Topping the UK box office for the second weekend, The Dark Knight Rises has earned another £7 million (holding off competition from new animated release, The Lorax). Marvel's The Avengers/Avengers Assemble took 12 days to hit the same total, even with the higher 3D ticket prices. Below is the UK Top Ten in full, courtesy of our friends over at Digital Spy.

Good news, which has been hard to come by with all the random acts of violence associated with it.

Really enjoyed the movie, can't wait to add this and Avengers to my DVD collection
BenderDickCumPatch - 8/1/2012, 2:47 AM
My god the film wasn't even that good, im not a hater or Marvel Turd as some will label me.I was TO excited for this, now let down and dissapointed by what I saw. Avengers still kicks its ass.
Maxi91291 - 8/1/2012, 2:59 AM

marvel72 - 8/1/2012, 3:07 AM
because the shooting happened in america it doesn't really effect people in the uk,we'll still go to the theatre over here unlike america where people are scared to.

its good & well worth seeing but personally the first two movies are miles better.
sirbonesalot - 8/1/2012, 3:09 AM
That's why there are so many empty seats at the Olympics..................
batmanmovie2012 - 8/1/2012, 3:13 AM
@sirbonesalot Haha
blvdnoise - 8/1/2012, 3:21 AM
Well sure. They don't have assholes murdering, shooting, fighting, robbing, injuring, and threatening people at their showings every weekend.
rebellion - 8/1/2012, 3:22 AM
@TheGoddamnDeadpool wow, when you say it wasn't good, it must be true. you're so smart and millions of people are nothing but idiots.

you don't have to thank me.
Illcommunicatione - 8/1/2012, 3:47 AM
Schools are out for Summer in UK so it was always going to make more during off peak showings.
Maxi91291 - 8/1/2012, 3:49 AM
@blueberry

Yeah but I still think that TDKR is the weakest of the three and it doesnt even feel like a nolan movie, more like a generic action movie. But im still routing for it because that means more records for the superhero genre.
Nubase - 8/1/2012, 3:51 AM
The BFI Imax cinema which has the biggest screen in the UK is fully booked for the dark knight rises till the end of August and thats just one screen showing the movie 5 times every day.

l'm sure the other cinemas are just as busy, its relly the only movie here in the UK that people want to watch and right next to the Olympics in Stratford london there a huge multiplex cinema showing the movie too.
Jollem - 8/1/2012, 4:04 AM

this is a real thing that was allowed to happen. stop doing drugs, united kingdom
GingerBird - 8/1/2012, 4:05 AM
Um, ya. The dip shit shooter really effected USA box offices, because everywhere else it's dominating!!

@rebellion- Hey its called an opinion kid, you learn it. I didn't call anyone names or anything, you called me out. Did I call people idiots for not liking it? Show me where I said that.

So far this is you:

gillri - 8/1/2012, 4:29 AM
considering the olympics is being staged here and the fact that the avengers is also a kid friendly this is a big result for TDKR
R888 - 8/1/2012, 4:31 AM

rebellion - 8/1/2012, 5:24 AM
@TheGoddamnDeadpool nope, you were presenting your opinion as a fact. something that haters and turds do.
Luminescent - 8/1/2012, 5:27 AM
@Itbegins2005: Well I'm British and i admit i prefer the darker superhero style compared to happy-go-lucky type.

