After revealing Nite Owl II earlier today, Bleeding Cool has now unveiled more leaked art from the Watchmen prequel, this time featuring The Comedian by J.G. Jones.

Earlier today, we got a first look at Nite-Owl II by Joe and Andy Kubert from the upcoming Watchmen prequel. And now, once again thanks to Bleeding Cool, we get our first look at The Comedian by artist J.G. Jones.

I have to admit I like it! Never was a fan of the Watchmen books! Everyone talks about how it's so amazing, and the greatest comic ever printed where I found it to be contrived, tedious and boring as hell! The movie made it tolerable. Just my opinion, no need to freak out. Honestly, I feel that way about pretty much ALL of Moore's work. I just don't think he's the talent he, and everyone else makes him out to be! This artwork is FAR superior to what we got in the first foray into the Watchmen world as well. Gibbons was able to tell a mediocre story well enough, but the artwork itself just left me uninspired. Kinda like going back and looking at old Kirby stuff. AMAZING for it's time, but just doesn't hold up today. That's MY 2 cents! Here's hoping this one is more exciting than the original!

i love watchmen every character from there novel is bad ass, all of them, will love to see alt more of them i wish they can meet batman or or other characters that rank then in the dc universe 1 dayyy

if alan moore was writing it,well that would be a different story altogether.

Art looks cool, but a WATCHMEN prequel is a bad idea in general. Like most prequels this could only serve to dilute the original more than it could enrich it.

I am really looking forward to the prequels a lot. The Comedian looks great, better than Night Owl 2; he looks the same. Eddie's suit probably is suggeting that the period is somewhere around the time that he was stabed.

The shoulder armor is from the movie. I bet they have a REAL GREAT idea for these stories. They can't be doing it for money. They already pissed off half the fans.

im down, but this was clearly inspired more by the movie that the GN because look at the right shoulder piece. It's exactly the same and originally it was just cloth. Not complaining just an observation

I wonder what happens? I wonder if he'll get killed? Oh, right; we know exactly when and how he dies so we know he won't die here. I wonder if he'll be seriously injured or be in any serious jeopardy at any point? Oh, right; we know he survives until the time of the actual novel relatively unscathed, so no sense of tension there then...

So what is the point? Oh right, it's a cynical cash-in attempt based on the idea that there's a sucker born every minute...

Alan Moore did not want Watchmen to be made into a movie and I imagine (just as others above my comment have stated), that Alan Moore is probably against the idea of a Watchmen prequel comic or even a sequel.

I don't think Alan Moore's name was even credited in the opening titles of the movie.

@6of13: He won't have his name attached to ANY movie based on his work - not just Watchmen. It had nothing to do with him not wanting them to make a movie - in fact he was signed up to write a draft of the script years ago when a movie was first mooted - but more to do with the fact that he's sick of Hollywood and their way of working so decided he wanted no more to do with them.

It has nothing to do with Moore not wanting it or (not) being involved. Creatively it has nowhere to go. No conflict. No dramatic tension. We know what happens to them, we know how they got there, we know most, if not all, of the significant events in their lives. How would a story involving them chasing after say Moloch be interesting? We know what happens already.

@60f13-Alan Moore has stated he doesn;'t want his name attached to ANY adaptations of his work so Dave Gibbons was creditted only. He's not even credited in the Motion Comics I don't think.

As for the pic, looks like the movie version. I am truly scared and intrigued by this project.
