COMICS: He's Baaaaack! 'The Joker' Returns On Greg Capullo's BATMAN #36 Cover

The Joker made his surprise return on the final page of Batman #35 as "Endgame" kicked off, and while we still don't know how he's controlling the Justice League, the Clown Prince of Crime very much makes his presence felt on this cover for issue #36. Hit the jump to check it out...

In a lengthy interview with Newsarama, Batman writer Scott Snyder has once again said that the "Endgame" arc will be the last we see of The Joker in his run (though he is open to revisiting the iconic villain again somewhere down the line). "I don't want to say that I'll never revisit him. I feel like everyone does that. They're like that rock band that says "We'll never get back together! We're done!" And then ten years later they're on a reunion tour. So I don't want to say I'll never use him, but this is definitively the end to the arc that we began, and I don't have any real intentions to come back to him after this." What do you guys think about the cover?

Hey, dude, not everyone can get to the comic store each week. And some of us prefer not knowing the big twist of an issue before reading it.

What, no killer Superman Man of Steel jokes? I'm disappointed.

I gotta say I'm not a huge fan of the way the joker has become a rare beast to see in comics nowadays.
It's not like you hardly ever see lex Luthor. Kinda annoys me.

Damn it,@NeoBaggins..........you're making me do this...you're ASKING for me to do this............*sighs*

Superman looks, on this cover, to be slightly less murderous than he did in MoS.

Better?

I feel dirty..............

@TheBuoyWonder I think that's what makes it great. He's an iconic villain who needs a certain kind of story arc. If he pops up all over, he becomes less special. That's just my opinion.

Anyone remember the EMPEROR JOKER storyline?? He was all over the place!! Still, I don't think overexposure could hurt the Joker... eveyone likes a clown!!!

My only critique with the story is that Joker isn't really known for mind control, that's more of Mad Hatter's MO. Maybe they're working in collusion.

@HugoStrange87 That was a stand in image before they revealed the real cover(this one). It was the same with #35 but the actual cover had Batman fighting the justice league.

I don't like it, read 35 and without spoiling anything I just DO NOT LIKE IT. It's one of those things I want to be forgotten like the New 52 seems to forget it's GOOD plots.

^^^^

I have to agree, I'm getting tired of the Snyder/Capullo run right about now. I wouldn't mind if Endgame was their endgame. End with a truly bold finish, drop the mic, and let the next writer pick up the pieces. The other arcs, to me, build fantastic momentum and lose steam somewhere around the final act. Court of Owls w/ _____'s brother... Death of the Family w/ ______ retaining his eye sight and the ____ fakeout, the whole final act of Zero Year... I get really excited and then just completely feel burned by Snyder's style of finishing. I know I'm just a reader, but I know what I want, and I want the new52 to be bold, different, and unapologetically left-field, otherwise, why should I keep paying for these stories? By the way, "Justice Buster"... Really???

@JoshWilding Not trying to sound like a douche or anything but I hadn't got around to reading issue #35 yet and the teaser definitely just spoiled the big twist for me, the reveal of Hush in Batman Eternal got spoiled for me by one of your article's teasers too. Could you be a little more vauge in the future to big reveals like that and include a spoiler warning?
