COMICS: Jason Aaron And Esad Ribic To Team-Up On New THOR Title

Following yesterday's teaser which revealed that writer Kieron Gillen and artist Greg Land would be teaming up for a new "Invincible" Iron Man teaser, the latest Marvel NOW! shake-up sees Jason Aaron and Esad Ribi on a "Worthy" Thor book.

Thanks to Newsarama, we have the following Marvel NOW! teaser image which seems to confirm Thor's new creative team this November. "Worthy" is clearly a reference to the whole, "Whosever Holds This Hammers, If He Be Worthy..." line associated with the God of Thunder. Artist Esad Ribic (Uncanny X-Force) had previously been rumoured to be working on the title, but this is the first we've heard of Jason Aaron's (Wolverine & The X-Men) involvement. The current The Mighty Thor series - written by Matt Fraction - ends this October.

Why does Thor have two swords?

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Marvel Now thing. They relaunch their titles all the time anyway. I think their current Thor book is up to 14 or 15. That's it. I have all of them & they've been great. But I feel like ANOTHER relaunch is just a cash grab. The only bit of silver lining for me is that it's not a reboot.

Solid creative team. Ribic is a great fit for Thor.

@thalidomide

I really don't have a problem with it. He's a warrior after all. It makes complete sense IMO.

Hey, THOR has two swords!

Looks like he's trying to snake DEADPOOL'S shtick!

I mean seriously!

What is ASGARDIAN CAKE?

Sex code for LADY SIF or ENCHANTRESS?

I love the choices they're making with the Marvel NOW! Initiative. I DO wish they'd just reboot some elements (Spider-Man SERIOUSLY needs a reboot) but I'm actually happy with a lot of this.

Bendis on X-Men?...Eh. I like Bendis a lot, actually, but he works best with street level heroes. We'll see how that turns out.

Careful Thor fans.. ask Hulk fans how they liked Aaron's recent run. Cautious optimism here, as I liked Aaron's stuff.

@Cth
i hear ya... the whole Stay Angry thing was not what i was expecting... there was no energy or anything... its all leading up to something big (i hope!) but so far its been one boring story after another... especially with the dogs and the punisher... that SHOULDVE been KILLER!!

but maybe the hulk isnt aarons thing... hopefully thor will be! havent been too impressed by thor lately either, but i am very optimistic and hopeful!!!

Hmm to bad we can't have JMS and Coipel back.

I lost interest in Hulk after Planet Hulk and WWH when they took the Hulk away and started Red Hulk

Actually like Thor having two complementary swords.

But, they should be axes.

And they need to be "special" magical ones.

Why are people complaining about Hulk having armor? Does no one remember World War Hulk and Planet Hulk? He had armor then and no one was complaining. I know its a crazy thought, but hey, maybe there's a reason for it, just like Planet Hulk?

Crazy, I know...

@ thewolfx

Superman doesn't wear armor for protection, smart guy. He wears it because it is Kryptonian ceremonial armor. He wears it in homage to his home world. Like I said, there might be a reason for it...
