COMICS: Marvel Reveals The Meaning Behind "This Is WAR"

The entire week has seen teaser after teaser for "This Is WAR" and many had assumed that it had something to do with "The Ultron War". However, it turns out that it's all about The Punisher as it appears the book will relaunch with a new title and an event called, "Lock And Load".

It's not made that clear whether the title of this storyline is "Punisher: War Zone" or "Lock and Load", although it seems far more likely that the former will be the new name of the book. In hindsight, the fact that all of the teasers released this week were penciled by regular The Punisher artist Marco Checchetto should have pointed to the vigilante's involvement. Will we see him taking on the Marvel Universe, and if so, why?! Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

He must be gaining some powers or something if he's able to put down Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Spider-Man, and Thor.

THEY MADE PUNISHER MOVIE AFTER PUNISHER MOVIE AND EVEN THOUGH EACH WAS A GOOD EFFORT IN PORTRAYING HIM DEAD ON LOOK OR JUST GOING FOR DARK VENGENCE IT NEVER REALLY BLEW UP. I WANNA SEE SOMETHING THAT HARKENS TO THE OLD SCHOOL ARNOLD STALLONE RAMBO DAYS..GET A BIG GUY MUSCLED OUT, GUNS BLAZING, BATTLING MAFIA YAKUZA KINGPIN BAD GUYS..I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT TYPE PUNISHER ON SCREEN YET.

@GUNSMITHI I agree, I'm still waiting for that great Punisher movie. Feige said they had plans to bring him back(I'm guessing film). This was back in 2010, I guessed things have changed.

To me, the 2004 version was the best one. War Zone was just awful in my opinion. The only thing I liked about War Zone was that they kept the origin from the comics.

Sacrilege!! That's just the ultimate version of Nick Fury that looks like Sam Jackson, the original (and cooler) Nick Fury is caucasian and looks like Rusell Crow in his prime.

Now only if the Punisher could take out the pathetic Marvel comic book creators who:

1. Believe that heroes versus heroes is a good idea

2. Believe that running the same concept into the ground is ALSO a good idea

Looks like the Punisher is jealous of every other Marvel characters getting good movies and he finally wants justice after getting crappy movies lol

lets hope its the Punisher attempting to do a Decimation on the superheroes, I always thought there were too many random generic heroes in the Marvel Universe, it would be good to cut the numbers down a bit. I think of it in a Syndrome-from-the-Incredibles type way, when everybody is special, no-one is

my only question is will it spin out/tie in of/to Rucka's awesome punisher ongoing, or will it be it own book.

they've set this up in Civil War. remember when Frank joins Cap's Avengers..? everyone on that team seems SHOCKED at his appearance with Spidey in his arms. and even more shocked when Cap accepts him joining the team.

and when Cap eventually beats the crap outta him (literally) and kicks him outta da team, everyone seems fine, even happy with this development. that must've made the guy feels even more isolated in the world though. and isolation tends to drive some people MAD. and Frank Castle..we all know he's INSANE. so, yeah..this is kinda expected.