Anyway, This is nice to hear. CBM's are dominating...I am pleased with this.
MisterFixit - 8/1/2012, 5:32 AM
The speed counts for little if then the film does not beat the British box office record :-)
MitchConner - 8/1/2012, 5:33 AM
Ummm...this movie was bad...oh, got it....now this story makes sense
LAXtremest - 8/1/2012, 5:44 AM
Oh shit... Here goes 14 pages of the same bullshit....
MisterFixit - 8/1/2012, 5:48 AM
yeah LAXtremest, Just the time to
wake up
bfprimetime - 8/1/2012, 5:51 AM
Hey guys check and see if the theatres near you have the option to watch the movie in Dbox. It's like watching the movie on a rollercoaster, the seats move in every direction.
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 8/1/2012, 6:09 AM
A good thing to hear. I enjoyed TDKR and I see that a lot of other people are enjoying it also. The Avengers is a different type of Superhero film, there isn't any reason why we cannot like both types of CBMs. A win all around.
Mendenhall12 - 8/1/2012, 6:19 AM
good
SageMode - 8/1/2012, 6:28 AM
No big deal
dezdigi - 8/1/2012, 6:32 AM
Awesome! CBM domination!
Batman27 - 8/1/2012, 6:33 AM
Batman will hit the billion dollar mark not once but twice! He's still the only individual Comicbook Charachter to do it on his own.
jasonicus - 8/1/2012, 6:43 AM
Well, this is the same place that thinks Monty Python is funny, so...
JoeMomma29 - 8/1/2012, 6:46 AM
Yes it is a great film and well deserved Azazel! Cannot wait for next summer to see Man of Steel dominate the box office!!!!
JoeMomma29 - 8/1/2012, 6:47 AM
@ jasonicus Monty Python is funny! Even my teenage kids find it hilarious!!!

Are you saying that Brits have no sense of humor and bad teeth?
JoeMomma29 - 8/1/2012, 7:09 AM
@ SirWinsalot that was so freakin funny!!!! Actually you guys may have bad teeth, but us freakin Americans have a disease called Obesity!!! Yup a bunch of fatties!
Ceejay - 8/1/2012, 7:09 AM
Magnificent film, it won't make a billion but it will still be a huge success. Loving what Chris Nolan did with concept, the stuff in the comics got stale decades ago so not giving a damn about continuity checklist by fanboys either. This is creative licence used at its finest!
Godzillafart - 8/1/2012, 7:14 AM
Glad it bounced back. It deserves to be a success.
JoeMomma29 - 8/1/2012, 7:14 AM
True Ceejay but it is sad that some fanboys on this site only measure the success of a movie by the box office numbers. So at this point I guess a movie is only good if it does over a billion dollars!

Dang just imagine I guess some of the following movies are not good!

GodFather 1
GodFather 2
Empire Strikes Back
Alien
Garbage Pail Kids the Movie

LAXtremest - 8/1/2012, 7:23 AM
Future polls regarding Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises:

Which set had a better catering table
Who had better personal assistants
Who provided better hookeds for the actors
Godzillafart - 8/1/2012, 7:35 AM
I thought TDKR was the second best movie in the trilogy and the second best CBM of the year. Glad it is doing well.
Luminescent - 8/1/2012, 7:39 AM
This page has turned into Who has bad teeth and who is overweight. Eh, it's different from the, ohh this sucks and this is better then that BS.
JoeMomma29 - 8/1/2012, 7:41 AM
Well Luminescent if you mention the other movie that was a success this year, that tends to bring out the trolls. So I would rather cracks jokes then to start the whole my peepee is bigger then yours thread!!!
Gottostophate - 8/1/2012, 7:41 AM
why cant everyone on here be more like Godzillafart. I can even learn from him. Their no need for anyone to go on a topic comment section and bash the hell out of it. Also CeeJay how come you dont think it will break a billion. It will not get their as fast at Avengers clearly did but it can get their.
Minghagz - 8/1/2012, 7:43 AM
The only thing I'm disappointed about is the fact that I haven't seen it at the IMAX yet even after multiple viewings... especially since I have a 70mm IMAX theater 5 minutes away from me.
LFANCH - 8/1/2012, 7:51 AM
I'm glad this movie managed to break a few of the less important records ;) I'm just kidding, it was a very enjoyable movie. I personally did enjoy avengers more though.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/1/2012, 7:58 AM
Who was it that said Batman wasn't famous in the UK?
batman1216 - 8/1/2012, 8:41 AM
Thats it. Its official. I am moving to the UK. Far more intelligent people with better taste.
ComicBookSon - 8/1/2012, 8:52 AM
CBM of the year! Keep on movin
