BOX OFFICE: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Becomes Fastest Grossing Film In The UK Of 2012
Christopher Nolan's epic finale to his The Dark Knight Trilogy has become the fastest grossing movie of 2012 in the UK, beating the record which was previously held by this year's other big superhero epic, Marvel's The Avengers.
Topping the UK box office for the second weekend, The Dark Knight Rises has earned another £7 million (holding off competition from new animated release, The Lorax). This makes Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie the fastest grossing film of 2012 on that side of the pond as it made an incredible £30 million in just 10 days. Marvel's The Avengers/Avengers Assemble took 12 days to hit the same total, even with the higher 3D ticket prices. Below is the UK Top Ten in full, courtesy of our friends over at Digital Spy.
