they're both novels. MUST BE THE SAME

If WB said no to using Jack Ryder it may indicate that they have other plans for the character. He is, after all, briefly in the Batman: Arkham videogames, so maybe Warner's want to tie him in with the Batman reboot, whenever it appears.
