Last year, over 58% of you decided to side with Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Now that we're six issues into Avengers Vs. X-Men, has your allegiance changed? Here's your chance to decide...

We're now at the halfway point in Avengers Vs. X-Men, but which team are you behind? While many argued that the first act portrayed the X-Men as being the villains, the Avengers weren't exactly entirely faultless with the way they handled things either. We're now in Act Two, and can anyone support the Avengers' decision to try and stop the Phoenix Five from making the Earth a better place? It's by no means easy to pick a side (unlike Civil War) but with six issues down and six to go, whose side are you on?! Here's your chance to decide...

i've always loved the x-men slightly more than the avengers, they're the reason i got into comics in the first place.

shame its not the same way with the films.

The X-Men lost their fire in the early 2000s.
The last X-Men-related comic I bought was Wolverine #145 when Apocalypse gave him his adamantium back from when Mags ripped it out his body.
The Avengers have my interest now.

Im on the AVENGERS side on this, one of the reason is because the other team has an asshole for a leader (aka Cyclops). Gosh I really hope he dies. PERMANENTLY

If you were to take X-Men and the Avengers in "Deadliest Warrior" format and run the stats through a computer, Avengers would definitely win. Avengers is like the Black Ops Recon team for Shield containing some of the most powerful and skilled heroes in the Marvel Universe. X-Men are powerful too, but let's face it, Avengers kicks X-Men's ass.

Leader vs Leader: If Cap and Cyclops were to fight one on one, Cap would win this by a landslide. The only thing Cyke can do is shoot his lasers out of his eyes which Cap can easily block with his shield. All cap has to do is get in close for hand to hand and it's all over. Okay, yeah, Cyke has some training, but not nearly as much as Cap.

@MadJakHatesSpinoffs, @Just1Superguy: You're both wrong. The fight wouldn't even be close if it wasn't for PIS due to bad writers and editors who can't think their way out of a cardboard box. Captain America's shield has a 2.5 ft diameter. It's more like a buckler than a shield. Captain America is over 6ft tall. Hell, his chest/shoulder span is broader than the damn shield. Cyclop's beam can widen up to and including a 180 degree arc in front of him. There is no way Captain America can dodge and/or block that beam without something conveniently placed in front of him like a vibranium wall.

@Just1Superguy: The new52 was huge sales spike, but the numbers are starting to return to what they were prior to the reboot.

"The "New 52" boost to the average number did not prove to be very sustaining, however. Between April 2005 and December 2007, average DC Universe sales never fell below 37K units. But by March 2012, they were down to an estimated 33,229 units, less than half of the September figure.

In April, there's a slight improvement, to be fair. Thanks to the conclusion of various low-selling titles in March, average DC Universe sales went up to 35,264 copies. And, with six of the "New 52" titles being replaced with new launches in May, that trend will probably continue. Overall, the DC Universe figure is well ahead of the weak first eight months of 2011, but broadly in line with the figures from 2008 through 2010."

@Just1Superguy,

Uh, Yeah I do know what I'm talking about. I'm a Marvel fanboy, have been for years. The fight would probably last a couple of minutes, but Cap's shield can definatly take the punishment of Cyclops' eye beams. If he can close the distance for hand to hand, Cap will beat Cyclops down in under a minute. Cap has probably forgotten more about martial arts than Cyke will ever learn.
ralfinader
ralfinader - 6/21/2012, 2:37 PM
@AlThor - Well, in Secret Wars, Cap got his whole body behind his shield so Human Torch could go supernova to take out Ultron. Cyke does have the advantage though in a face to face confrontation, realistically. Thank god comicbooks aren't real! Go Cap!

@Ralfinader Yeah, and Wolverine managed to regenerate from being incinerated down to his skeleton by Nitro. He used to have trouble getting up straight away from a bullet to the head. Like I said, Plot Induced Stupidity due to bad writing and editors. They lay out the rules in the fantasy world and break them at will. What's the point? Just give everyone super strength, speed, and durability. Then it'll all make sense.

At least the art is WAAAAY better now with Coipel. I was really on the fence originally, but now I'm definitely on the Avengers' side. Seriously, all it's going to take is for one of the Phoenix 5 to lose control (probably Colossus IMO) and then they all realize that they shouldn't be trying to control this thing in the 1st place. Besides, Cykes is just being a total douche and is really becoming the Old Magneto...
All I can think about is this now...

@ Just1Superguy,
Cap received a lot of fight training during WW2. Most of it consisted of Boxing, Wrestling, Judo and Karate. The super soldier serum he was injected with allowed him to learn the moves very quickly. After he was "unfrozen", he continued to keep his body in peak physical shape and learn additional fighting skills.

As much as I love X-Men, for getting me into comics, I'm gonna have to go with Avengers. I kinda hope Cyke dies towards the end, so when he's eventually resurrected, he'll have a bit of a clean slate. He's gotten to be something of a tyrant lately, and I really want to like Cyke. I think the leader of an entire nation of mutants should be likable in some way.

Seriously this event sucks so bad. It get's dumber with every issue, at least the art got good.. Meanwhile Spidermen #1 while uneventful was more enjoyable than all 6 issues of AvX, and I was beyond hyper critical on that one being a sure suck fest. Pleasantly I was wrong, AvX though.. this is just as bad, if not worse than Fear itself.. wonder if they will retcon anything of importance with .1 issues at the end again in this one too.

Just1Superguy- There is no bias on this site. Its user generated which means we determine what goes on the site. If there are more marvel articles its because more people are submitting marvel articles. If you want more DC articles than have DC fans submit more articles.

I remember there being a lot of articles concerning the new 52, and there are many times more
marvel movies out now so it makes sense there are more marvel articles. If DC stopped being so prudish with their heroes and made more movies it would be different.

As for this article, while I would agree with the Avengers in principle on this (the world knows the phoneix is a threat and Cykes theory is just that), I owe my entire childhood love of comics to X-men and Batman so Im biased when it comes to these characters. Therefore, I wam going with X-Men on this one.

Agreed Skot. I love me some marvel something fierce but their major story arcs have been in a steady decline since House of M. Civil War was the last decent one. Fear Its self was lame and AvX is worse.

For some reason I keep on buying them, though...

ha, was looking through old comics the other day and thought i was getting to be old and grumpy for missing the classic lee/claremont xmen days, glad to see i am not alone. xmen and batman were my main reads and the last xmen story i liked was age of apocalypse. i stopped collecting shortly after because art and stories sucked. got back in a few years ago with the digital subscription online. i do like some of newer story lines, but feel they can be so hit or miss. as for cyclops v cap i agree that a fully unleashed optic blast would end the fight quickly. cap's shield definitely should not be able to cover his whole body. yes you can site a comic in which he does, but there are many more depictions and official proportions of body to shield, as mentioned earlier, that clearly show no freakn way!

also what's up with all the marvel v dc hate? i like both, yes marvel more, but still feel both are equal in their own right. as a wise man who recently died once said, "can't we all just get along?"

Anyone who still makes fun of Aquaman is pretty much making a fool of themselves at this point. It is by far one of the best DCnU titles out and perhaps even one of the best comics out there. Quit being blind fanboys! I wouldn't criticize a comic without reading them first...

Scott's always been to cerebral and by the book. Him siding with Magneto for the apparent preservation of the mutant race is kind of the nail in the coffin for any redeeming qualities he had.
